#BirdieSanders.

Yes, I've noticed this.

Reminds me of Obama and the fly.

Except the bird didn't need killing.

ADDED: I would have expected Bernie to come up with something more interesting to say. He had to imagine a different bird — a dove — and then use that bird for its stock metaphor, peace. Got to give him credit though just for being the sort of man a bird would come up to. Indicates some sort of fine gentleness of the soul. Or so I learned watching Disney movies....

A-well-a, everybody's heard about the bird.

If it's a natural born bird, I'm voting for it.

Meade,
Good try but too strained. Sometimes you just have to leave that pun on the table.

Well, it's not like he's that bright.

See how the bird went to the water bottle? Someone gave that bird a drink from a plastic water bottle at some time in the past and the bird learned to associate a water bottle with a drink.

The bird wanted some of Bernie's water, what's yours is mine like. The Bern didn't share.

Free Bird meets tyranny. That soon to be plucked bird now belongs to The Party.... the party that Bernie rules over because only The Party has shotguns and bird shot.

Trump's private body guards probably would've grabbed that bird and perp walked it to the exit through the crowd, while encouraging people to pluck it's feathers on the way out.

Why is everyone freaking out over this? If you've ever been near Bernie Sanders, you know he reeks of birdseed.

Then again maybe the bird was just tired and needed a place to rest.
Although I'll leave it to the magical thinkers on the left to imbue this with some sort of juvenile symbolism.
"Look a bird!!!!"
"It a sign from Gia!!"
"Bernie is the annoited one!!"
"Gimme free shit."

I agree.
Birds feed on seeds and grain found in horse shit.
Bernie is a bountiful source.

Trump got attacked by an Eagle and a little bird got chummy with Bernie. Seems like the birds are on to something.

Ted Cruz had an affair with Tippi Hedren!

Your \Master ayon kay ...

on bernie's next act... he needs to swim with some deadly half starved great white sharks.
If he survives then he might be considered for the nomination over hillary.... But if he is eaten whole ...it will be no loss to the country or the citizen's.

....oh btw... did you hear that Ted Cruz had an affair with 5 different women while he was married to his wife. that might change ppl's support for him quite dramatically... best thing about this... it didn't come from Trump... actually, the Rubio campaign is largely responsible for such as they were investigating it a while back/along with the GOP (who wanted rubio as the nominee before he dropped out)

Franklin ayon kay ...

It certainly seems like you could have titled this post: "Why I decided not to vote for Trump and instead decided to support Bernie. Birds clearly like him and animals have a keen sense of which people are natural leaders and would make good presidents."

I feel like your recent posts imply that Trump has finally done enough to turn you off, and you don't like the way Cruz looks, so you can't vote for him, and Hillary is a criminal, so the only reasonable choice anymore is Bernie!

walter ayon kay ...

"...oh..btw.." there's a thread here on that already..

William ayon kay ...

I have seen some pictures where Bernie looks startled and taken aback by the bird. Not Tippi Hedren terrified, but definitely a little scared. Then there are other photos where he look benign, like St. Francis making a new friend. Guess which photo you are most likely to encounter.

The early bird gets the worm; the early Bern forces it to give half the worm to the late bird. After that, the early bird never even bothers showing up.

The bird that landed on Sanders' podium was a house sparrow. It is not native to America and considered an invasive species. They are aggressive fighters and will evict ANY nesting bird from a cavity to take over the site. House sparrows will tear up nests, break eggs, kill and toss out nestlings and adults and then build their nest right on top of the carnage. From tulsaaudubon.org.

This probably explains the affinity of Sanders to the bird.

Mary Beth ayon kay ...

The bird that landed on Sanders' podium was a house sparrow.

The Audubon Society of Portland conservation director Bob Sallinger said it was a house finch.

Big Mike ayon kay ...

@Mary Beth, Bob Sallinger needs to go back and reread Field Guide to the Birds of North America. House finches have a lot of red on them (a little less rosy than the purple finch). With the yellow that I see in the clip that could be a female goldfinch, or a male goldfinch that's changing to summer plumage. But a house finch. No way.

eddie willers ayon kay ...

Sometimes you just have to leave that pun on the table.

I tried 10 puns to see if they'd work.
No pun in 10 did.

Mary Beth ayon kay ...

Big Mike, it looked yellowish to me too but according to The Cornell Lab of Ornithology: "The red of a male House Finch comes from pigments contained in its food during molt (birds can’t make bright red or yellow colors directly). So the more pigment in the food, the redder the male. This is why people sometimes see orange or yellowish male House Finches. Females prefer to mate with the reddest male they can find, perhaps raising the chances they get a capable mate who can do his part in feeding the nestlings."

Not a sparrow (non-native destroyer of nests), just a beta male finch.

Hindi-nagpakilala ayon kay ...

The bird is not news. The bird is a nonevent. It speaks volumes about how clownish journalism in this country has become that we're talking about the bird.

Big Mike ayon kay ...

@Mary Beth, if you're still hanging around, I've been feeding birds in my back yard since wife and I bought a fixer-upper in 1978. I've never seen a yellow house finch, and I question whether the sunflower seeds they love so much (leaving the thistle seed feeder to the goldfinches) have anything to do with their pigment.

Simplest solution: Bob Sallinger meant to say "goldfinch" but misspoke because he had the words "house sparrow" in his mind at the time.
