Scotland is responsible for the Enlightenment, which we still benefit from today. Without the Scot, you would be kowtowing to Elizabeth We Owe Scotland Almost Everything
The correct reaction to the clip was the fact that the reporter didn't bother to find a couple Trump supporters.
It begins with a reconciliation of individual dignity and intrinsic value with natural imperatives. The failure to reconcile these moral principles with the first-order causative force has sponsored progressive corruption and dysfunction in liberal and primitive societies.
Stornoway on The Isle of Lewis has 14 churches and 12 of them are Presbyterian. It is the most Presbyterian part of Scotland. And it is as far west as Scotland gets. Fishing huge amounts of herring was once its industry, but that went away like Monterrey Bay's sardine fishing went away...by the Providence of God as the Presbyterians say.
This western end of Scotland with its peninsulas and Islands was the home of clan McDonald called The Lord's of the Isles and famous for political leadership of Scotland (See, The Isle of Lewis, by Donald McDonald.)
Once more the TV Networks do a hit piece on a very good man.
The in-the-tank press smells blood in the water, and they're ganging up to reassert their primacy over the narrative and public perception.
Finally, now anything we say will stick, they think.
Indeed.
I await the "news report" that his wife is about to divorce him, as she has realized that Trump hates women.
Sadly, I think think this full court press is working. There is hardly any news medium left that doesn't engage in Trump bashing. I think Trump is finished.
The McLeods of Lewis website says the latest DNA tests show that, rare for Scotland, their Clan has a Norwegian heritage. That figures since it took warriors on ships to get there from wherever across the North Sea. So the Wisconsin folks can all calm down now. Terrible Trump is their Viking cousin.
What an awful piece. They built the whole story on interviews with two people: a writer and a bandleader. Phillips obviously found just the right people to confirm his narrative. Even as they try to destroy Trump, they build him up.
It's not really surprising that folks in the Hebrides have Norwegian ancestry. Norway at one time controlled large portions of the Scottish islands. The Vikings got around. A bit farther west, the Vikings founded Dublin. To the east, they established settlements in what later became Russia (perhaps this is why The Donald is so fond of Putin).

I think there was a brief period there when the MSM eventually concluded their negative Trump spin might help him, and so they backed off and rode the Trump ratings train instead for a while.
The Clan McDonald usually called The Lord's of the Isles were really called The Lairds of the Isles in Norse.
Those guys lived by windy seacoasts...Like New Amsterdam and Palm Beach and Boston. That should get Trump Titus' vote right there. Boston started as the fishing capital of the world for the Grand Banks Cod Fish catch , plus a little lobster and Whale oil.
I think that if they really tried they might have found one or two people who liked him. When a piece of reportage is this obviously slanted, it subverts its own purpose. Watching it, one is more apt to think badly of the media than of Trump.
No, people in Scotland didn't like him long before he ran for President http://youtu.be/hVNxjPcBufQ because he's a man baby jerk. It doesn't help that he is a blowhard man baby entitled American jerk. You want to see poor international relations? Just look at his behavior in Scotland the last 10 years.
So this is not news. Just news to a lot of people who didn't pay attention to Trump before this election season.
The media has heaped scorn ever since he opened his mouth in the 80s to brag how successful he is and flaunted his gaudy nouveau riche lifestyle and personal dramas like the people on such shows as Dynasty.
The media stepped back recently because Trump is a joke and then when viewers responded to the WWE match debates, they knew he would destroy Republicans in this election cycle so they cheered his momentum. Ratings too, but the viewership only helped burn the party down.
The rest will be a cakewalk fo Hillary who will be unstoppable thanks to a backlash in congress giving Democrats the majority in both houses due to voter fears of a Trump presidency and Pelosi will be front and center again.
Don't mention that they bought into Socialism, even more than the Irish. The guy with the big house? They want to kill him. CBS should do an honest report on April 1st each year.
That arrogant Trump has dared to create a situation where this is the first election in our lifetime where we have a choice to elect a candidate not picked for us by our Government. The one that plans our elimination and merger into the World System.
This is a revolting development that cannot stand. We don't want the choice because it frightens us chickens to take on any responsibilty.
Nice little hit piece by CBS. Perfectly reasonable that they couldn't find a single person that has something nice to say about Trump. Or his mother's family.
A number of weeks ago, the idea got stuck in my head that it's high time that I do something like memorize a poem. So I decided to memorize "To a Mouse." In my heart of hearts I figured it would never happen because I'm a procrastinator like you wouldn't believe.
Odd thing is: I actually went ahead and memorized it. Sometimes I recite it like Scotty from Star Trek. Sometimes I recite it like Groundskeeper Willie. Sometimes I do it all moody like my own version of some mythic Scotsman who has foreseen the doom of all creation.
I don't ever perform "To a Mouse" for other people though. That's not my thing. I prefer to recite it out loud while walking alone in the woods, after dinner, politely intoxicated.

My late (sainted in my own mind for having put up with the likes of me) mother was born in Aberdeen, Scotland.
She couldn't stand FDR and certainly wouldn't have voted for the Trumpster.
The only explanation for his standing in the polls:
Half the population is below average in intelligence.

I've been to Lewis. Nice place, at least in August. I'd be very happy if Tromp retired there after the GOP Convention.

Well?
Scotland is responsible for the Enlightenment, which we still benefit from today.
Your link with the dishonest title didn't say it was, probably because it wasn't.

Donald Trump loves Scotland so much that he bans Glenfiddich Whiskey from his properties.

As Scots-Irish on one side, and Scots-Norse on the other, I heartily affirm my people's opinions of Trump!

Darrell - what are you talking about? Trump loves eminent domain, single payer...
If Trump were a Socialist, Scotland would love him. Before they'd kill him and take his shit.
