My sheepherding champion border collie (see pic) turns 11 in a couple of weeks. She's still going strong, working the sheep, hasn't lost a step ... performs her outruns at full speed. Still does the right thing when I give her the wrong command. All dogs are angels.
Sweety Zeus. My lab died last year but made it to 14.5 years; most of his muzzle and the tops of his paws were white. Make sure Zeus gets adequate scratches--that's very important to elderly dogs. It's science.
Her name was Nika. She answered to that name. She was not proud. Didn't chase the deer when they were a hundred yards away. Did answer the call to dinner, and never pooped on the floor until she couldn't help it.
Until I looked at the date on the picture, I was wondering if Zeus was along on your trip. An Audi TT would be a real squeeze for the three of you, that is unless you had Zeus on the roof ala Mitt Romney.
Happy birthday, Zeus! We have a big black cat who I love very much but my son in Chattanooga has a big yellow lab, Calvin, who just turned 9. I am spending the week after next with my son to help him as he recovers from some minor surgery and I will get to spend the whole week walking and looking after Calvin. He's a great dog, as all labs are, he is so much fun. He knows me and always gets excited when I show up. It will be a great spending the whole week with both of them.

Black Labs Matter.
What a beauty. I bet he's got a few more gray hairs in that muzzle now.
Who's a good boy?
We all know the answer.
traditionalguy wins the thread with comment #1!!!
He's obviously still not tired of the winning!!
All labs matter but one lab matters most... to us.
Happy birthday, old friend!
Happy Birthday, Zeus!
Good dog!
The only problem as dogs age is that their lives are shorter than ours. It's tough to lose them. Twelve is a pretty old age for purebred dogs.
Good on ya, Zeus!

I lost my large shepherd-mix last year. About 14 years. She was a loving guide to us all.

Wish people were more like dogs, the world would be a better place. Happy Birthday Zeus!

How kind of you to use an old photo of Zeus. Shows less grey around the muzzle.
Hmmm. Which begs a question about the photo of you that you use, Ann . . . .
Happy 10th, Zeus!
But not all dog stories are the same: A Passing Snow…
Happy birthday, Zeus!
Glad to see a Zeus picture. Nothing recent to post? The pup blog has nothing new since I last checked it out. Miss the dog pics.
