A reader sends this image from an old postcard:

Beautiful!

I always buy postcards when I am traveling and am kinda surprised a small town like Orderville had its own postcard. Perhaps that was more common way back when cars looked like these do.

An old postcard! Before I read that I was wondering where you found the old cars.

Restaurants had postcards. They were good ads. Why wouldn't you give this away for a traveler to mail to someone?

People really used to write postcards when they were away. It was kind of expected that you would. Does anyone still do this?!

I got one yesterday! Friends visiting NZ sent a freebie postcard from a golf course...Gandalf stamp!

Why send a postcard instead of an Email? Your Email can go to multiple destinations simultaneously.

(I'll bet that Ford pickup truck is still running. Not so the 1959 caddie or the Opel.)

Post cards are personal. Actual atoms from the place. Emails are lazy.

The old cars make it look like Cuba.

@Original Mike, how personal can you be when anyone can read what you've written?

I'll take the '59 Caddy, thank you very much...

1st, delete the welas asih spam please.

2nd, re: Ron says that's a 59 Cadilac. Knew from the fins (59 is the ultimate fin year) it was a 1959 model, and from styling was GM. But was unsure if Caddy or Olds. Still not sure.

I still pick up the free postcards if nice and use them as bookmarks and fond memories. Back in the 80's I did that with matches (don't smoke) to remember good meals.

"Send me a postcard when you get there!", people used to say to those leaving on a trip. In the south when family or friends had been visiting and were about to go home they would say, "Y'all come go with us!" I haven't heard either of those in awhile.
