"That gave me a strange chill up the right side of my neck. Very physical!"

I said. About this. Audio here.

Wonderful! The best I've heard.

Wow! That was special, and we are very used to good Orchestral Rhapsody in Blue performances. The ASO used to have Saturday Afternoon Champagne Concerts of all Gershwin music, which we took the teen age kids too every year. It has never sounded better.

Too trombone.

Well, of course it's the dirtiest ever, the clarinetist is Italian. Sto venendo!

Since cultural discussions here invariably end up political, the shortcut is called "Chris Matthews"

Nice, but don't hold a candle to a well fiddled Orange Blossom Special.

The acoustics of the room helped.

I've always wondered why Jeff Beck never added "Rhapsody in Blue" to his repertoire.

My favorite piece of classical music since I first listened to a Bernstein recording at 13. This one I think

part of it is anodyne CD's that are perfect renditions that can be listened to over and over never have this sort of one off verisimilitude - as to your visceral response, my idée fixe for decades has been that music is (in part) physical gesture made audible - it touched you

Meh. I've listened to amazing clarinet at close range, and this is the equivalent of one of those piano players that try to play all 88 keys as loud as possible all at once.

The idea one has "chills" unstrange is chilling.

To US, THE PEOPLE.

Almost all our chills are strange hence the term Chill itself used.

And you, a chiller.

I'll be the same, but call me different.
Namely, "Angel" from Jimmy Rockford's show.

I will hav a pic for you folks.

Could be Vinton from ""Mama's Family" too God forbid.

Iother way God bless.

Guild says: Google "goodbye says it all" by Blackhawk. Please.

It has truly been my honor.

Clarinetist here.

Apparently that's what the conductor wants, and that's what we get. I'm sure it gets your attention, but that's a bit much for me. I could do it this way, but I wouldn't. Unless that's what the conductor asks for. I'm pretty sure the reed/mouthpiece setup is not the same one the player uses for Brahms or Mozart. Lighter reed, wider tip opening for this.

Attention getting, yes. It's all a bit loud to me, the orchestra as well. YMMV.

nice. have heard many recorded performances

I clicked off it after a couple of measures. Too shrill. Just because you can doesn't mean you should.

Didn't do much for me. But what would the world be if we were all touched by the same things in the same way?

Wilbur ayon kay ...

Sounded to me like he was needy, trying too hard.

Curious George ayon kay ...

Needs more cowbell.

traditionalguy ayon kay ...

Needs more Porgy and Bess.
