There are "maybe two tubes" of Maybelline cobalt blue mascara left in the world, so all the models in the show were made up from the one tube the makeup team possessed.

They called out "Blue mascara! Blue mascara!" and — using fresh wands for each model — applied "the inky formula... 'literally just on the outer ends.'"

What a gushy article (in the NYT) about a specific product from a particular manufacturer that is planning to bring back the discontinued color.

It's perfectly easy to buy L'Oreal cobalt blue mascara — here, at Amazon, for less than $6. Not really pushing it. I kind of hate mascara. I googled "I hate mascara" to get something to add to this post and the first couple things that came up were promoting eyelash extensions. I read that you could save time by going to a salon once a month and sitting there for an hour while somebody glues polyester threads (or mink hairs) one by one to individual eyelashes. Seriously, I went to a piece at Jezebel that I thought might channel my feelings on the subject of mascara because it was titled "Never Wear Mascara Again," and it turned out to be raving about how simple it was to live under such a regime. Even sleep — sleep with crap glued to your eyelashes — was better:
[S]leep is so precious now that I'm not going to wake up an extra 45 minutes earlier just to do my makeup.... I'd rather carve out an hour one Saturday a month—in which I get to sleep while one person does my lashes and another gives me a complimentary foot massage—instead of spending tens of minutes in my bathroom working on my eyes every single day.
People have very different ideas about what constitutes convenience.

Sorry this post has nothing to do with Donald Trump. Or does it?

In the future, put that sentence at the beginning of your article.

Don't be sorry! There is life outside of politics, really there is. The Dumbocrats just don't get how sick and tired ordinary people have become with "everything is political."

NYC Values has everything to do with Donald The Conqueror. It was his first prize.

All that small bldg at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue needs is a Logo Trump sign in cobalt blue.

It's a series of tubes.

Men don't care.
Don't do this for our sake, it is wasted effort.
We are much simpler creatures than women seem to imagine.

Fashion Models backstage in various stages of undress, but mostly topless wearing thongs and high heels, fighting over a single tube of mascara.

Replace 'mascara' with 'cock' and NOW you have a story.

I am Laslo.

The author and I apparently have completely different mascara application strategies. It takes me approximately 30 seconds, including curling. I timed my typical make-up application a few weeks ago, just out of curiosity, and it was about 5 minutes, total. I have no idea what the author is doing with the other 40 minutes.

Those eyelash extensions are crazy expensive - as in, hundreds of dollars a month at a reputable salon. But if you've got the money, time, and desire, I guess go for it.

I've never been a fan of makeup on women at all, mostly because it's so damn bad-tasting when you're making out at the end of a date.

Given the politicization of everything, particularly social media, anything Amazon (The Social Media of Things) now has to do with Donald Trump now.

Amazon drove the Washington State suit against Trump's travel ban; earnings from Amazon funded it.

If you buy your mascara (or many other things) from Amazon, you spend your mascara dollars against Trump.

If you buy your mascara (or many other things) directly from non-politicized merchants instead, you remain financially neutral with respect to Trump.

Laslo,

I don't know, I like them with much more substance and not such a lot of pathos and anxiety.

The nature of things in that business seems to be like it would amount to exploiting semi-insane Ethiopian refugees.

Why the women who they are marketing to put up with this, I have no clue.

They don't. They do it for themselves and other woman. I'm not sure why, but then I'm not a woman.

If I cared even a little I'd say someone should investigate the commercial relationship btw the Times and Maybeline's corporate parent. Your Trump angle would be Conway's "buy Ivanka's line!" blunder and the blending of corporate and non-corporate speech (using the "news" to help promote products w/o notice and using the power of the government to promote specific products/brands).

Someone would have to assume the institutions in question aren't already "corrupt," though, and as far as I can tell people like me already fully distrust the Media & government in general and people on the other "side" already fully distrust the current Administration...so not much room for gain, there. Sad!

I hated mascara until I bought Blinc mascara. It's a completely different product than regular mascara. I'm running out, so I bought another tube through the portal.

It takes 10 seconds to put on mascara. What are people doing the rest of the time?

Looking back, never have been seriously with a woman who used much, if any, makeup. My partner can use it, and does, when we go out. She had to, in her modeling days. Her view is that makeup is for women who don't have perfect features. No ego there. She learned how do apply in professionally, along with walking with a book on her head, in maybe 8 years of modeling school (her mother thought that it would help with her shyness). Now? Maybe once a month - maybe. Last time was Christmas dinner, though I expect to see her wearing some this week in Vegas for some obscure holiday that guys just don't get.

The NYT is such a terrible newspaper they cannot fact check something disprovable through a 2 second search? Why are we supposed to believe anything they write?
