It's not high on my personal list of worries.
I hope your cairn desecration doesn't lead to tragedy.
For the record, the piled rocks were before the wilderness area began.
The cairns are supposed to mark trails. They're not a public art project. That said, I don't think moving a rock harms anything.

I must say I am not keen on any rock "installations" out in the greatest of all installations. There is an especially offensive bit in Stanley Park in Vancouver which I am ashamed to say I do not kick over every time I pass. I find these the equivalent of putting a t.v. set in front of the Grand Canyon.
wait!! I commented before I hit Fritz' link. The picture of those rocks! Those are the fucking offensive rocks in Stanley Park. I hate them, absolutely hate them. I am with the Enviros on this one.

Whenever I traveled, I always looked at going home as a goal, but it was always travel on business, even if to exotic places, none of which genre attract me as a result.
And I spent every summer vacation as a kid in mountains so I hate them. They spoil the view of the horizon, which is what you get every day in Ohio. Every time you look around in the mountains you're confined in some valley, pretty much.
I flew into a little unmanned grass airport near our vacation spot a few times after I had an airplane; I scarcely noticed the mountains except as a navigational problem, not at all what I imagined as a kid.
Aspen is the favorite destination of rich Europeans. It is hard to find Americans at the resorts in Aspen except for a few old residents who work there.
And the stacking of a pile of rock is a Norwegian custom that signifies a covenant with a loved one that someday you will return there to that mountain together.
I trust we don't have to worry about the LBJ rock being assassinated.
Along the roadways on the island of Hawaii the locals write messages in characters made of small white rocks, seems friendly but there are warnings that it must not continue.

How new age.
A little pet peeve of mine. Nature isn't natural when you fuck around with it. Those rocks were doing just fine where erosion put them. Now they have to wait for an earthquake or some other natural disaster to get back to their migration downhill.
Next time why not spray paint them gold?
