From
a prominent NYT article about the comedienne's standup act:
During a riff about rescue dogs and self-righteous pet owners who say things like “Did I rescue the dog, or did the dog rescue me?” Ms. Jones spun a wicked fantasy.
“How about both of y’all get caught in a fire, and neither one of y’all get rescued?” she said.
Also:
“If I see another
45-year-old white woman from Williamsburg saying ‘black lives matter,’
I’m going to punch you in the mouth,” Ms. Jones said. “Stop doing that.”
When
she observes these political protests, Ms. Jones said: “Not one black
woman out there. Black woman at home watching ‘Housewives of Atlanta.’”

Black TV matters.
It seems like she doesn't like self righteous white people. I too, am not overly fond of such people.
She sounds a bit like Lamar, doesn't she? ;-) Black people, by and large, don't appreciate or respect whites who try to be 'one of them'. They ain't.
I adore her. I think she's a huge talent.
Wow is she funny.
Still loaded with race. White woman, black woman. Eddie Murphy emptied that pot of comedy more than thirty years ago.
I'm tired of black comedians doing "look, I'm black! and I'm gonna say things you white people can't say, including that we black people are all crazy, and you white people are all crackers!"
I find myself agreeing with both Leslie and Bob Ellison. Weird.
“If I see another black female celebrity or activist bitching about white women, I’m going to punch you in the mouth,” I said. “Stop doing that.”
Nah, not really. In this case getting punched in the mouth by the likes of Leslie Jones would probably do those silly bints a power o' good.
why is she called a commedienne? she's not funny. her whole deal is race.
What race were the dogs?
Wow. Sounds like she's as wonderful a lady as Milo claimed she is.
I hate those stupid stickers too ("Who rescued who?" *pawprint*) because I am annoyed by people who try to make animals into people and also because they are ungrammatical.
Wow, are we allowed to criticize Ms. Jones? Larry Wilmore may get really, really mad at us.
And they said she wasn't funny in Ghostbusters.
I've never seen her in anything except commercials. I like the commercials. "You want my number?"
She's not funny. Her insurance commercials highlight her repellent personality and her SJW-ish movie did stink, just like Milo said. In other words she is perfect for the modern SNL cast. Oh and she sounds like a racist too. Perfect.
She probably ain't guys' first choice, but she's used her natural gifts and turned weaknesses into strengths.
The fact that a lot of people around her are suddenly incentivized to treat her as useful...isn't exactly her fault.
Most people, most of the time, seek to maximize their own advantage, so wouldn't you just let a lot of nitwits give you a job and blabber on about 'the struggle' if they treated you decently?
I call my dog a "pound dog" if asked where I got her.
Never "rescue dog." Never volunteer her origin.
I'm an asshole in enough ways that there is no need to layer it on.
The problem isn't the crap about rescue dogs or BLM, everything should be fodder for comedy. The problem is she isn't funny at all.
Misplaced, I don't want to "make animals into people" either, but Lili and Charlie (our cats) are more than beasts.
I'm waiting for Laslo's comment.
The persistent pretentious preening of upper class whites is really annoying....to everyone. I'm glad she is calling them out on it.
As a comedian. Not so very funny.
"I'm tired of black comedians doing "look, I'm black! and I'm gonna say things you white people can't say, including that we black people are all crazy, and you white people are all crackers!""
Well, some of us surely.
I might be more open to her if she hadn't had a part in murdering what was left of the Ghostbusters franchise.
She's still not funny.
But in this case (and probably many more) she is correct.
Well, lets be honest, Static- you can't kill what Ghostbusters II had already slaughtered.
interesting patois.
A truly American one.
Speaking as a dog rescuer, I'm Offended (TM).
Jon Katz, author of numerous books about dogs, wrote about the problems of people who adopt rescue dogs that shouldn't have been rescued. I agree that it's a problem.
As to Leslie Jones, meh.
I would rather hear someone say their dog rescued them than to hear them call it their furbaby.
Yancey Ward: There was a Ghostbusters video game that came out in 2009 with the original actors doing the voices that was basically the third movie. It was pretty good based on the reviews. (It's on my long list of things to do.) There was hope.
Do not confuse this with the 2016 game that came out with the new feminist movie. That one was horrible. The Angry Joe review of it turned into a suicide/murder/suicide.
Personally, I preferred the Red Letter Media review.

They hated the film, but made the case that Leslie Jones was the best part of it.
