"Elon Musk: Humans must merge with machines or become irrelevant in AI age."

I'm reading this and saying: "Didn't we already do that?" And Meade answered: "It started with the bicycle."

Nostradamus he's not.

Human beings have an uncanny ability to rapidly recognize and abandon evolutionary dead ends. Like Twitter. Or creatures calling themselves "Elon Musk".

Bicycle?

More like the hatchet.

Maybe a spear.

Or a rock.

I am My Name Goes Here.

Musk is about to collide with reality, as Juan Williams thinks Republicans are doing.

The subsidies are going away.

Maybe he is smart enough to make it without them but he will be busy with that for a while.

Not impressed with Musk. Not impressed with autonomous cars. Not impressed with AI, either.

I foresee a future where humans don a machine to accomplish a certain task and for others tasks don different machines. Someone should invent something like cab to the airport or something.

Sounds crazy, I know, but I bet people would get so used to using machines or even being inside them they wouldn't think twice.

I suspect the feeling is mutual.

And Elon Musk wants to build and sell those machines with federal tax subsidies.

For decades, I have irked my science-fiction- loving Star-Wars, Star-Trek friends, that, NO, there is no evidence of space aliens out there in the unverse - there's just us on one lonely planet amidst a gazillion stars.

I feel the same way about AI and robots, Mostly, it's just hype stimulated by Hollywood, subsidized by the Govt.

We shall see.

"Oh, man has invented his doom, first step was touching the moon", I don't think Dylan is in favor of too much merging.

Geneticist Yusra Khogali explains why only white ppl need technology:

White ppl are recessive genetic defects. this is factual. white ppl need white supremacy as a mechanism to protect their survival as a people because all they can do is produce themselves. black ppl simply through their dominant genes can literally wipe out the white race if we had the power to.

Is this an argument for sex robots?.......Many here will argue that virtual reality is the future of human sexuality, but my money's on sex robots. Sex robots seem more traditional and in accordance with our institutions.

We live in an era of too much information and too much trying to sort through it in hopes of finding something. It's the equivalent of over eating. It creates a situation of excess unattractive behaviors, emotional and physical. Depression and obesity are directly linked with too much screen time.

Evolution has a way of weeding out bad ideas and the people who consume too much of them; like sitting around in front of a screen too much and interfacing with MSM and social media propaganda. People who sit in front of screens for the majority of their lives won't reproduce, the producers and consumers of this stuff will die off.

Technology is best suited as a supplementary tool, not a complimentary be all and end all. libertarians think it's the ladder. They're stupid, they won't be passing on their genes.

I became one with a Skilsaw and a lawnmower over the weekend. Does that count?

Anyone else remember the 80's, when Japan was going to take over the World? All the usual suspects said so. Time, Newsweek. They were going to do it with -- AI! They had a Project, with a name, and billions of dollars in funding, back when a billion dollars was a lot.

Like the poor, AI is always with us.

Speaking of artificial evolution, yesterday was Darwin Day;

"But I am very poorly today & very stupid & hate everybody & everything. One lives only to make blunders. I am going to write a little Book for Murray on orchids & today I hate them worse than everything so farewell & in a sweet frame of mind, I am | Ever yours | C. Darwin"

Speaking of Darwin and natural selection, people are getting dumber.

Musk's real problem is that any enhancement to humanity will itself be a technology that's subject to obsolescence. Imagine generations of obsolete, augmented humans.

"I feel the same way about AI and robots,"

Its not just AI and robots, all sorts of things reduce human labor; AI and anthropomorphic robots as such haven't really had much impact. Semi-specialized but flexible technologies have done a very great deal to reduce human labor requirements though.

Siri is a prime example of "merging with an AI".

"The Six Million Dollar Man" is slouching towards Bethlehem, and there will come a day when we peasants won't get to reproduce even if we want to--which most of us don't (much) any more anyway.

"It started with the bicycle."

Interesting notion. Focuses on one machine for one person. I might go earlier. The rifle. The bow and arrow.

Kit Carson বলেছেন...

he's talking about the creation of a successor species to the human race, like homo sapiens technicus or something. i oppose it. my guess is it will lead to a war of annihilation between the Trads, traditional humans, and the Mods, the successor species. hang on to your hat folks, we're picking up speed.

We use tools. It started with fire before we were human. Power under control, that is what makes us men.

"It started with the bicycle."

That's when I knew Butch and Sundance were going to die.

Bicycles! Your world is over. Future is now.

(Interestingly, they play "Raindrops Keep Falling On Your Head," a very modern song for a western, during the bicycle scene).
