"While in the United States, some of the September 11 hijackers were in contact with, and received support or assistance from, individuals who may be connected to the Saudi Government..."

According to the long-suppressed 28 pages, released today.
The pages also say that the inquiry obtained information "indicating that Saudi Government officials in the United States may have other ties to al-Qa'ida and other terrorist groups," but the commission that authored them acknowledged that much of the info "remains speculative and yet to be independently verified."

I have a feeling that this news is something like a hypothetical in which Dylann Roof had gotten financial aid as a community college student, and someone suggested that the Charleston church terrorist "had U.S. government support."

(I don't know if Dylann Roof ever went to community college or got financial aid.)

Friday news dump.

Man I am so shocked this was released on a Friday afternoon.

The whole statement is about as equivocal as it gets.

Why did anyone bother hiding this?
OBL and many of his friends were well known, independently, to have deep relations with the Saudi PTB. Especially that Saudi intelligence and military were mixed up with the Paki ISI.

Assuming we know who anyone is. A few years ago a top intelligence officer said we weren't quite sure who they attackers really were. When DNA tests were performed on family members of the names we had, they did not match the DNA evidence that had been collected.

Kind of like France releasing the news about the torture:

suppressed by the French government at the time and not published online until this week, that the killers in the Bataclan appear to have tortured their victims on the second floor of the club.

The chief police witness in Parliament testified that on the night of the attacks, an investigating officer, tears streaming down his face, rushed out of the Bataclan and vomited in front of him just after seeing the disfigured bodies.

The 14-hour testimony about the November attacks took place March 21st.

According to this testimony, Wahhabist killers reportedly gouged out eyes, castrated victims, and shoved their testicles in their mouths. They may also have disemboweled some poor souls. Women were reportedly stabbed in the genitals – and the torture was, victims told police, filmed for Daesh or Islamic State propaganda. For that reason, medics did not release the bodies of torture victims to the families, investigators said.

Today is a good day to release this kind of stuff.

BTW, whatever you do racist, don't infer the existence of a pattern.

Hasn't this been pretty much common knowledge for almost 15 years? Next thing you know they'll be telling us that Pakistan's ISI is full of radical Salafist sympathizers.

Drip drip drip, the news on the evil in the ME and the corrupt incompetence of US foreign policy.
Has to keep damaging Clinton's pose as a FP expert. That's all she has besides her last name and her lady parts. And AA voting for her.

Maybe next they can tell us where the Orlando Jihadi's wife went? Amazing the kind of support that these lone wolves seem to be able to get in their "community." She probably travels freely wearing a Burka.

My solution to the Islamist problem hasn't changed much since September 12th, 2001: (a) stop importing Muslims into our country; (b) stop intervening in Muslim countries. The "left" won't tolerate (a) and the "right" won't tolerate (b).

Trump already blamed Bush for 9/11, I can't wait to hear his take on this.

"New: Turkey’s military releases statement saying they "have completely taken over the administration of the country" pic.twitter.com/xioSlrubrp 1:42 PM - 15 Jul 2016"

Statement from military says coup to reinstate Constitutional Order, Human Rights and Freedoms, Rule of Law and general security... Sounds like an anti-Shariah action.

Glad Saudis are getting the attention they deserve as the perpetrators of evil. But in the US, both parties are disinclined to go after them. Bushes licked their feet as does Obama. It has to change.

Re: Michael Fitzgerald:

Erdogan is no friend to us or Western civilisation, but this is high risk. I wonder whether the Russians have had a hand in this. And I wonder whether the US will recognise the coup government, or whether we will throw in our lot with political Islam again, as we tried to do in Egypt, to our cost. Cor, I wonder what the EU will do -- as his doomsday weapon, will Erdogan try to release a wave of "migrants" into the EU?

Or will Islamism prevail and crush the last remnants of secular Turkey? I recall reading before that Erdogan and his movement had seeded fanatics in the army.

Skimmed the first portion. Looks pretty damning. Perhaps this will open some eyes on the impact of the Wahhabi on the whole terrorist scene. It's time we made the Saudi's fish or cut bait. Donald Trump, that damn trouble maker, said this was coming in April.

Sammy Finkelman said...

This is basically not new. What would be important is finding out the reason the Saudi chief of intelligence, Prince Turki bin Feisal, suddenly resigned on Sept 1, 2001 after 24 years.

Jaq said...

Well, Bush is long gone, his policies clearly rejected by everybody but Hillary. I supported him at the time, I can see the error in that now. Hillary does not seem to get it though.

buwaya said...

I've been saying this is going to be a bad year.

My guess - The Saudis are having trouble maintaining subsidies to Erdogan and friends. Their income is way down. Payoffs to the military may have been missed.

"Amazing the kind of support that these lone wolves seem to be able to get in their "community."

Spengler has some suggestions on how to handle this.

The way to win the war is to frighten the larger community of Muslims who passively support terror by action or inaction–frighten them so badly that they will inform on family members. Frightening the larger Muslim population in the West does not require a great deal of effort: a few thousand deportations would do. Western intelligence services do not even have to deport the right people; the wrong people know who they are, and so do many of their neighbors. The ensuing conversation is an easy one to have. “I understand that your nephew is due for deportation, Hussein, and I believe you when you tell me that he has done nothing wrong. I might be able to help you. But you have to help me. Give me something I can use–and don’t waste my time by making things up, or I swear that I’ll deport you, too. If you don’t have any information, then find out who does.”

Nobody believes that Obama or Hillary would do this, at least to Muslims. Maybe Republicans.

But I know somebody who might do it. The guy who said.

Donald Trump professed his love for waterboarding during a campaign rally in Indianapolis, Indiana on Wednesday calling it “great.”

While discussing ISIS, Trump said, “Now we’re living in medieval times. We’re weak, we’re ineffective.”

After slamming Ted Cruz for his “weak, pathetic answer” at a debate regarding waterboarding, Trump said, “They asked me, What do you think about waterboarding, Mr. Trump?’ I said I love it. I love it, I think it’s great. And I said the only thing is, we should make it much tougher than waterboarding, and if you don’t think it works folks, you’re wrong. But you know, there are laws, we have laws that we have to abide by.”

“So I say we’re going to have to strengthen the laws and toughen up the laws, and we’re going to have to make ourselves tougher because they can chop off heads, they can drown people in steel cages,” Trump argued.

We kind of do. We now pump our own thus helping to drive the price down. OPEC is scrambling.
