My parents just attended Dad's 50th reunion (no, really!) at UW/Madison. It was my birthday yesterday (49, urgh), and his in a couple of days (76, double-urgh), but they both seemed cheerful, and they drove from MD to WI and back. Stopping in Ohio one direction and Indiana the other. Amazing.
I offered to hook them up with you, Ann, but they were busy tracking down old friends.
And they got me kringle! I've never been more excited by a gift in my life. From a Danish-immigrant company in Racine.
I went to my 50th medical school reunion two weeks ago.
One interesting little sidelight is that, of the half my class who went into psychiatry (33), only three went to the reunion. Of the rest almost all were there except the 12 who are deceased.
The bio is wrong because the grandfather is the one who came from Germany. His father, my classmate, is almost certainly American born. Maybe he was an infant in Germany. Anyway, I hope the son looks out for the father. The father, Mike, also did not attend the reunion.
I understand Mark, the artist, has sold a painting for $4.5 million.
Yes, isn't it ? My daughter works in another gallery that sells similar art. Not to my taste but I asked her if she knew who he was and she said, "He's Huge !"
Ann, you should check out the new James O'Keefe video. In it is mentioned something close to your home. Looks like they purposely set up Scott Walker at some event. I'm sure you'd remember more than I do. You probably even wrote about it here on your site.
Funny, I looked at the same thing and said "PT Barnum was right"
My daughter, who works in one of these "contemporary art" galleries is starting to paint a bit. She works with very successful artists, several of whom are encouraging her. Who knows ?
I am continually surprised at the lack of football talk on this blog! Wisconsin was playing basically the number 1 (or no. 2, who cares at this point - one of the two best) teams in the nation and ....crickets. Are there no football fans at all? And it was even a good game, I heard. Next, Green Bay played Dallas ! It was a stinker for Packers fans, but still. What a weekend for football in Wisconsin. I can only conclude that yall dont like football.
No Badger football fans I suppose. I thought once you all had made it in the top 10, you'd be psyched. Oh well. Not sure you'll be seeing top 10 again any time soon.

Can we talk about the fact that water always finds its lowest level, so that it inevitably falls?
And yet that is a babbling brook, not a waterfall.
Beautiful shades of Green.
Parfrey Glen and the surrounding area-Devil's Lake, and the Baraboo Bluffs are the prettiest part of Wisconsin-in my opinion.
I do like those islands around Superior too-haven't been there in years.
When I visit home we usually go to Parfrey Glen or Devils Lake.
Grab em by the pussy.

Nah, I've been there. It's very lucid.

I do have to give one of the psychiatrists credit for having the most financially successful son, an artist who sells painting for millions.

Very strange!
"I can only conclude that yall dont like football."
I like SC football and have season tickets since 1956, leaving a year for the Air Force.
If you want to know my opinion of the NCAA, put on your asbestos ear muffs.

Why give Curious George an opportunity to be a shit?
