I'm usually a libertarian WHILE I'm sleeping. Because it only works in dreams.

I'll let myself out.

Try sleeping till noon. You'll wake up a teenager.

Althouse--the artsy, hippie chick rules. You believe in personal freedom and individual responsibilty. I have been reading you for twelve years. You can run, but you can't hide.

So easy to sleep in when it cools off.

Liberty to experiment with Drugs is a misnomer for many who are taken prisoner by addiction.

Addicted lives matter. But not until they do the painful work to get liberated from the slow death by drugs sentence.

Liberty to experiment with religion is a misnomer for many who are taken prisoner by religious belief.

In a sane world, responsibility for ones own actions wouldn't be a the bases for an entire political ideology, it would just be the way people are. But we live in a world where libertarians are characterized as extremists, weirdos, nutjobs, amoral hedonists who love guns and drugs, unrealistic and unfeeling and uncaring self centered jerks - assuming people even know what libertarianism is at all.

Prisoner by addiction wears out the health of most of the prisoners. A dark cloud descends on them affecting all their thoughts and actions. Prisoner by religious belief could have the same effect if one is breathatarian or such. But in general there is more opportunity to arise.

Liberty to experiment with drugs doesn't always lead to addictions. And it's prescription painkillers causing most of the issue. So i am not sure if misnomer is the correct term here.

There are societal limits to what you can experiment with. There is a case to be made that making all drugs legal and regulated then forces drug users into making better pre addiction choices. Drug users would get categorized more efficiently.

Libertarians to me are big L and little l. The little l is the person like me who likes to make their own choices and still have some outs. The big L is the insane person picked every 4 years to populate the airwaves with nonsense and gibberish.

Experiments with religion, some even including taking hallucinogenic drugs in most cultures, was a double prisoner taking whammy. That was a good point.

Bottom line: Live free, and try to live like Arnold Palmer.
