White Privilege again. Is this where George Wallace comes in?
I bet it's Hillary and Bernie who are arranging this whole ChiTown Charade. And the GOP Bushies along with Fox News are down with it and supporting it. The General Election has already started.
Hillary invoked the Charleston shooting when talking about last nights protest.
What does a racist shooting have to do with protests at a political rally? What is Hillary trying to say? Whatever she was trying to say, invoking Charleston was shameful.
Hillary is trying to say that non Trump supporters should turn the other cheek and forgive all the hate spewed by Trump and his followers. However to diminish what Trump has done to this country will only enable him.
DONT TEAR SOMEONES SIGN UP THAT THEY ARE HOLDING UP. its as simple as that. He may do it in a cool manner, or make it funny. But its still violating someone's space/speech and commiting an act of violence on them.
DONALD TRUMP: Oh absolutely. I think I am going to do great with the African American minority. You know if you look at minorities, the African American poll came out - I was at 25%. No republican has been above seven or eight percent. I am going to do great witht eh African Americans. I think i am going to do great with the Hispanics. I think I am going to do great with the Asians. Howie -
KURTZ: But you said absolutely. Do you mean absolutely you are going to take a little bit different approach...
TRUMP: Well maybe
KURTZ: .. as the general election nominee?
TRUMP: I don't know if I want to change so much. Look, the African Americans love me because they know I am going to bring back jobs.
KURTZ: Not all African Americans.
TRUMP: Look at what happened, as an example, with African American youth. Fifty-four percent, 58% -- they don't even know it's so high. They can't get jobs. Look at African-American people in their prime - 30s and 40s and 50s - look at their unemployment rate. They want jobs. They are going to like me better than they like Obama. The truth is Obama has done nothing for them.
KURTZ: Wait....
TRUMP: He's African American. He's done nothing for them.
KURTZ: Did you just say African Americans are going to like you better than the first African-American president?
TRUMP: I think that relatively speaking - I mean he does have a slight advantage in all fairness- but I think relatively speaking when I am finished I think they will absolutely love Donald Trump.
Maybee, No, but who knows who he may have inspired to do what Roof did. His comments are rife with bigotry and encouragement to his followers to "be strong". Code words for 'be a bully'.
But how different is this from the GOPe Rubio/Cruz supporter who cut the Sanders sign in half and left the note trumpeting the virtues of the FREE! MARKET! ?
"I took half your sign because you had one and I had none. I think you understand."
And boy did the GOPe Smart set laugh and laugh and RT about this theft/destruction of private property.
No, but who knows who he may have inspired to do what Roof did. His comments are rife with bigotry and encouragement to his followers to "be strong". Code words for 'be a bully'.
I know you don't really think anything Trump has said would encourage someone to murder. Why even pretend you do? It won't get you any political gain.
I'm surprised that the Trump crowd wouldn't appreciate the showmanship behind that maneuver.
~ Sure, it broke most of the conventions of polite debate. That shouldn't bother the Trump crowd. Who needs politeness or political correctness?
~ It was great theater. That should always impress the Trump crowd.
~ It had a brilliant, viral impact on Twitter. We know that Twitter is squarely in the Trump wheelhouse.
~ It offended all of the chosen enemies. Who cares? You gotta break some eggs to make an omelet. Offending all the right groups in opposition to you is what your base appreciates.
~ It had an emotional impact. Forget about whether it was any sort of misdemeanor; the important point is how it made supporters feel.
Cruz, Kasich and Rubio all agree that Trump is responsible for this. Trump needs to apologize and change!
How often do you agree with Rubio or Cruz?
They are happy to blame Trump because they want him to lose votes so they can get them. I like all three of them more than I like Trump - in fact I don't like Trump- but he isn't responsible for the left protesting. It's what they do!
What sort of half-brained advisors do Sanders, Clinton, Kasich, Rubio, and Cruz have, that they don't see this sort of crap merely adds voters to Trump's totals? Even people who disagree with Trump's policies (which seem to be different coming out of his mouth than what is posted on his web site) or who view his personality as being a long way from presidential, are ready to support Trump as our way of offering a one-fingered salute to riff-raff like Amanda and Freder.
Trump is the most angry, he embraces it and tells his followers to be angry too, they don't need much encouragement. He calls his campaign a "movement". Yes indeed, it's a movement from the bowells of bigotry and xenophobia. And who but had shittiest of people mock the disabled?
Amanda you mean like Obama calling himself a Special Olympics bowler? Or Biden telling a man in a wheel chair to stand up?
Come on. Deep in your heart you know Trump isn't dangerous except for the possibility he'd be a bad president. What is the joy in overstating your case?
"Hillary is trying to say that non Trump supporters should turn the other cheek and forgive all the hate spewed by Trump and his followers."
Oh, that's precious, considering that while these provocateurs are more aligned with Sandwrs, they'll show up in force for Hillary when she's the nominee.
What do you call someone who commits an act of violence with intent to intimidate a class or group of people? Seems to be a fit definition of "terrorist."
Drudge has reports of committing violent acts at Trump events with clear intent to intimidate persons exercising First Amendment rights to peaceably assemble and express political opinion.
Amanda- the crazies who support him? Do they seem more dangerous to you than the people who raped women at Occupy Wall Street camps? Or the people who burned down CVS in Baltimore? I'm just trying to get a feel for who you think is dangerous.
Cruz is wrong to side with the protesters in this. If Cruz wins the nomination, they will say of Cruz, "We thought Trump was bad, Cruz is worse!"
Amanda will come here and say all sorts of things like that, so will Sunsong and the rest. Hell, even if Romney were to win, or Kasich, or some other milk toast, they'd tell more stories of him being a bully in High School and say, "See!? Worse than Trump!"
This is why Trump gets away with being Trump. Because of what C.S. Lewis called the "Abolition of Man". We aren't careful with our language. Many years ago Dinesh Dzousa was having a debate with a guy who kept calling him Hitler. Finally Dinesh says, "If you keep calling me Hitler, you're going to give Hitler a good name."
Destroy language at your own peril.
Why do you think no one listens to the cry of Rape anymore? It's because rape is no longer, in the minds of Americans, an act of horrific violence committed by a stranger upon an innocent victim. It's now a leering glance at a woman walking near a man she doesn't know. How can we get outraged when we're all rapists?
The fools are tearing down our society and they don't even know it.
Don't blame Trump for being Trump. Blame yourselves. 30 years ago, a man so crude and crass could never have made it as far as he's made it. But you've made the conversation crude and crass. Trump is the outgrowth of that.
Voter uses sign to express free speech. Protestor uses violence to tear sign up.
There are only two sides on this one. Pick one.
And I have to say - its been incredibly educational watching who sides with the violent fascists on this one. When it comes time to start shooting, my conscience is clear.
So nice to see Chuck embracing the leftist dogma of principals, not principles. I guess he didn't truly hate that aspect of their mendacity, he was just waiting for the right opportunity to join in. Congratulations, Chuck!
Amanda- the crazies who support him? Do they seem more dangerous to you than the people who raped women at Occupy Wall Street camps? Or the people who burned down CVS in Baltimore? I'm just trying to get a feel for who you think is dangerous.
Amanda is just following the typical Leftist programming:
a) pretend your opponent is a monster b) justify violence because its a monster
That's what all this "Trump is Hitler" talk was setting the stage for.
Fabi said... So nice to see Chuck embracing the leftist dogma of principals, not principles. I guess he didn't truly hate that aspect of their mendacity, he was just waiting for the right opportunity to join in. Congratulations, Chuck!
I didn't have a single ideological thought, right or left, when I composed that post. All that I was thinking about were the posts of Scott Adams, Drago, eric, you and others, who were trying to rationalize "Trump."
Don't try to crawfish out of that one, Chuck. Just own it.
If you think that my contempt of the anti-Trumpers is the equivalent of rationalizing him, then your employing more leftist tactics. I've defended Trump and his supporters from the scurrilous charges of Hitlerism and brown-shirting, but again, that's not tantamount to rationalization.
I agree with you about the protest being great theater. I would not be surprised if Trump were behind them.
This is a great ploy to get people to come out and vote for Trump.
Progressives are such dupes.
I'll bet that if Amanda had been in Chicago, she (he?) would be taking part in the anti-Trump protests. She would not even realize she was improving his support. She would go home that night with a warm feeling like she actually accomplished something.
Not that her type ever accomplishes much of anything.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PB-vwLzhRI0
Now she'll probably call me out as sexist for attacking her. I only criticize her because she is a woman, right?
Trump is the most angry, he embraces it and tells his followers to be angry too, they don't need much encouragement. He calls his campaign a "movement". Yes indeed, it's a movement from the bowells of bigotry and xenophobia. And who but had shittiest of people mock the disabled?
Mandy, Honey, Babydoll,
Yesterday, I pointed out how you're bad spelling makes you seem poorly educated and hurts my eyes.. Are you intentionally trying to annoy me? Come and give daddy a big kiss!
Cruz and Rubio must be getting desperate. That's an oddly panicked chickenshit (interesting that autofill won't complete that word) move to side with the Leftist crazies on this incident. It isn't going to help them certainly.
Are you really denying that you haven't joined in the Hitler comparisons, Chuck? I hope not. I have a meeting and I'll check in later to see if you're willing to retract that. I'd hate to search through the blog just to prove you wrong, but I may have to.
Fabi said... Are you really denying that you haven't joined in the Hitler comparisons, Chuck? I hope not. I have a meeting and I'll check in later to see if you're willing to retract that. I'd hate to search through the blog just to prove you wrong, but I may have to.
John Henry, I just want to be clear; I was talking about that viral video of the sign-tearer being "theater," under the Trump Rules of Engagement. Not the protests. I will never make any sort of common cause with BLM or MoveOn.
Full Moon, I'm just trying to get your attention, daddy. I baked you another pie, chocolate cream.
See how easy it is to be nice, sweetie? Despite our differences, we have two obvious things in common. AA's blog, and insanity. Send me another kiss and a hug !
eric said... "Cruz is wrong to side with the protesters in this."
When did he do that?
I'm really disappointed that he chose to criticize Trump in the same statement, but he clearly blamed the violence on the protestors and condemned them in no uncertain terms.
Should there be riots at rallies for socialists who identify with regimes that have killed over a 100 million innocent people? Not trying to stir things up, just wondering if it's a possibility.
Is it OK to hold a revolution at a rally for an old socialist who's calling for a revolution? I'd like to know the rules 'cause I don't want to break any.
Ross Douthat's latest column is remarkable. His argument is that the Republican party would negligent if it did not deny the nomination to Trump. Good luck selling that to the punters.
"Trump needs to" people: how dare he court those LOATHSOME dumb white hicks. How DARE they show up and think they are allowed their wicked, vile entertainment. How DARE they imply that THEY are in any way Great? Or American? These are the people we MUST not respect. They must be denied platform, voice, and if possible, vote (brokered convention, deliver us from evil). These are the true fascists - those whose signs we tear up and whose rallies we violently disrupt. Anti-fa is the new fa.
The last time lefties tried to shut down an election, it blew up in their face and we got Nixon. I expect the same result this time around with one difference. It won't be just the police bringing the pain. It will be other Americans. Obama's and Soros's fingerprints are all over this.
Peeps are so upset at Trump because he's revealing that there are no more liberals left in America and haven't been for some time.
The LEFT say they are advancing liberal ends but need to use illiberal means to do this.
The RIGHT say that they are the true liberals.
Trump is saying, everyone at their heart is just out for themselves, and if we recognize this, we can actually plan better.
Trump is saying 'there are no liberals, just self-interested people hiding behind the guise of liberalism to get their own.... So let's stop wasting time and start negotiating how to get everyone some share of the pie"
And that is why people are going crazy. The Emperor (liberalism) has no clothes (or people!).
The Left is all about hate and suppressing ideas that they do not approve of these days, isn't it? Actually, the Left has always been like that. French revolutionary Terror Russian revolution Chinese communist revolution Pol Pot ...
It's like a broken record and the rubes always fall for it.
David Ragsdale wrote: Much meaner because it was in person.
But how different is this from the GOPe Rubio/Cruz supporter who cut the Sanders sign in half and left the note trumpeting the virtues of the FREE! MARKET! ?
It's bad because it was done WHILE THE GUY WAS HOLDING THE SIGN. That's pretty provocative as an action.
What can you say? The guy wants to be controversial, and never apologizes. Why should he expect that of anyone else?
He's getting off on the sense of victimhood, combined with rhetoric as belligerent as he can conjure, and it actually does start becoming more and more Nazi-like with every passing day. The guy is becoming a crash-and-burn parody of the same dictators that he obviously studied and thought he could successfully emulate here. But America just isn't like that. It simply isn't as hateful and narcissistic and celebrity whorish as The Donald wanted it to be.
It's not his fault alone, though. This is the downfall of the entire repugnant GOP, constituted for several decades, as it had been, by keeping the xenophobes in as long as they were masked by the greedy, phony aristocrats. But this arrangement is crumbling under the weight of its own uselessness and negativity.
Never apologize, GOP. You're doing everything as well as you know how to do it.
It's everyone else's fault. Like all those Mexicans who never even made it in under Obama, having been deported at faster rates than they were able to get in.
You're a smashing success. A superstar.
You are the wind beneath America's wings. A wind of methane and hydrogen sulfide.
Trump is "Nazi-like" whilst the progs, the Bernieites are the Sturmabteilung. Like the BUF, Bernie's boys shut down the rally.
Can you try retyping this in English, Nazi boy? And I'm sorry, but I don't speak enough German to know what the fuck "Sturmabteilung" even means. Is it something like "fuehrerprinzip"? You seem to know many more Nazi vocabulary and concepts than I ever will.
There's no LOL, you retard. Sanders has no shame about who he is, or about the Drumpfians who tried to kill his family off (despite not being anywhere near as successful as they wanted to).
But yes, let's push this thing. Can you arouse America into enough anti-semitism to overcome its very unfair bias against anti-Nazism? I don't know. But apparently Michael sure will try.
And why not? He gets plenty of practice trying out these things in the real world of stock charts.
The anti-semitism, you stupid shit, is most evident in the prog quarter, the quarter you occupy. So don't go all down with the Jews when it suits you because I expect there is some pro-Palestine gear in your cupboard.
Michael's ticked off about the whole Nazi turn of the Drumpf campaign because it brings up bad memories of the good old days when IBM and other successful American corporations made some pretty pennies with the Third Reich.
And he gets touchy enough when going off against corporatism! Watch how itchy he goes when Nazi tactics are activated.
It is undeniable that it is the Left that wants to silence the opposition. They've been pretty upfront about that since at least the late '80's. It's an old saw but I'll repeat it because it's never been truer. The Left wants the Right to shut up, the Right wants the Left to keep talking.
That's right, Michael. You know me so well. I'm a big Palestinian activist, or whatever.
The only Jews you even knew in the South were the ones who were quiet during the days of civil rights for fear of being lynched or worse. Because those were the only Jews allowed to exist in that wonderful part of America bearing, as it did, Saint Andrew's cross.
Bernie wants to get America out of the Middle East.
Last I heard, that would be a good thing for those of us who think the U.S. meddles too much in chasing this elusive fantasy of forcing a phony "peace" between Israel and Hamas and Israel and Hizbullah and Israel and whomever's left after you replace ISIS once again with whatever forces you put in place in Iraq in 2008.
I was with a lot of Jews in the Civil Rights days, dipshit. Also, if you had been better educated you would know that there are and have always been Jews from one end of the south to the other. Anybody other than some square head like you who lived in the south would both know Jews and be friends with them. You are the worst kind of dunce, thinly educated and pompous about it.
Would a "Jesus" school have taught me what you seem to believe - that no American businesses or persons (such as Prescott Bush or Fred C. Koch) ever did lucrative business with Das Dritte Reich?
(I used the German there because you seem to be very nostalgic for it).
Fabi said... Good one, Chuck! I'll start looking now and if I'm wrong, I'll apologize.
Idle hands are the devil's playthings. The search will build your character. As I recall, this is the absolute closest you'll get. Not any sort of "Trump is a Nazi" comment from me; but rather -- in an Althouse post about Scott Adams' Trump/Hitler column -- a lengthy quote, without much comment from me, from a Vanity Fair column in which Trump was caught lying about his own personal copy of Hitler's collected speeches. (I know, I know; I was not making it up then, and I'm not making it up now. I couldn't make this stuff up if I were a fiction writer.)
I was with a lot of Jews in the Civil Rights days, dipshit. Also, if you had been better educated you would know that there are and have always been Jews from one end of the south to the other.
Oh, that's right! Jews like Judah Benjamin, SOS of the CSA, who fled like a fucking worm to Europe after your honorable heroes Jeff Davis, etc., surrendered the cause of Saint Andrew to live in exile and infamy. But I guess a good Jew would have better understood and identified with his sympathies.
Anybody other than some square head like you who lived in the south would both know Jews and be friends with them.
You are one presumptuous idiot.
You probably also believe Jews are pretty happy to pretend to believe that your Evangelical friends who are so eager to watch them die in the apocalypse and rapture that they eagerly await are really awesome and rational allies to have.
Amanda said... Hillary is trying to say that non Trump supporters should turn the other cheek and forgive all the hate spewed by Trump and his followers. However to diminish what Trump has done to this country will only enable him.
I'm shocked to see Amanda defending the brownshirts. It's quite amusing after she's spent a week proving herself a fool by claiming trump is Hitler.
R&B, Apparantly Michael sees himself as "better educated" than every commenter here who disagrees with him. You'd think with all that education Michael could come up with a more original and snappy insult. Michael is full...of himself.
BTW, the Jews who fought for Civil Rights were usually northerners.
That's why Bernie Sanders got arrested and John Lewis gets away with this jive talk of "not knowing about him," as if that's some kind of meaningful appraisal in any sense. Other than the sense of how Mistress Hillary has all the nice tea and lemonade nicely laid out for everyone.
You write a bit like Inga. Better, but still a bit like her. You are not nearly so dense and thick but you might be headed that way. She had a stroke or something and left this blog, but I think that was associated with her drinking which clearly impacted her "thinking."
Good of you to come to the defense of R&B, however, another of the poorly educated.
Rick, the Brownshirts are Trump supporters who attack protestors to silence them. Maybe you should stop drinking now, you're getting confused as to who wears the brown shirts and who wears a schicklegruber mustache. Hint, it isn't Sanders, or those who support him.
You are right about the Jews in the movement: mainly from the North. John Lewis, a real hero, has a foggy memory when it comes to those days and who was in and who was out. Hillary was nowhere around. Bernie was and for that I have a high regard for him. Not so much for his love of Socialists but he was down with the movement.
Fabi: Look further down in that thread I linked. Professor Althouse comments on my post, with one of her own comments, at 2:06 pm. I followed that with a reply post at 4:41 pm. In which I said:
Back to my point; Ann Coulter's latest column is on this very subject and Bernie Goldberg did one as well. I've seen probably a half-dozen columns, some from Trump defenders (Coulter) and some from Trump haters (Goldberg) warning everybody to take a step back from the Hitler talk. You've certainly seen none of it from me, except to dredge up the old Vanity Fair article in which Trump really does seem to have lied about owning a copy of the book of Hitler speeches. Just one more disturbing, inexplicable Trump lies.
Thanks for being gracious enough to concede that point. But it gets us to the bigger picture here: Regardless of how excessively he promotes the advantages of Swedish socialism, Bernie still has the huge advantage of being more consistent, honest and (when it comes to policy decisions and congressional votes over the past 30 years), right, than anyone else in the race. Whatever you think of how far he takes ideas about tuition, his popularity and the respect he gets can be no more discounted than Trump's can.
Oh, my bad. I thought you had made a comment about Trump not being proud of his ancestral name. I must have been mistaken or just forgot that other people post things under your name.
Amanda said... Rick, the Brownshirts are Trump supporters who attack protestors to silence them.
Brownshirts are those who use violence and threats to disrupt others' events. I'm not surprised you don't know anything about Brownshirts, the fact that you don't know anything about modern politics is a pretty strong indicator.
One of the great things to come out of the increased attention on campus politics was the Missouri video showing left wing activists intentionally bumping and physically intimidating others while simultaneously shouting that the others were initiating the contact. The left's primary political defense is to accuse others of engaging in their own tactics.
If the races were reversed the left would be bellowing racism, there would be demands that black protesters be given a safe space and calls to stop the bullying. Funny how how the left is pro-bully in some instances.
Michael, As I've said numerous times now starting yesterday evening, I don't agree with shutting down anyone's speech. The solution to bad speech is more speech. I don't agree with anyone using violence or intimidation to shut down speech. Trump sets the tone for the violence that occurs at his rallies toward protestors. You think there'd be no pushback? What planet do you live on?
I have given money to Sanders (of course) and have no problem with his integrity (aside from that pesky love of the Nicaraguan dictator). He is wrong about the joys of Swedish socialism, a system that would put Sweden as a U.S. state in the bottom rung, barely above Mississippi. He would be harmless as President. He would not be as crooked as Obama, would adhere to the rule of law. Couldn't get much done but I consider that a positive. This getting stuff done has gotten us to where we are.
I've studied that episode and find it fascinating. We may have the ingredients for it again: an ignorant class of understandably dissatisfied youngsters, a paying class of agitators to organize and fund things, and a really pissed class of pro-Trump people who think they have inherited the "silent majority" mantle.
1968 was a long time ago, and these historical comparisons tend not to work out.
Well Rick, I'm not impressed by your "knowledge" either. Telling others they don't know history as well as you do is basically expecting them to take you at your word and your word means nothing to me. I don't tell strangers on the internet about their level of education or their knowledge on any given subject, because that would condescending and assholish.
And people compare Trump's voters to blackshirts. You literally can't make this shit up any longer. Trump is likely to be assassinated at some point if he continues to win the nomination.
If by some chance he is elected in November, I give it about a 25% probability there is a coup between that event and the inauguration. One thing the protesters don't understand, though, is this- their protests strengthen Trump's chances.
I am not sure what astounds me more - the fact that you've given money to Bernie or the fact that you qualify that by saying "of course."
As for Nicaragua, it seems all other politicians seem to get a pass for making actual errors of judgment. So his silly praise or backhanded defense of some Latin American thug notwithstanding, it's hard to see how that's as bad as making an actual mistake in voting or policy based on one's closeness to Ahmed Chalabi, for instance. Or Putin. Or the House of Saud, etc., etc., etc. Or China.
Your metrics on Sweden and Mississippi rely too much on per capita GDP and not enough on the fact that averages are less important than how extremely low things are allowed to get in the latter but not the former. Having more billionaires in America doesn't make our poverty somehow better than Sweden's. It makes it worse, esp. if average GDP is allowed to have a final say over and above what goes on at the bottom rung.
The rest of what you wrote we can bridge the differences on, I'm sure.
@Chuck: There are plenty of oblique references and the like, but it's not too bad in what I've seen so far. In searching I was quite surprised at how many related articles were returned, not to mention the related comments, so I'm happy to concede.
Amanda said... Well Rick, I'm not impressed by your "knowledge" either.
I don't care what you're impressed with, your ignorance speaks for itself. But I'm quite amused by someone who admits she's trolling whining about others being "assholish". I'm amazed you think of this an an insult since it's your personal oeurve
Bob, I doubt there is much funding, but there is no doubt the political identities of the protesters- they are too the left of MoveOn. I am guessing they are an amalgam of Clinton and Sanders supporters, with a bias towards the latter. As he already seems to be willing to risk getting shot, I am guessing Trump can't believe his good fortune at the public face of his new enemies.
Shit, R&B, are you bipolar? One minute you're raving about Preston Bush and the next you're making sense. A little consistency would do a lot to further your arguments.
I give a little money to all of the candidates. Well, not all. None to Trump, none to Huckabee. Tiny tiny bit to Hillary!
But I would have no problem with either Trump or Sanders as president. Neither one needs or gives a shit about the money. Both have the best intentions. Neither is in thrall to the lobbyists. Neither is as crazy as they appear at this juncture. Trump would do more to clear out the very dense underbrush of the government, make it run smoother. Not sure Sanders would focus on that. Neither guy would get us into another conflict although I think Trump would scare the shit out of those who could do us harm and make them less likely to fuck with us. Not sure Sanders can pull that off.
What caused the protests at Trump’s rally is a candidate that has promoted hatred and division against Latinos, Muslims, women, and people with disabilities, and his birther attacks against the legitimacy of President Obama. What caused the violence at Trump’s rally is a campaign whose words and actions have encouraged it on the part of his supporters." - Bernie Sanders
OK, I was deluded into thinking he was a harmless nebbish, maybe even a bit of a menshc, but it looks like he is just another authoritarian wannabee.
The hostile takeover of both parties continues. Now all he has to do is live long enough to see it through. And He hasn't even started the real campaign or rolled out his heavy weapons. If I was advising Ms.C. I'd tell her to quit now bank and the donations, so she can afford a better mattress in her cell, and leave it to Mr. S. to take the fall and the blame. Same happened with Andrew Jackson, another traitor to his class. Took decades and a civil war for the new parties to do more than hide in a corner.
I do wonder what the Secret Service knows. They are hitting the code red button a lot. If I were a protester or a childhood friend I'd be really really careful to not look or act like Squeaky Fromme or her friends in the Mexican Mafia, La Eme, or even a rabit Cruz supporter.
The Secret Service has a get out of jail free card if they shoot first and ask questions later. Then again, so does Mr. O and his drones. For that matter so does your pTb. No jury would convict if he defended himself after all he's been through
Sadly this has now passed out of the popcorn zone. People are going to get hurt, and more than the victims. Expect it'll be quite a while before civility returns. Those who sow the wind…. Wonder who will bring the first bats to an event to deal with those that spit, or is it spittle? What happens when you get in someone’s face and yell. Both actions carry plenty of microbes and worse. Nothing quite like a bunch of enraged geezers. Especially since most of them came of age in war, where they had to kill or be killed.
You know who was the original birther? Yeah, Hillary. You know who might be causing division with American Muslims? The woman who thought it would be a good idea to send American weapons into a civil war in Syria, and American Troops to topple the government of Libya, a country Obama now refers to as a "shit show."
Michael said, "I give a little money to all of the candidates. Well, not all. None to Trump, none to Huckabee. Tiny tiny bit to Hillary!"
Why give money to candidates? Really, why?
Tiny tiny bit...do you think she's gonna give half a crap when you get audited? for what, tiny tiny bit...like a thousand bucks? Think Hillary knows or cares? Does she have a database who says "this guy gave me a free hot dog in Oklahoma on 5/1/2016"?
No, this does not sound real. If it is real, you're spending your money badly or have too much to know what to do with it.
Fabi - Personally, I think The Curious Case of Donald Trump is a good reminder why everybody should think twice, and then again, and then consult an editor, and then maybe ask a Holocaust survivor, before making any bland "Hitler" comparisons.
Because Donald Trump has done a laughably good job of inviting them.
That Vanity Fair article that I quoted is nothing short of astonishing. If you believe Ivanka Trump (at the time, Trump's first and only wife), and one of Trump's closest friends (who gave him the book) and a nationally-respected reporter, Trump regularly consulted the book of collected Hitler speeches.
I picked up a copy of Mein Kampf when I was a teenager to look at once, and it was really terrible, dense, almost unreadable dreck. I have never seen the book of Hitler speeches that Trump owned, but I have heard that the Hitler speeches were as brilliant and as compelling (although hearing them was a hell of a lot better than reading them) as "Mein Kampf" was terrible.
Have a look at the Vanity Fair story (about the Ivanka-Donald divorce) here:
Seriously, the things they would get right seem to trump (pun intended) whatever they would disagree on.
I have no problem with with "trimming" government and welcome it as easily as Al Gore claimed that he would and did. It just distracts me when I see it becoming so much of a talking point that any concrete proposals go away or become so strange as to stump Rick Perry's memory. I think when things become immortalized as talking points it's almost like they cease to have any practical potency. If we are going to bring ghosts back to the land of the living we should do it right. I do suppose that what Trump has going for him in that regard is that it would be impossible for his administration not to value pragmatic results whereas I sometimes think other establishment Republicans want to talk the talk but never do anything constructive in order to keep the whole size of government thing alive as a political football to run the never-ending campaign on.
Tim, I disagree that Bernie is advocating for his supporters to commit violence and shut down speech. He explained why Chicago happened, he didn't say it was a good thing.
Chuck, the only reason anybody reads your stuff is to laugh at it. Tell us again how you are a "life long Republican" who gets his news from the Colbert Report. Don't tell me, you thought he was a genuine conservative, right? Tell us again how you would be "astonished" to discover that Palin had to defend herself from an avalanche of frivolous ethics complaints with her own money. We all could use a good laugh. I don't know what you think you are accomplishing, but you would be better off to shed the persona you don't have the chops to carry off.
Trump is delusional, or he thinks people are incredibly stupid. Maybe both.
And maybe neither. Trump is either narcissistic or solipsistic and neither condition will let him acknowledge or even understand that people surrounding him are capable of rational thought. His enablers, close family, associates and employees walk a careful line to stay away from his wrath. Political opponents and honest media people cannot avoid his temper. Voters including unconscious enablers in the T-Rump Hive need to understand the horror that awaits us in a Trump presidency.
Bernie is wrong to blame Trump for this. He is taking the low road. You can never blame violence on the people who supposedly make violent people "angry". It's totally wrong and loses him credibility in my book.
Seven solid years of Obama's divisive talk, his we-and- them, his proud representation of only half of the American people, has very much to do with what is going down now and what will go down in the next little while.
Sanders is making a huge mistake in egging on his supporters or giving them cover to disrupt Trump. It won't win him the nomination. It could very well be the thing that tanks him. Not a peep from Hillary on the topic. She is keeping quiet watching Sanders step in the bucket of shit his supporters placed there for him in Chicago. Disappointing. He need not have stepped in it and now it is stuck on his shoe. He now hobbles around with a bucket of shit on one foot.
Yesterday Cruz put one on his foot as well. Mr. Constitution sides with the anti-free speech crowd. Adios, Teddy.
gadfly, are you a solipsist? Do you imagine that you can see into the minds of those people you seem to barely understand? Or maybe your post was intended to be ironic.
Hillary's rationalizing the violence too, apparently.
Very unpresidential.
It's one thing if Trump were in power and subverting the law. It's true that he makes comments that give people pause on whether to believe if he would take the law and our rights seriously. But that's not the same. There is no justification, rhetorical or otherwise, for mob rule YET.
You know what "blaming" is Amanada? It's when you explain why something happened by saying it was somebody else's fault. Bernie is supposed to be a leader, he has an obligation to calm things down. As it is, I am sure we are going to see violence at the Republican convention, and from here on out, I blame Bernie, and by "blame," I mean I am explaining why it will happen.
Sanders is making a huge mistake in egging on his supporters or giving them cover to disrupt Trump. It won't win him the nomination. It could very well be the thing that tanks him.
True. He's making the same mistakes of the left after they were abandoned by the loss of RFK.
Possibly he thinks that this election's so crazy that it will be drowned out in the overall din of noise surrounding it. But I doubt it. It's possible he is showing those true colors of painting too rosy a brush on violent rebellions abroad. It's one thing to advocate abstention as not in our interests. It's another thing to glorify violent overthrow, etc.
"Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton told about supporters in St. Louis Saturday that GOP candidate Donald Trump is playing with fire by stoking anger and resentment among his backers, and she called on them to make this year's election a referendum to reject that approach.
"The ugly divisive rhetoric we are hearing from Donald Trump is wrong, and it is dangerous," Clinton told about 100 supporters at the O'Fallon Park recreational facility in St. Louis, prior to a much larger rally she would lead later in the day. "If you play with matches, you are going to start a fire you can't control." She said the billionaire candidate is guilty of "political arson.""
This is too disturbing, and I am sorry to have to abandon support for Bernie. It was nice to be able to agree with many of my friends on politics for a short while, anyway.
Amanda. She is just fanning the flames. You can't read this stuff literally! This is not a Dick and Jane reader! Where did you go to school? I hope you don't have a lot of loans, and I hope your parents didn't waste some huge sum of money on your education.
The response to last night by the candidates is deeply dispiriting. I am frankly shocked and I am an investment banker and not easily shocked. Not one shred of leadership. Not an atom.
The Left has created a serious problem. #BLM disavows democracy. One man-one-vote doesn't do you much good if you consider yourself a minority oppressed by the majority. The Right, when it argues against majority rule, relies on the constitution or natural rights. #BLM can only argue from race, as you can tell from what it calls itself.
And when Trump makes excuses for his rally goers violence toward protestors, is Trump held to those same standards? Or are you folks now focused on the smoke in the kitchen, when the rest of the house is on fire ( I loved Hillary's descriptor of "political arson").
I will repeat. Every candidate is irreparably damaged in my opinion. There is absolutely no excuse for these positions from people who claim to want to lead. None.
That's not the point. If Trump's standards are low enough to lack any interest in what he provokes in his supporters, then there is no point to his opponents emulating that lack of self-control or concern in their own supporters. Unless they think they'll win on "out-Trumping" him. Which they won't. No one ever does.
Either live by and endorse a more decent standard or concede to Trump.
"If Trump's standards are low enough to lack any interest in what he provokes in his supporters" The people who initiated the disturbance were anti-Trump. They supported Hillary or Sanders.
The willingness of Trump's opponents to blame their supporters' violence on Trump just smacks of the same old sense of control that led to the overthrow of the establishment in the first place.
"If Trump's standards are low enough to lack any interest in what he provokes in his supporters" The people who initiated the disturbance were anti-Trump. They supported Hillary or Sanders.

Conservatives need to realize that this is a Progressive thing. Tie it to them. Hang them with it.
Well, that actually is funny.
White Privilege again. Is this where George Wallace comes in?
I bet it's Hillary and Bernie who are arranging this whole ChiTown Charade. And the GOP Bushies along with Fox News are down with it and supporting it. The General Election has already started.
Nailah Simpson
Look how he calms ripped the sign though!!
Can someone translate from Tardspeak ?
Conservatives need to realize that this is a Progressive thing. Tie it to them. Hang them with it.
The conservatives are too busy blaming Trump for the agitators
I think it is most probably SEIU who is behind this.
That was despicable, the guy tearing into that person's sign. That people are laughing at this shows the cesspool that twitter is.
Trump needs to take responsibility for his impact. It's what adults do:
escalating agression marks Trump's rhetoric
Ed Rollins is making a lot of sense.
Sanders supporter. Half of what's yours is mine.
Sunsong- what do you think of Bernie calling for a revolution?
Hillary invoked the Charleston shooting when talking about last nights protest.
What does a racist shooting have to do with protests at a political rally? What is Hillary trying to say?
Whatever she was trying to say, invoking Charleston was shameful.
I'm with SunSong. These Trump quotes show him go be unfit to be President.
Get in your neighbors faces.
Punch back twice as hard.
Punish your enemies.
Bring a gun to a knife fight.
I don't want to lessen the anger.
Right?
Hillary is trying to say that non Trump supporters should turn the other cheek and forgive all the hate spewed by Trump and his followers. However to diminish what Trump has done to this country will only enable him.
By and large, members of the left should be regarded as potential mass murdering scumbags. This incident, and the response, shows why.
Anarchist groups gathered guns and buckets of urine ahead of 2008 Republican convention.
Amanda- do you think Trump has done anything similar to what Dylan Roof did?
DONT TEAR SOMEONES SIGN UP THAT THEY ARE HOLDING UP. its as simple as that. He may do it in a cool manner, or make it funny. But its still violating someone's space/speech and commiting an act of violence on them.
Cruz, Kasich and Rubio all agree that Trump is responsible for this. Trump needs to apologize and change!
Lulz.
Maybee,
No, but who knows who he may have inspired to do what Roof did. His comments are rife with bigotry and encouragement to his followers to "be strong". Code words for 'be a bully'.
Much meaner because it was in person.
But how different is this from the GOPe Rubio/Cruz supporter who cut the Sanders
sign in half and left the note trumpeting the virtues of the FREE! MARKET! ?
"I took half your sign because you had one and I had none. I think you understand."
And boy did the GOPe Smart set laugh and laugh and RT about this theft/destruction of private property.
Chuck,
Trump is delusional, or he thinks people are incredibly stupid. Maybe both.
Has the angry old man called for his revolution yet, today?
@Big Mike, yeah, who is advising these people, right? If it is Trump today, it will be them tomorrow. As simple as that.
OMG,
Amanda is delusional, just like the cry bullies at major universities,
Do you guys all read from the Alinsky playbook? You are dangerous to freedom of speech and intellectual inquiry.
GO AWAY! Play with the other crazies.
I am FAR from a Trump supporter, but I will vote for him, if necessary, because Hillary will bring the Amandas in the world into power.
Trump is the most angry, he embraces it and tells his followers to be angry too, they don't need much encouragement. He calls his campaign a "movement". Yes indeed, it's a movement from the bowells of bigotry and xenophobia. And who but had shittiest of people mock the disabled?
Francisco,
Calm down. Don't get so upset. You sound a bit unhinged.
Maybee, in my heart I suspect Trump could be very dangerous given the crazies who support him. It could happen here in this wonderful country.
Facebook page about organizing protesters
What do you call someone who commits an act of violence with intent to intimidate a class or group of people? Seems to be a fit definition of "terrorist."
Drudge has reports of committing violent acts at Trump events with clear intent to intimidate persons exercising First Amendment rights to peaceably assemble and express political opinion.
Was a Federal crime committed?
Professor?
Sorry folks,
I forgot that Amanda is just a troll.
My mistake in trying to communicate. Now I need to take a shower.
Go on about your business.
Amanda- the crazies who support him? Do they seem more dangerous to you than the people who raped women at Occupy Wall Street camps? Or the people who burned down CVS in Baltimore? I'm just trying to get a feel for who you think is dangerous.
Robbery.
I want someone to tell how Trump is a bigot? Please define the term and provide examples. Until then, STFU.
Took a look at National Review this morning. They support anything anti-Trump.
Amanda- the crazies who support him? Do they seem more dangerous to you than the people who raped women at Occupy Wall Street camps? Or the people who burned down CVS in Baltimore? I'm just trying to get a feel for who you think is dangerous.
Amanda is just following the typical Leftist programming:
a) pretend your opponent is a monster
b) justify violence because its a monster
That's what all this "Trump is Hitler" talk was setting the stage for.
"The fools are tearing down our society and they don't even know it."
I won't be so sure they don't know what they're doing.
Lets all pretend Amanda is a racist-sexist-homophobic bigot.
Amanda needs to be destroyed. In the name of tolerance.
LYNNDH:
Bigot - sanctimonious hypocrite.
There are plenty of examples leading away from the modern stereotypes.
@Fen, what do you mean "pretend"?
the angry old man Bernie and his 'revolutionaries' is picking up on twitter.

If people don't use some common sense and behave like adults, I fear someone will get seriously hurt.
Fabi where did I resort to "scurrilous charges of Hitlerism and brown-shirting"?
My specialty is with Things Trump has Said, which are completely foolish lies, or which are laughably contrary to U.S. law.
Chuck,
I agree with you about the protest being great theater.

Yesterday, I pointed out how you're bad spelling makes you seem poorly educated and hurts my eyes.. Are you intentionally trying to annoy me?

Cruz and Rubio must be getting desperate. That's an oddly panicked chickenshit (interesting that autofill won't complete that word) move to side with the Leftist crazies on this incident. It isn't going to help them certainly.
Full Moon,
I'm just trying to get your attention, daddy. I baked you another pie, chocolate cream.
Are you really denying that you haven't joined in the Hitler comparisons, Chuck? I hope not. I have a meeting and I'll check in later to see if you're willing to retract that. I'd hate to search through the blog just to prove you wrong, but I may have to.

I'll time you!
John Henry, I just want to be clear; I was talking about that viral video of the sign-tearer being "theater," under the Trump Rules of Engagement. Not the protests. I will never make any sort of common cause with BLM or MoveOn.

Send me another kiss and a hug !
"Creep" - that's a particularity apt part of Ann's headline.
Just wondering if anyone has seen Trump supporters disrupting rallies for his opponents.
eric said...
"Cruz is wrong to side with the protesters in this."
When did he do that?
I'm really disappointed that he chose to criticize Trump in the same statement, but he clearly blamed the violence on the protestors and condemned them in no uncertain terms.
Should we be disrupting rallies for women who lie to relatives killed on her watch? Asking for a friend.
Should there be riots at rallies for socialists who identify with regimes that have killed over a 100 million innocent people? Not trying to stir things up, just wondering if it's a possibility.
Why am I not to believe the whole event (tearing the Trump sign) was not staged for the news camera?
but he clearly blamed the violence on the protestors and condemned them in no uncertain terms
"In this day and age, we should all be above raping women", Cruz said. "But she brought it on herself by wearing such a sexy dress"
Is it OK to hold a revolution at a rally for an old socialist who's calling for a revolution? I'd like to know the rules 'cause I don't want to break any.
Did you like my pie Full Moon? You still have a little bit of brown on your upper lip.
Fen-
Yep.
That's exactly why I'm disappointed.
But as disgusting as that comment would be, it wouldn't be fair to call it siding with the rapist or coming out in favor of rape.
Ross Douthat's latest column is remarkable. His argument is that the Republican party would negligent if it did not deny the nomination to Trump. Good luck selling that to the punters.
I preferred Cruz to Trump from an ideological point of view ... until today.
Amanda, are you still selling shit? Say classy girl.
“Daylight Savings time moves us an hour forward this weekend. Meanwhile, Trump rallies are moving us 50 years backwards!”

The Left is all about hate and suppressing ideas that they do not approve of these days, isn't it? Actually, the Left has always been like that.

It's bad because it was done WHILE THE GUY WAS HOLDING THE SIGN. That's pretty provocative as an action.
@sunsong .... worst appeal to authority ever!
Bye-bye, GOP.
This couldn't have happened to a nicer political party.
When the GOP is done, will they be available for hire at weddings, confirmations, bar mitzvahs, children's magic shows?
Good one, Chuck! I'll start looking now and if I'm wrong, I'll apologize.
That's what all this "Trump is Hitler" talk was setting the stage for.
A. First of all, it's not "Trump", but "Drumpf" (no need for him to be ashamed of his heritage, is there?)
B. Second, his ex-wife told Vanity Fair that he kept a book of Hitler's speeches on his nightstand.
When asked about the book, he said, "Who told you that!"
But apparently didn't deny it.

This will be a long hot summer, and we will be lucky if no one is killed.
I expect riots in Cleveland. Trump's "impact"is telling the truth. He cannot be forgiven for that.
It's always classy to get creepy and initiate harassing comments at other other commenters, FullMoon.
Who would have thought that the ever-so-smart progs would turn out to be yobs, confused and thinly educated yobs.
Not surprising given the state of our public schools.
Michael liked the Nazis because they were good for private industry.

The English fascists were keen on showing up at their opponents rallies and shutting them down, MoveOn style. You can read about them in English.
R&B
IBM? Hilarious. Jesus but you have not a clue. Public schools, eh?
Bernie wants to get America out of the Middle East.
Last I heard, that would be a good thing for those of us who think the U.S. meddles too much in chasing this elusive fantasy of forcing a phony "peace" between Israel and Hamas and Israel and Hizbullah and Israel and whomever's left after you replace ISIS once again with whatever forces you put in place in Iraq in 2008.
R&B

Only three so far, Chuck -- looking good!
R&B
You are so stupid as to think that a private school is a "Jesus" school? You live like in northern Appalachia, dude, and it shows.
What was Bernie's last name before they changed it, by the way?
Amanda said...
Hillary is trying to say that non Trump supporters should turn the other cheek and forgive all the hate spewed by Trump and his followers. However to diminish what Trump has done to this country will only enable him.
I'm shocked to see Amanda defending the brownshirts. It's quite amusing after she's spent a week proving herself a fool by claiming trump is Hitler.
R&B,
Apparantly Michael sees himself as "better educated" than every commenter here who disagrees with him.
Amanda,
When I imagine Michael's formative years, upbringing and education, I think of a little boy in a bordello amusing himself with stock charts.
Amanda
You write a bit like Inga. Better, but still a bit like her. You are not nearly so dense and thick but you might be headed that way. She had a stroke or something and left this blog, but I think that was associated with her drinking which clearly impacted her "thinking."
Good of you to come to the defense of R&B, however, another of the poorly educated.
sunsong said...
Trump needs to take responsibility for his impact. It's what adults do:
Blaming the victim, it's what they do.
Rick, the Brownshirts are Trump supporters who attack protestors to silence them. Maybe you should stop drinking now, you're getting confused as to who wears the brown shirts and who wears a schicklegruber mustache. Hint, it isn't Sanders, or those who support him.
R&B
You are right about the Jews in the movement: mainly from the North. John Lewis, a real hero, has a foggy memory when it comes to those days and who was in and who was out. Hillary was nowhere around. Bernie was and for that I have a high regard for him. Not so much for his love of Socialists but he was down with the movement.

It's not the writing, it's the dominionist paranoia and related absurdity.
Amanda
The Sanders people were crowing about their brownshirt tactic last night. Give them credit, lady. Christ. They shut down a rally.
R&B
Michael,
As I've said numerous times now starting yesterday evening, I don't agree with shutting down anyone's speech. The solution to bad speech is more speech. I don't agree with anyone using violence or intimidation to shut down speech. Trump sets the tone for the violence that occurs at his rallies toward protestors. You think there'd be no pushback? What planet do you live on?
R&B
I have given money to Sanders (of course) and have no problem with his integrity (aside from that pesky love of the Nicaraguan dictator). He is wrong about the joys of Swedish socialism, a system that would put Sweden as a U.S. state in the bottom rung, barely above Mississippi. He would be harmless as President. He would not be as crooked as Obama, would adhere to the rule of law. Couldn't get much done but I consider that a positive. This getting stuff done has gotten us to where we are.
Amanda
Stand by for push back.
Are we headed for Chicago 1968?
I've studied that episode and find it fascinating. We may have the ingredients for it again: an ignorant class of understandably dissatisfied youngsters, a paying class of agitators to organize and fund things, and a really pissed class of pro-Trump people who think they have inherited the "silent majority" mantle.
1968 was a long time ago, and these historical comparisons tend not to work out.
What's going to happen in summer 2016?
Yancey Ward, I agree that these protest strengthen Trump, which makes me further want to ask: who's funding them, and why?
Michael:
I apologize, Chuck.
R&B
Both candidates have Jews in their families.
Ah, it's nice to see someone concede a point when they're wrong! ( @5:55)
So basically Sanders is blaming Trump
What caused the protests at Trump’s rally is a candidate that has promoted hatred and division against Latinos, Muslims, women, and people with disabilities, and his birther attacks against the legitimacy of President Obama. What caused the violence at Trump’s rally is a campaign whose words and actions have encouraged it on the part of his supporters." - Bernie Sanders
OK, I was deluded into thinking he was a harmless nebbish, maybe even a bit of a menshc, but it looks like he is just another authoritarian wannabee.
And I don't mean Trump, I mean the man justifying attacks on his political opponents rallies.
Bernie isn't calling off his dogs, he's whipping them up.
And how is Bernie wrong? He is completely correct, Tim.
And how is Bernie wrong? He is completely correct, Tim
Amanda, you are being incited to hatred, and you know what? You like it. I was going to vote for Bernie over Trump up until today.
Have a look at the Vanity Fair story (about the Ivanka-Donald divorce) here:
http://www.vanityfair.com/magazine/2015/07/donald-ivana-trump-divorce-prenup-marie-brenner
Lol. A Trump-Sanders ticket, then.
Bernie doesn't see it as his obligation to calm his supporters and lead them away from political violence.
Tim,
I disagree that Bernie is advocating for his supporters to commit violence and shut down speech. He explained why Chicago happened, he didn't say it was a good thing.
Bernie is the philosophical opposite of Trump. There will be no meeting of the minds between those two.
@Amanda said...
Bernie is the philosophical opposite of Trump.
I agree, Bernie is far more of a fascist, and that is saying something. Bernie's the one cheering on violence from his supporters.
You can never blame violence on the people who supposedly make violent people "angry". It's totally wrong and loses him credibility in my book. - R&B
Thank you. I am sort of surprised to see Amanda embrace the "She had it coming" excuse.
Well, then let's all vote for Hillary. After all, she says we need to love one another.
I am not happy about this at all.
Bob Ellison
I consider it my patriotic duty to give a little money to candidates, to egg them on as it were.
I have enough to do so.
Well, then let's all vote for Hillary. After all, she says we need to love one another.
See R&B's comment.
Hillary actually made a few statements regarding the incident Michael. Here's one of them.
http://www.stltoday.com/news/local/hillary-clinton-in-st-louis-speech-accuses-trump-of-political/article_3c48e6c0-5766-50bf-87b6-c99c66443e7c.html
I agree Michael, every single one of them has been a disappointment.
But Hillary and Bernie aren't alone. Even John Kasich is directing blame back at Trump.
Amanda
Thank you for the Hillary quotes. Point made. She is less presidential today than she was yesterday.
And when Trump makes excuses for his rally goers violence toward protestors, is Trump held to those same standards? Or are you folks now focused on the smoke in the kitchen, when the rest of the house is on fire ( I loved Hillary's descriptor of "political arson").
I can see establishment Republicans being dispirited enough to blame Trump for this. But for the Democrats to pile on or initiate it is appalling.
That's why I said "all of 'em" R&B. I hope tomorrow some people come to their senses, but this is the crew we have, and they are all deeply flawed.
I will repeat. Every candidate is irreparably damaged in my opinion. There is absolutely no excuse for these positions from people who claim to want to lead. None.
What a piece of shit Hillary is. Still blaming the victim after all these years.
"Clinton told about 100 supporters..."
Nice turnout!
Amanda, maybe in a few years you will be able to step back and see that you are getting sucked into a vortex of violent thought.
Every candidate, Cruz, Rubio, Kasich, Sanders and Clinton, all have placed the blame on Trump for creating this atmosphere.
Michael said, "I consider it my patriotic duty to give a little money to candidates, to egg them on as it were."
Why?
"If Trump's standards are low enough to lack any interest in what he provokes in his supporters"
The people who initiated the disturbance were anti-Trump. They supported Hillary or Sanders.
Well, it is comforting to know that all of the candidates, from both parties, agree with Amanda.
We are so fucked.
The willingness of Trump's opponents to blame their supporters' violence on Trump just smacks of the same old sense of control that led to the overthrow of the establishment in the first place.
I don't agree that is what Sanders did.
Bob Ellison
Because I do. Why do you give a shit what I do?
"If Trump's standards are low enough to lack any interest in what he provokes in his supporters"
