If a non-Muslim couple dressed up in "assault" clothes and strapped on GoPro cameras to record their murderous rampage I don't thinik anyone would have any doubt about whether or not their actions were politically motivated.

The attack was premeditated and required a fair amount of preparation.
I'm disappointed that the SBPD apparently broadcasted everything over unencrypted public channels discussing names, licenses, tactics, etc. Also, local news broadcast witness phone numbers, etc, in their haste to report everything without discretion.
Our society doesn't seem prepared to handle things like this at all. If the terrorists weren't amateurs, it could have been much worse.

The only valid conclusion democrats and their media jump to are reflexively blaming the entire GOP and the NRA.
Interesting that the CAIR guy doesn't jump to "Gun control". He actually outlines the possibilities for these murders without that knee-jerk reaction. I lean toward the easy explanation that this is somehow influenced by radical Islam and I will remain leaning until someone proves otherwise.
This was not an act of individual craziness - as so many of these attacks are - this was a planned attack that depended on some kind of philosophical/theological underpinnings to be carried out.
CNN was debating all night about whether this was terrorism but declined to mention the shooter's name until hours after it was reported by other media.
You don't have to jump to conclusions regarding the motive here, same old same old, or to understand that CAIR is a terrorist front group. They sure must want those 15,000 Syrian Muslims to immigrate.
We all know the motive. This will put a crimp in Obama's plan to flood the country with Muslim immigrants.

I don't really know enough about the actual shooting to comment on it, however I did spend a good portion of yesterday watching the reaction of the press so I do have a question about that.
Do they not understand just how bad they look when they suddenly latch onto the same meme at the same time? Do they not understand that this just makes it obvious that they're all still coordinating their messages, or are we supposed to believe that all the "your prayers do nothing" posts occurred at the same time by coincidence.
As for the stupidity of their attacks on people offering condolences I just have to wonder who the genius was that said "You know what? We should attack people for offering prayers the next time there is a shooting, that'll win the argument."?

Is there evidence that Dear was religiously motivated? I haven't followed that case, but just looking at his photo makes it hard to believe.
Jumping to conclusions, I'll say the answer is in two parts.
The two were planning Jihad, hence the IEDs, ammo, weapons, armor, etc.
The Target was personal. e.g. workplace issues. the Christmas party, etc. That set him off.
But the overall driver was radical Islam.

Let's say my brother in law committed a crime like this. Within a few hours I get a call from Milwaukee Archbishop Listecki saying he'd like me to come to a press conference and do some hand wringing in front of the national media to protect the broader interests of Catholics.

WP: 355 mass shootings this year. Farook and Malik compared to...yes, the Oregon neo-Nazi and the Charleston white supremacist (if you had to choose just two other shootings, you know, at random). Never mind that almost every "mass shooting" is a gang related/drug related urban incident from somewhere like Chicago, and that most of the accused "mass shooters" were prohibited from possessing firearms by existing statute. What most of us consider to be mass shootings are isolated incidents, statistical anomalies, and as such, difficult to quickly pigeonhole because of their rarity and the typical mental health component. This one sure looks like radical Islam though.

Yeah, full-auto generally leads to weapon jams. You are supposed to use three round bursts, even with weapons such as M60 Machine Guns and M50s. In fact, the M16A2 does not have a full-auto setting. You have safe, single-shot, and three round bursts.

I think it was simple tribalism. The republican candidates offered prayers and the democrats jumped right to gun control, therefore payers are bad because republicans.
Main lesson here is be prepared to help yourself. Over Thanksgiving I had a conversation with my brother who just retired as a cop with counter-terror experience about Paris and decided I wasn't paranoid enough. I put together a trauma pack for the car and a small blowout kit I can carry in a pocket. Tourniquets, Israeli Bandages, airways, Gauze, pneumothorax kit (I did the Army Combat Lifesaving Course)
I have a carry permit from VA but because I work in MD for the government I am unarmed during the week. (I can't even keep one locked in the car.)

I think my favorite factoid though is that they were apparently wearing GoPro cameras. Definitely more something that a jihadist would do, as contrasted to someone engaging in "workplace violence".
I'm not convinced there was automatic weapons fire in this clip. The long burst from about :45-:53 seconds in the video sounds more like semi-auto fire to me, with time between shots to allow for each to be from individual pulls of the trigger. If there was an automatic rifle on the scene, I would consider it more likely to have been used by law enforcement rather than the terrorists.
That CAIR conference was a mistake. I like to think of CAIR as being like the old white citizens' councils back in the day.

I don't like it at all unless they can provide ACTUAL evidence of the risk. They normally cannot. A list like that is acceptable for investigative work --- not for repression of rights.
What it seems to be is a whole lot of people are sick of the "prayers and thoughts" tweets and messages from politicians and citizens alike, after every one of these mass shootings. A lot of us are pushing back against this bromide, by pointing out the obvious truth that "your prayers do nothing."

I don't understand the confusion about what caused this attack. It was, obviously, caused by so many law abiding citizens having legal firearms in their homes. With the details that are available this morning I can guess at a dual motive. These two were part of a larger cell with different plans and went off plan to attack some person or people for personal reasons and in furtherance of their religious ideology at the same time. I'll be interested to see how close this guess comes to the mark.
The acting President's motives are unmixed. His attack on the American people is, and has always been, purely ideological. I guess you could say that the personal is political and vice versa, but still he's a simpler case. He just hates the country.

These facts are worrying me. Six month old baby. He flew to SA in Spring. Wife was on K1 visa.
Either information is wrong or this points to them making a fake family to get her into the United States.

If he flew over there in the spring, how did they have a six month old baby already? K1 visa is a fiance visa that is only good for 90 days. Had she only been here 90 days but they already have six month old baby? Where was the baby born?

I'm familiar with the bumpski stock. After watching Bubba with a bumpski burn through a 45 round magazine on youtube, I'm convinced the firefight video included a volley of fully automatic. You know what? You've convinced me. Why, it is the height of absurdity to believe that this was a horrendously failed attempt to control the narrative and not simply a natural reaction.
I mean, there is no more natural an event than seeing a bunch of media folks with a history of trying to control the news cycle react in the exact same manner, with pretty much the exact same remarks, stemming from the exact same incident at the same time as each other.
Clearly this was in no way, shape, or form a pre-planned effort.

What I heard at this morning's presser was that the Police chief said that the shooters were wearing GoPro cameras, he then said when asked the question about his officers wearing cameras , "No".
