The plain logic of crocodile moats and, not least, the justice towards crocodiles, a notably underemployed species, shows that in Indonesia at least there is a glimmering of good sense, imagination, and social enlightenment.
San Francisco, by contrast, has had an alligator pit for nearly a century and has never used it for civic benefit.
