"Paranoia strikes deep. Into your mind it will creep. It starts when you're always afraid...."
Thanks to Paul for linking to that in the comments to my "Feel the Berm" post.
ADDED: How did they film that?

I guess I don't get why a protest song is playing, other than Stills needs the money...
Anti-fear.
What coupe said. Great video with the wrong music.
I can maybe get a vibe on "what's going down", but the vibe is weak.
The video needs something upbeat: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j9eWGdJIW74
I don't get it. But then I didn't get Prince either.
I hope Sony, Trek, Shimano, Evoc and the rest of those bike companies ever choose to lecture me on environmental damage or my carbon footprint. They had to drive bulldozers over that nature preserve to build their cute little bike ramps.
Yeah, I'm grumpy today.
Not the first time I've seen that video. It never gets old.

Ain't Skeered... :-)
I haven't fallen off a bicycle since 1988, which is probably a couple hundred thousand miles ago.
Each fall teaches you something new to avoid, in that case, on wide tires, stop instantly if you have a flat on the front tire. The reason is that steering reverses once the wide casing is loose and you can't balance.
The previous fall, in 1975, taught that even dry pavement at intersections can be slippery owing to oil or grease so take the turns slowly.
Why did he switch bikes?
Can't believe I had not seen this one before. JP Auclair with LCD Soundsystem is still may favorite bike-music video. https://vimeo.com/32863936
Why bother with the helmet?
Super Mario music works better.
Gaia weeps!
Look what Warren Miller has wrought.
My last bicycle fall (many years ago) taught me to never try riding with only one hand on the opposite handlebar. I only needed to do it for an instant while I was shifting something I was carrying, but that instant was enough for a wipe out.
Why the protest song? It's not about the words, it's the way the music, the lyrics and the rider just flow. It helps make the outrageous ride look so mellow, smooth and in complete control. Of course, it has to be, or you get fucked up,.......bad.
Great video. The music works well with it, not so much for the lyrics, but that pinging guitar sound.
What IS that sound anyway?
I never did figure that out.

It allows you to have an open-casket funeral.
It's good that the majority of modern day cons don't need so much resistance before they concede the folly of adventurism.
And, do cons ever make evocative con base music? Presumably they can do better than AM Christian radio and/or Nugent?
Also, I've had serious road rash, though nothing broken. As with Althouse and everyone else, these injuries are a badge of honor. But, if you kill yourself or end up a quad (like one person I know), that's something else.
You know, sometimes a riot on the Sunset Strip smells just like teen spirit, doesn't it? Or does it? No, i think it smells more like fun fun fun till your daddy takes the four wheeler away.
Here we are now. Entertain us.
Couldn't kids just learn how to juggle hammers instead? Same number of brain injuries, but less damage to the remainder of the body.
Well, The Kinks sure did that paranoia song. Yet, The Kinks also did that complicated life song.

For what it's worth, none of you chickenhawk cunts are brave enough to live the central coast lifestyle. Monster waves, monster sharks, mountain biking, mogul skiing, Rubicon Trail 4-wheeling, bear hunting, spear fishing, craft beer, viking women and fish tacos. A little KGB to make you humble in the lap of Gaia.
It sux to be U

So basically you don't know anybody not like you but you are an expert on everybody else. Do you and God have poker games together on Thursday nights?
BTW, the video is beautiful.
"For what it's worth, none of you chickenhawk cunts are brave enough to live the central coast lifestyle."
Spoken like a true keystroke he-man. Or are you a he-woman?
"They had to drive bulldozers over that nature preserve to build their cute little bike ramps"
That was my reaction. Too pretty a place to carve up like that. Are they going to restore it?
It does make one wonder if he is brave enough to walk into a bar in Red America and start ranting about "chickenhawk cunts." It is really all about projection with these keyboard warriors of the left.
Isn't using "cunt" as an insult to men "retrograde" as our hostess would put it?
That line is one of those fill in the blanks. I always go with into your heart...
Maybe Born to Be Wild or Magic Carpet Ride would do. Always reminds me
of Broken Arrow. In Hi School after explainin to a friend what it was about
both realized I had no clue. Cool song tho.
One take
Mario Bros
That guy is good at that.
Why does he switch bikes in the middle?
Why bother with the helmet?
Hides the earpiece that lets the cameraman communicate with him.

I thought Bike #2 had suspension? Better for that big drop at the start.
"I thought Bike #2 had suspension? Better for that big drop at the start."
That makes sense.
That is private land not a nature preserve. Some of you sound like whiny liberals.
The first bike is slope style with a single crown fork and probably 100mm of travel. The second is a downhill bike with a dual crown fork and 200mm of travel. A heavier and burlier build for the bigger drops and gap jumps in the second section. Both are full suspension.
The guitar at the beginning is open string harmonics played through an amp with tremolo.

Haha. No. He wears it to protect his head and face.

Triggered! Reported!
You can't, like, OWN the land, man, it's all of ours. Keep your hands off our lands--Nature is people too!
