"The anti-Semitic threats targeting our Jewish community and community centers are horrible and are a painful and a very sad reminder of the work that still must be done to root out hate and prejudice and evil."
AND: "Such an odd way of speaking, not just the announcement of a fact in the future (that is outside of his control and unlikely) — 'It's going to stop' — but putting the future before the present — not 'It has to stop and it's going to stop,' but the other way around."

Jeepers. This is news? Various Jewish leaders want the Trump administration to word its denunciations of anti-Semitism differently.
Take that, Joe and Mika. But does he really mean it?
Presidential pap.
Get back on the anti-PC track.
Or maybe it's those Jooos who are secretly hoping the Mohammedans eat the Christians first. And FYI, Milo's mother is Jewish.
Where's that second language parsing quote from?
While he's at it, he could address rampant anti-semitism in Muslim countries, and pledge not to import any of it into the U.S.
Sad that he has to pander.
Trump responded to a Jewish reporter the next day who asked him a question about the incidents by telling him to "sit down" and accusing the reporter of misleading him. The president insisted he is “the least anti-Semitic person that you've ever seen in your entire life.” Jonathan Greenblatt, the national director and CEO of the Anti-Defamation League, called Trump’s response “mind-boggling” and “shocking.”
Jewish Reporter Who Was Told By Trump To Sit Down Defends Him
Video:
"I’m with him when it comes to being outraged... It is very unfair what’s been done to him,” Turx stated. “So I understand why he’s so defensive. I’m with him when it comes to being outraged about him being charged with this anti-Semitism.”
Chance this will stop Left-wing Jews from calling Trump Hitler or a Nazi.
Zero.
"Jewish Reporter Who Was Told By Trump To Sit Down Defends Him" It was an interesting part of the interview. I didn't hear the first line of the question, "No one in my community (Chassidim or some such) believes the stories that you are anti-Semitic." I suspect that Trump didn't either, or just forgot about it. He reacted as if the reporter called him an anti-Semite. As the reporter said, an obvious miscommunication, no biggie.
1/3 of USA billionaires Jewish. 12 Senators and 3 SCOTUS judges Jewish. Editors/Owners of WaPo, Wall Street Journal, and NYT's - Jewish. Most Hollywood Stuidio heads - Jewish. People who make Anti-Semitic statements are run off Youtube, blacklisted in Hollywood, and risk social sanctions.
But still a poor, powerless, beleaguered minority.
Hope Trump's words will help them.
I saw the Anne Frank Center trending on Twitter. They're calling Trump the most anti-Semitic President in history. It's full-on anti-Trump hysteria on their feed.
Syllogism:
I don't like Trump
I don't like anti-semites.
Ergo: Trump is an anti-semite.
QED
Did he ask, "Where is the display of Mr. Justice Thomas?".
My sister, who is Jewish and doesn't like Trump, at least admits he is not antisemitic. Good grief! His favorite daughter is Jewish!
"But still a poor, powerless, beleaguered minority."
There's two distinct kinds of racial biases. The first assumes a position of superiority over the other, dehumanizing people of a particular race, deriding them for lesser qualities and deserving shabby treatment.
The second assumes a position of inferiority before the other, superhumanizing people of a particular race as being dangerous, cunning, taking over, accumulating wealth and power which will be use to control others.
Both result in racist/religious persecution, though with different justifications. The history of Jewish success in society alongside often massive persecution is the clearest example of the second type.
"Editors/Owners of WaPo, Wall Street Journal, and NYT's - Jewish."
Well, probably not the NYT. Sulzbergers still have it on sufferance from Mr. Slim, who is Mexican-Lebanese.
Why is this even an issue for the President to comment on? Remember when Obama opined on Trayvon Martin, the Cambridge professor who broke into his own house, the “gentle giant,” etc. and how well THAT turned out? Let law enforcement do their jobs and leave it at that.
Slim owns 16% of Class A shares. The Sulzbergers all the Class B shares. The Chairman of the Board is a Sulzberger.
"We have two classes of stock: Class A Common Stock and Class B Common Stock. Holders of Class A Common Stock are entitled to elect 30% of the Board of Directors and to vote, with holders of Class B Common Stock, on the reservation of shares for equity grants, certain material acquisitions and the ratification of the selection of our auditors. Holders of Class B Common Stock are entitled to elect the remainder of the Board of Directors and to vote on all other matters. Our Class B Common Stock is principally held by descendants of Adolph S. Ochs, who purchased The Times in 1896. A family trust holds approximately 90% of the Class B Common Stock. As a result, the trust has the ability to elect 70% of the Board of Directors and to direct the outcome of any matter that does notr equire a vote of the Class A Common Stock"

Yeah, except that's never happened in the USA. I find all this anti-anti-semitism overdone when there's little or no antisemitism. But if you want to keep battling phantoms go at it.

We have very few "hate-crimes" in any category. Well, any category except "fake".
That said -
"If we normalize the proportion of hate crimes by the size of the religious population, then anti-Jewish hate crimes are, on a per capita basis, 1.7 times more frequent than anti-Muslim hate crimes, and 105 times more frequent than anti-Catholic hate crimes!"
@traditionalguy "Milo's mother is Jewish".
And......?
"Slim owns 16% of Class A shares. The Sulzbergers all the Class B shares. "
But Slim held their high risk debt, converted it into equity, and is their lender of last resort, having such a large stake in the NYT.
Influence on the company is not strictly according to the articles of incorporation, and the relative value of class A and B may not be what one thinks in the case of a company that has a long term viability problem. Class A can be dumped at will, or more so than class B.
Unfortunately, "attacking" racism usually means yelling at the presumed racists and stirring up racial animosity. I would say Denzel Washington jr and Beyonce have done more for racial harmony than most "activists" who start riots. The emphasis the past few years on the yelling and calling people racist has had a negative effect on racial harmony, not positive.
Come to think of it, my only experience as a victim of ethnic/whatever dislike was a couple of drunk Indians in Denver following me and saying "Hey Jew" at me. I'm not Jewish but I look a bit like the-part-fly-math-guy in Jurassic Park. That and a lively group of oppressed Negroes saying they were going to kill me for being white in their 'hood, as is their wont and civil right.
As regards the "odd way of thinking" I have noticed Trump using this manner of thought on several occasions. This is a profoundly spiritual way of thinking. His speaking an idea into existence mirrors God proclaiming let there be light and there was light. This proclamation of inevitable success is not wishful thinking but a determination that this will come to pass. The effort is not mentioned. A better way of living your internal life is to proceed as if success is a given.
I saw this somewhere else, and I wish I could take credit for it.
What's the difference between a liberal Jew, and Donald Trump?
Trump has Jewish grand-kids!!
Remember kids, this never happened.
I hadn't before realized that there was an Althouse "Trump rhetoric" tag. I must bookmark that one.
The reporter wasn't told to sit down because he's Jewish. It's because he's a lesbian.
Tradidionalguy,
"Or maybe it's those Jooos who are secretly hoping the Mohammedans eat the Christians first"
Yes - they don't have to be faster than all the Muslims, just faster than at least one of the Christians.
I clicked through to the article at The Hill and after reading a few comments I can see why Trump has been reluctant to go there--it makes no difference. The people who hate him, hate him and it's just insane. If you haven't done so, go there and read the comments.
these people are full of hate and quite deranged. (I'm talking about the liberals who dominate those comments.) Hate for Trump, hate for anyone who voted for him, hate for anyone who disagrees with them.
The Hill's comments have really become a sewer--every article seems to attract absolutely vile comments from one side or the other.
Here's the head of the Ann Frank Center on Trump's comments:
Make no mistake: The Antisemitism coming out of this Administration is the worst we have ever seen from any Administration. The White House repeatedly refused to mention Jews in its Holocaust remembrance, and had the audacity to take offense when the world pointed out the ramifications of Holocaust denial. And it was only yesterday, President’s Day, that Jewish Community Centers across the nation received bomb threats, and the President said absolutely nothing. When President Trump responds to Antisemitism proactively and in real time, and without pleas and pressure, that’s when we’ll be able to say this President has turned a corner. This is not that moment.
Trump and his son-in-law should tell these people to go fuck themselves.
That's why all the pandering and all the "I'm against Racism more then anyone" statement get Trump and conservatives nowhere.
You will never please these people. The left is never going to give conservatives a "I'm not a racist certificate" because they want to keep beating the Right with the "You're a racist" stick FOREVER.
Some people get it, some people don't.
Maybe armies of black Trump supporters should march around with swastikas on their sleeves just for the heck of it. Accused of being Hitler? Maybe we should start acting like Hitler. Just for the heck of it.
"lifelong republican" Chuck: "I hadn't before realized that there was an Althouse "Trump rhetoric" tag. I must bookmark that one"
Althouse ought to add a "Child Attacker" tag as well, seeing as how some commenters here have made quite a game of that.
