It's failing. Bitches.

Republicans knew it would fail all along. But Dems will find a way to say this is Republicans fault. Even with all the changes Obama made, with all the waivers, Obamacare is a clusterfuck.

From the "do you know who I am?" files:

On Leno's garage last night, riding in Ferrari with Mario Andretti driving, Mario says when cops stop him for speeding and ask "you think you're Mario Andretti?" he can answer, "yes I am".

So 16 million people are covered now, 12 million of them either Medicaid expansion(9 million, and 4 million subsidized O-care) and the other 4 million? They are the ones that we ripped our health insurance system apart to cover! Isn't that great!

Curious George said...

It's worse than you think...the move is to high deductible plans. Most of those exchange plans are bronze plans. You're not insured until you satisfy the deductible...hospitals are taking it in the shorts. Most of these emrollees have no way to pay deductibles...the fucking premiums are being subsidized. Medicaid (and Medicare) has expanded, but they have cut reimbursements so again hospitals (and docs) have taken a hit. And costs to bill government payers is very high on top of it. Next year, employer mandates. A lot of employers will be cutting people loose to go on the exchanges, and many those that don't will have to also move to high deductible plans. It's not going to be pretty.

"Back To Black"

He left no time to regret
Kept his dick wet
With his same old safe bet
Me and my head high
And my tears dry
Get on without my guy

You went back to what you knew
So far removed from all that we went through
And I tread a troubled track
My odds are stacked
I'll go back to black

We only said goodbye with words
I died a hundred times
You go back to her
And I go back to...

I go back to us

I love you much
It's not enough
You love blow and I love puff
And life is like a pipe
And I'm a tiny penny rolling up the walls inside

We only said goodbye with words
I died a hundred times
You go back to her
And I go back to...

We only said goodbye with words
I died a hundred times
You go back to her
And I go back to...

Black, black, black, black, black, black, black,
I go back to...
I go back to...

We only said goodbye with words
I died a hundred times
You go back to her
And I go back to...

We only said goodbye with words
I died a hundred times
You go back to her
And I go back to black

I'm starting a new job the Monday after Thanksgiving. I will be tasked with creating documentation that will deflect customers from calling the 800 number for information about their accounts. The IT managers who are hiring me are desperate. Fun stuff but a little depressing in a way. They money is good. Hope I have time to drive back to Minnesota to see my siblings for the holiday.

The hullabaloo about Syrian refugeees is unjustified unless we also will do something about more than 100,000 Somalis (the homeland of Al Shabaab, another word for ISIS), who knows how many from Nigeria and Western Sahara (the homeland of Boko Haram, another word for ISIS), and from all the countries in between.

Syria is actually the most nearly civilized place of the countries infected by this virus, and the refugees from there may be the most likely to assimilate in Western countries.

P. F. Sloan has passed away. This is the guy that wrote "Eve of Destruction", and some other songs. I was kind of surprised that our hostess didn't blog about it.

I also noticed that there is no way to search the Althouse blog, but that may be on purpose because it would suck bandwidth.

It just occurred to me that Bill Ayers and his Weatherman grew up in a Christian country, and so were, or are, not all that hep on leaving this vale of tears for the hereafter, but other than that they were, or are, quite similar to Mohammed Atta and his crew of highjackers of 9/11 fame.

I hadn't noticed that about PF Sloan. I remember seeing him on tv doing "Sins of the Family."

He wrote a bunch of familiar 60s songs. "You Baby" and "Secret Agent Man."

Great P.F. Sloan remembrance over at Kausfiles

Christopher said...

This John McWhorter piece, English Is Not Normal, is a bit overwritten but it might interest forensic wordsmiths like Althouse:

Then there are doublets, less dramatic than triplets but fun nevertheless, such as the English/French pairs begin and commence, or want and desire. Especially noteworthy here are the culinary transformations: we kill a cow or a pig (English) to yield beef or pork (French). Why? Well, generally in Norman England, English-speaking labourers did the slaughtering for moneyed French speakers at table. The different ways of referring to meat depended on one’s place in the scheme of things, and those class distinctions have carried down to us in discreet form today.

Hey Tom Brady haters- Did you see where the law firm Paul, Weiss which gave us the "Wells Report", and which also created bogus reports to show no connection between smoking and cancer, and which also defended and advocated for Guantanamo Bay terrorists, and who also counts as a former employee director of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson, yeah that Paul, Weiss law firm, well they threw a big fundraiser for none other than Hillary Clinton last night. Yeah, suck on that- You hate on Tom Brady and not only have the terrorists won, but Hillary wins too!

Man, I posted that Kausfiles item on P.F. Sloan before I read all of it. Fair amount of Dylan clickbait in there for Althouse. Plus an Elvis cameo.

PF Sloan deserves comment.

The failure -- in exactly the manner predicted -- of ObamaInsurance deserves nothing.

Everybody knows Obama was the better option for president.
