"I will never wear black again."

Said TCU coach Gary Patterson, who, desperate, got out of his all-black clothes at half time and put on a purple shirt, quoted in "In stunning collapse, Oregon Ducks lose Alamo Bowl after allowing TCU a 31-point comeback."

(I'm just trying to get to the real bad news from Oregon — the Occupy Oregon/Cliven Bundy thing — but this distracted me.)

If O's QB is not injured, TCU loses 60 to 0. It was not the black. Everything gets blamed on the black.

How does a quarterback keep the other team's offense from scoring? (Just a simple football neophyte's question.)

Losing Trevone for the game did not stop Kohlhausen from playing the entire game to win one for his Dad who died last month as suggested to him at halftime by Coach Patterson while down 31-0.

One miracle fourth down play after another did win it And Kohlhausen dedicated the win to his teammate Trevone Boykin. You see, in Fort worth a Bar Fights arenot seen as such bad things, any more than Ranching.

The color analyst Mack Brown, the former winning Texas Coach whom being TCU's victim had gotten him fired, did a perfect job complementing the young players rather than one upping them to show off.

The Eyes of Texas were upon TCU last night and their Texas playeres came through and made us proud.

I'm picturing a Dewey Defeats Truman type headline with traditionalguy's big grinning face photoshopped in.

Slightly off topic, but Big10 related.

So I am reading the comments after Penn State's comeback falls short against Georgia yesterday.

The PSU poster writes: "A loss that felt like a victory". To which a commenter responds: "When we start celebrating close losses we become Indiana".

Oregon's basketball coach is Dana Altman. Dana came from Creighton. That would never happen in basketball.

TCU was nowhere until the O's QB went out. It changed the whole game. It wasn't a coincidence.

I didn't watch the game, but if Oregon's offense scored on nearly every drive before the QB injury, then TCU's offense would be starting every drive 75 yards or so away from their Oregon's end zone. If, after the injury, TCU was starting more often 50 or fewer yards away, then one would expect TCU's offense to have much more trouble scoring.

That's one way a good QB can keep the opponents from scoring. Another, simpler way is simple time of possession.

Meade,

Shouldn't that be "Huey, Dewey, and Louie Defeats Truman"

I went to bed in th4e middle of this game. Really surprised by the comeback, this morning. I change shirts at half time when my team is losing as well. Of course, in my bedroom, not the locker room. Great story.

They both lost starting quarterbacks. One of them won. the other lost. It was an amazing collapse.

The team is the thing. TCU is a great team. Who cares about a superstar or two. TCU ended playing mostly its freshmen and sophs as its star seniors had one by one gone down during the year. They still wiped out Texas 50 -7, and they came back to beat nemesis Baylor (70 miles down the road) and they only lost to final four team Oklahoma by going for two points instead of a tie at the end of the game. The only bad loss was in the first game that Trevone sat out with an injury. Kohlhausen needed some game time.

Wait until next year and Fear the Frog!

The most surprising reveal of the game is that an offensive powerhouse program like Oregon had no even moderately capable backup quarterback available.

He keeps the other team's offense off the field.

When I was about to put on my yellow shirt with the Michigan logo on New Year's for the Citrus Bowl, I remembered that I had that shirt on when Michigan imploded in the second half against Ohio State (that's right, I left out the asinine "the"). So I wore my blue sweatshirt with the M logo on it instead.

Michigan then crushed Florida.

For all you Michigan fans out there -- you're welcome.

No, not really. A running game keeps the other team's offense off the field by running time off the clock. A high-powered passing game, led by the QB, does not. If the QB is good, he will lead his team to a quick score and the other team's offense will come right back onto the field. Ball control depends on having a good running game.

Regardless of what you call them, or what shirt y ou wear, the Buckeyes kicked the livin' crap out of Michigan...again. I mean it wasn't "Wisconsin in the Big 10 Championship" bad, but it was an ass whoopin'.

You're right. And to all Michigan fans -- I'm sorry. I should never have worn that yellow shirt. It was my fault.
