The 10-year-old boy did a great job of standing there stoically at 3 a.m. Imagine being thrust into the public spotlight like that!

Rousted out of a deep sleep, suited up like an adult, and stood on the stage to be gawked at by a billion people. It was a surreal moment for all of us, but what was it to the boy? Now, a GIF has been made of the funniest second of the child's struggle, and people a Facebook watch it loop and they laugh.

Now, he must go live in the White House. When is the last time a boy has been made to live as the only child in the White House? John John had a sister. Poor Barron! My heart goes out to him. He's doing a great job. The idea that this GIF shows that he doesn't respect his father makes me sad. How hard he tried at 3 a.m. to do what was right, but the boy's eyes rolled back for a second, perhaps into sleep, and it amused the crowd.

As the child of The President will Barron be 'off limits' to media criticism in the way that Chelsea Clinton has been for 24 years?

Of course. If there's one thing our press values over impartiality and lack of bias, it's total consistency.

Well he's already led a very unusual life. This experience might be taking it to another level but it's not as unusual for someone of his background as it would be for a kid who grew up in a middle class background.

He's a very handsome boy...I'm thinking that a lot of young girls are going to have Barron fever soon.

He's such a cutie. I have a couple around that age. That's exactly what I'd expect of them. I doubt his mother will allow him to be in the public eye any more than absolutely necessary due to the meanness of his father's opposition. I sure wouldn't. Hope they can protect that boy.

I asked my spouse while watching this: "what's with the white tie on the boy, you can hardly see it?".

Only she would have observed the three ties on stage Trump's, Barron's and Pence's were red, white and blue. I smiled.

I had similar thoughts when I saw the video of Trump's speech. Poor little thing can barely keep his eyes open after what was probably already a long day.
That said, one other thing I have noticed about This whole sorry mess was how well Trump's children all appear to have been raised. I believe that this is because HE was deeply involved in their lives, not some nanny or parent-lite surrogate. I can imagine Trump telling him, "I know your tired son, but I want you to be here, with me. This is a night you will remember for the rest of your life and I don't want you to miss it."
I know I would have.

Yeah, but that might not be the preferred narrative, regardless, I don't think the negative spin will hurt Trump's son.

I was at Chuck Schumer's primary victory speech almost 20 years ago. This poor boy has nothing on Schumer's exhausted daughter. What was this child doing the next morning? Sleeping, I hope. After just a few hours sleep, Schumer's still exhausted daughter was at the bus stop on her way to school. Nobody would have criticized Schumer if he let her sleep in, but no. There were cameras to pander to and walking his daughter to the bus stop is too great a media moment pass up.

She can sleep after the election is over. She was seven, after all.

Not worried about the Trump kids. He obviously loves his children! Like Obama loves his kids.

That's one of the ugly aspects of modern politics, the attacks on children. Saw it with Clinton, Bush, Obama and now Trump. We all ought to be mindful of our attacks on the family members of people in power. Not cool.

I did it myself, in the white heat of the primaries. Linked to an unflattering photograph of Barron looking smug. Really ugly move on my part. My apologies.

Trump's Friend Barron Hilton, the son of Conrad Hilton was named Barron after his mother's maiden name and a few years ago Trump came to the rescue of Barron Hilton by buying his newly built Hotel in Atlantic City after Hilton was surprisingly denied a gaming licence and Trump even paid the full price.

I don't know if Trump and Barron Hilton are close friends but they do share some painful history given that they both are younger sons of very successful self-made men each having an older and less gifted brother who became an alcoholic and died young. Barron Hilton is the younger brother of Conrad Hilton Jr (Nicky) who also was Elizabeth Taylor's first husband. Barron Hilton is the grandfather of Paris and Nicky Hilton.

I wonder if Trump named Barron after Barron Hilton or if they just liked the name.

I cringed when I saw he was going to be on camera for the victory speech. I was thinking there was no way he was going to be able to stand there at 3am and not do something to create a vicious meme for the poor-loser lefties. But he really pulled it off. I don't think I could have done it. The Dems can run the gif and laugh and while we solidify the supreme court, gut Obamacare, secure the border, and drain the DC swamp.

His liberal friends' comments uniformly said some version of "I hate Trump too, but this is a terrible thing to say, you can't pick on the kid." Facebook friend excoriated them in return. This is what Baron, and all of us, have to look forward to.

Did anyone notice how Crooked Hilary looked at 3AM as she stood in front of her supporters giving her concession speech and thanks for all their efforts?

Are there any GIFs of that floating around?

Oh, never mind. She basically said fuck you to her supporters, hit the bottle and went to bed. She couldn't even be bothered to make an appearance.

Two other interesting things I heard about Javits Center Tuesday night.

they had a hard deadline of 2AM. The National Association of Broadcasters was having their convention the next day and the entire Hilary! apparatus had to be removed so the NAB could be set up by 8AM.

There was a fake (naturally) glass ceiling that was supposed to crack dramatically when Crooked Hilary passed 270. Needless to say, they didn't need it. They could have sent it over to Trumpville for Kellyanne Conway to use but naaaah. Her first doesn't count.

These two things, especially the 2AM moveout, makes me think that Crooked Hilary still, Tuesday afternoon, thought she would win in an early landslide. Fuck you, Hilary. Fooled again.

Even worse for the billion dollar a year establishment, Barron ran his dad's Colorado campaign for a fraction of the usual amount. And he did pretty well, and probably moved more Johnson voters into his Dad's camp than anyone else could have. Either way a giant FU delivered as only Andrew Jackson could would have done. Amazing what an old fashioned nuclear family can nature and grow when we, they recognize there is no important vocation, something that can't be trusted to another, nanny or day care. Of course only the Left would make this impossible, but Mr. T. seems to understand and is using his new tax policies to make this possible for at least some. With school choice being equally important when the parent's jobs have been lost to regulation so both must work. What a desert the left leaves in their wake. Now if they'd only study it with the religious intensity they do of sunlight shining on a bottle of carbon dioxide. Then again, I'm surprised Ms. Lynch didn't have the FBI standing outside to arrest (and convict) the parents for child abuse. Of course the FBI has never prosecuted anyone or said anything about "is there enough evidence to prosecute" that's not their job. It's prosecutor, a gran jury, A U.S attorny's and even AJ's job. They can chose to prosecute on a whim, an upset stomach or a bad day. Then again, this means they have to take responsibility, and if our AG did her job or left it to a special prosecutor we'd have a repeat of the Saturday Night Massacre. Full circle tragedy for Ms. C. And we certainly can't have that. So let the person of no stus or responsibility catch this spear and sacrifice himself for the sisterhood. good fun.

The last 6 months is probably the most time he's spent with his father since he was born. Not respect him? Doesn't even know him.

Those 3 kids were raised by their mother, with their father only showing interest in them when they went to college. I suspect he had to pull some serious strings to get those boys admitted to Penn. Ivanka, no problem, she is the brain trust of the group.

Leave the kids alone, even if you hate their parents it isn't their fault.

I watched it live and felt sorry for the poor kid, forced to wear a white tie at 3 AM. Even as an adult I wouldn't like it, and I'd probably load myself with caffeine to get through it. Kids can't even do that.

(But I hope Trump has trouble living on the reduced salary and we get to see that pants suit on Melania again.)
