A walk on the Overlode Trail...
... in Blue Mounds, Wisconsin, a few days ago. You might think, from that photograph, how tragically dreary. But we found it quite beautiful.
Talk about whatever you want in the comments.
Consider doing any shopping you might have through The Althouse Amazon Portal.

No bikes?
Hey before people talk about whatever they want, I have had interaction and it seems there was never any bad intent, just a differing of defining abortion after a certain period of days for profit as other than evil, only a very, very few things more and even fewer things than that unmore.
Whatever they want seemed cordial, civil, and Godly as confabulation information up-to-date informs tendly.
"No bikes?"
We haven't biked that trail yet, and actually, it's too difficult for me. We did ride the Seminole Trail today though.
The "vetting" of the immigrants isn't all that hard.
When I applied for a visa a long time ago, I had to furnish an affidavit from my hometown police dept. that I was of good character with no criminal record and no known affiliation with any communist group (this gave rise to some quite uncalled for hilarity and crude jokes from the officers present, but never mind). This was Norway in peacetime, and would not work for the Middle East, but you can you ask where the refugees claim to be from, and then ask the priests, ministers, imams there, or from there, what they know about this person. And whoever else in the queue who claims to be from the same place.
And if they have spent any time in a refugee camp, you ask other people from that camp. They will generally know who is who and what and sort themselves out.
The problem is the bureaucratic mindset insisting on papers from a bureaucracy that may not even exist in those countries, and in any case are easily forged.
65 in NJ this weekend.
GW is the best !
I love the woods when the leafs are down. The landform has a deep beauty.
Kicking back with the Voice (of the 20th Century).
It's Frank Sinatra's 100th birthday.
As he use to say, "May the last voice you hear be mine."
I read, over at Legal Insurrection, a story of an eight year old girl, who was burned terribly in a fire that killed her family. It requests that people send her a Christmas card, that's her wish this year. I don't know if its ok to link to another blog, but it would be lovely if she got thousands of cards this Christmas.
Makes the rest of us count our blessings, not just at Christmas, but all year. http://legalinsurrection.com/2015/12/little-girl-who-lost-her-parents-wants-christmas-cards/#comments
The jihad problem is a serious one, but this administration refuses to admit that it is.
This makes the people frustrated and angry and ready to hit out at whatever they can find to hit within reach.
The president would serve Islam better if he could pull his head out of the clouds.
"Tragically dreary"? What, you're Flannery O'Conner now?
Hey, it is that time of the year!
You can see farther without the leaves. That can be very pretty.
I called it. Trump's poll numbers are in free fall. Lefties will soon be talking about how Trump is "provocative" and Cruz is the White Hispanic Supremacist.
I needed some crystal meth but Amazon does not have any. Do meth cookers have portals?
I ran trails in Percy Warner Park in Nashville on Friday (visiting my daughter and doing a CLE, licensed in TN and MS) and I love the downed leaves at this time of the year. That park is my favorite place to run. The main entrance is at the end of Belle Meade Blvd in Al Gore's neighborhood. Stunning place to run and hike.
My "home trail" is a trail system leased and maintained by a local mountain bike group in Ridgeland, MS. It's less than 15 minutes from my house. There are three main routes, a 3.5, 5.5, and 9.5 Red Trail. I can pretty much replicate any difficulty I want out there when preparing for ultras that I run in the southeast. This is the time of year that I love to get out there. Waiting on sunrise now.
