"No Tie to Global Terrorism Is Seen" headlines the NYT.

That appeared at the NYT yesterday, at the top of the front page, and you can see the time stamp: 3:20 PM.

That caught my eye because of the way the NYT, in an earlier report, blogged here, made Donald Trump seem bad for for saying "I must tell you that just before I got off the plane, a bomb went off in New York and nobody knows exactly what’s going on." The Times followed that by saying that Hillary Clinton "seemed to scold Mr. Trump for his quick assessment. 'I think it’s always wiser to wait until you have information before making conclusions,' Mrs. Clinton said." The Times omitted what Hillary said right before that: "I've been briefed about the bombings in New York and New Jersey." All we had were 2 candidates having heard about what happened and calling it a bomb. But the NYT presented it to look as though Trump was impulsive and Hillary was sober and thoughtful.

How little should it take before we jump to impugn others for "making conclusions"? If we're going to be super-sensitive, no one will escape reproach. How was it possible for the NYT to say "No Tie to Global Terrorism Is Seen" less than a day after a bomb explodes with an investigation getting underway?

Meanwhile, this morning, we're getting a new report — "Police Raid New Jersey Home in Search of Manhattan Bomber":
Hours after five pipe bombs were discovered near a train station in Elizabeth, N.J., federal agents and the police raided a home nearby early Monday morning as part of the sweeping search for the person or people responsible for Saturday night’s bombing in Manhattan.

The police released a photograph of a 28-year-old man, described as a naturalized citizen of Afghan descent, , [sic] Ahmad Khan Rahami, who is wanted in connection with the attack.
It's just a name. Just a place of origin. Remember: It’s always wiser to wait until you have information before making conclusions.

ADDED: It's dangerous to elevate Hillary Clinton for issuing the sober bromide "it’s always wiser to wait until you have information before making conclusions," because it makes me want to think of the times when she made a conclusion before she had information. For example: "We’ve seen rage and violence directed at American embassies over an awful Internet video that we had nothing to do with."

Well, if the punch wasn't landed according to the Marquess of Queensberry rules, it wasn't really a punch was it? So lay off the New York Times, they have a war-mongering harpy to get elected.

"How was it possible for the NYT to say "No Tie to Global Terrorism Is Seen" Because they prefer to report the perceptions of their favorite prog officials. Who didn't "see 'what they didn't want to see (and may or may not turn out to be right). And who, of course, will split hairs, when it turns out to be another "isolated," "lone wolf" Muslim attack.

They just nabbed themselves a Muslim....But no ties to global terrorism.....it was because of a film, or movie, Benghazi ya know...

Amazing how they solve these "events" so fast, and have the names and addresses of the "perpetrators" within hours. That said, do they not realize that Trump just gained more votes? My local "news" was calling the device a "Bomb" last night, after a clearly drugged up Crooked Old Lady was scolding Trump for "jumping to conclusions about calling it a "bombing""?
Most likely this is a disaffected "Muslim youth" crime that was instigated by the FBI itself--- i.e a false flag, to distract from the implosion of the Crooked Old Lady's health and campaign.

It makes me think of the great efforts she's gone to to prevent us from having information about her.

Jaq म्हणाले...

The Washington Post completely lost credibility with me when they quoted Sarah Palin, left out a few words mid sentence in order to make the quote seem ridiculous, but put in no ellipses to indicate missing words from the quote. I actually wrote the public editor on that one and got a response, she was disgusted. But guess what? She was ignored, and they marched on with their politics of personal destruction. The same dynamic goes on at the New York Times, but I had always thought they were a touch more careful than the joke of a paper down in DC. It's obvious they see getting Hillary elected as more important than whatever values journalists are said to revere.

MayBee म्हणाले...

If people don't want to jump to conclusions, don't jump to any conclusions. "No international tie to terrorism is seen" is just as much making a leap as "this looks like Isis".

It's just that we've been conditioned under Obama to always put the idea that it wasn't Islamic Inspired Terrorism *out* of our mind first. And that's because it serves his political purpose.

MayBee म्हणाले...

Is Obama going to speak to the General Assembly this week? Is he going to reiterate that the future does not belong to those who would slander the Prophet of Islam?

Imagine the comic mileage and honest Saturday Night Live could get out of Hillary. But their politics are the most important thing. That's how they get these jobs, having the right politics, and none of them want to head back to Downer's Grove, or Bakersfield, or wherever they are from with skills that will maybe get them a job as night manager at McDonald's, if they can't do TV.

Rob म्हणाले...

Yes, the New York Times favors Hillary Clinton, but no, we can't hold that against them. Shouldn't one expect the Gray Lady to identify with the gray lady?

Jaq म्हणाले...

Apparently they looked for the ties to terrorism like they looked for evidence that Obama and Hillary "founded ISIS." There were no papers on file in any official repository declaring the relationship so it doesn't exist!

Quit jumping to conclusions. There's a good chance she was simply drunk.

And if you say probably terrorism and later someone just accidentally left their lentils cooking too long....with high explosives..... well, people will say it was a mistake anyone could have made. Probably just a GOPer with a grudge against fine dining!!!" and it turns out to be Islamic terror, you look like an idiot who shouldn't be allowed to run anything.

Since the liberals in power have lost the ability to prevent anything, and have allowed some unknown quantity of infiltration, the only thing they can do is double down and try and convince the public these acts are not terrorism; especially now with 50 days left in the election cycle.

Any narrative they can't control or spin helps Trump. We can pick or fate. Jerusalem and Tel Aviv didn't have much choice. Paris, Brussels, and Cologne did, and we see what has happened to them.

And now there are stabbings in the name of Allah in Lake Wobegon, Minnesota. If you think it can't happen at a train station or a mall near you, you're kidding yourself.

Too bad Garrison Keillor retired. He could have added a new dynamic to the "News From Lake Wobegon". Just think of the additional stories and plot twists if a group of Somalis were settled by St. Paul liberals just outside of town.

There could be a thwarted bombing at Our Lady of Perpetual Responsibility. Pork would be banned from being served at The Moonlight Supper Club, and alcohol at the Sidetrack Tap.

He could even have a story where the Somalis refugees get pissed and trash the Lutheran Church because they think the tuna hot dish they were served at a welcome to town event sucked so bad it was insulting.

The town could be split as a debate arises to tear down the Statue of the Unknown Norwegian.

Oh, and the grab ass sexual assaults. That could just be and ongoing fall back plot.

The storylines are endless.

These bombings didn't kill anyone. Why is this even a story?......Hate facts should be reported on sparingly if at all. They tend to be divisive and not inclusive. This kind of story just plays into Trump's hands, and the best thing to do is completely ignore it........ Newspapers should, instead, utilize more of their limited time and resources into investigating the shady dealings of the Trump Foundation. Those kind of stories are inclusive and make us better Americans.

I know your paragraph above is meant ironically, as you mean to paint the thought processes of the NYTs staff & readership, & not your own.

The problem that the NYTs has with this story is that, with these bombs placed in suburban Jersey & the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan, these bombers are trying to kill THEIR READERSHIP, DAMMIT! That's why, try as everyone might want to bury this story as to not help the Trumpster, it won't stay in the grave.

It's always such a comfort to have a load of codswallop delivered to my breakfast table each morning--and the LA Times and its kuddly klan of kid klown "reporters" gets it done.
