"As they see that robot in the hallways, that's Peyton," said the principal of Poolesville Elementary School.

"She's here, she's with us and she's going to engage in the school day, just like the rest of them."

Counterfeit people. Will they ride in self driving cars and get the best seats at ball games.

Can the human species as pollutants be far behind us, as Malthus and Darwin warned.

The poor kid will be scarred for life when the kids find out about robosexuality.

What happens when "normal" kids demand the right to attend school using these robots?

You too Coupe.

We should accept robotic learning jokes and nothing more.

I'm rather amazed that the cost is that low (if indeed it is.) The iPad alone is nearly a third of it.

I believe I saw this technology on an episode of The Big Bang Theory. Also, I don't think it is actually a robot.

Robot: a machine capable of carrying out a complex series of actions automatically, especially one programmable by a computer.

This thing is more of a full-body Waldo that provides facilitates telepresence.

That's really cool. I remember a kid who had to be gone for months at a time for leukemia treatments. This would have been great for him.

Awesome. Love it.

I, for one, welcome the screen-only inclusion of little ADHD Johnny in the class, with the ability to stop his verbal and physical outbursts with a mute button.

This technology has the ability to allow mainstreaming of physically, mentally and behaviorally challenged students with the benefit of their having zero physical presence in the school!

Adults get cancer too. And the flu. And they have to take business trips.

When you're sick or on a business trip away from the office, just send your robot there (via a self-driving car) to take your place at your desk in your office.

Who knows, your boss may like your robot better than he likes you.

sinz52,

If you (as robot) die in a firey self-driving car accident are you legally dead? Does your life insurance pay out? Do you lose your Social Security benefits, etc. Just wondering. It would be a cool short story slash twilight zone slash Kafka story if you were.

Before commenting had to check out Poolesville elementary. I had some guesses about what kind of school it was and the circumstances the kid came from but just wanted to make sure.

I apologize of course for posting this. I thought it would be better than insisting that within a couple decades we will all be using avatars like this in daily life. My robot wont fall asleep in meetings like I do. It will also be able to throw a car at you.

Robots in the hallways will become the norm before too long.

Will they let robots play sports in place of kids who aren't very athletic?

That has a great rhythm. Think "Smokin' in the Boy's Room".

I maybe must set this to music. BN, post more lyrics if you got 'em.
