Her apparent campaign strategy is certainly bewildering. I can't recall a serious presidential campaign that has done anything similar, the minimal communication and taking of questions. It's all very weird. I guess they feel she's already one and all this is just ceremonial maybe? Rush Limbaugh seems to think that anyway. I tend to believe that her keepers want to keep her from talking too much.
Old people are funny... Especially old women... More-so old women lawyers... Even more, old women non-practicing lawyers recently attracted to younger lesbian lovers...
@Coupe: ven more, old women non-practicing lawyers recently attracted to younger lesbian lovers...
Could we give the Huma sniggers a rest? She is married and has a child by her husband, so without some other definitive evidence I think we ought to consider the matter settled.
When progressives said they thought Michele Bachmann's husband was obviously closeted, I would point out the number of heterosexual copulations required to produce five children--if a gay man is doing that he deserves some kind of award.
They are going to have to implant a subroutine, as Geordi La Forge used to say, to get her head bob down to something that could pass for human. Did you see her yesterday when she deigned to answer a press question?
I can't recall a serious presidential campaign that has done anything similar, the minimal communication and taking of questions.
Mike Dukakis would only appear before vetted crowds.
After reading the article, my only question to the authoress was how was it anatomically possible to take the Clinton machine's dick that far up your ass.
What a puff piece! That wasn't journalism. That was a the re-publishing of a Clinton campaign press release.
No discussion of any of the ethical issues that cloud her horizon.
@phantommut:I have two words for Gabriel: turkey baster
I am aware that these devices exist, but now you are supposing a conspiracy.
I would remind you that in the Monica Lewinsky conspiracy only two people knew what had happened, and of those two one of them could not keep quiet about it.
Hill looks like she's going through the motions and she obviously doesn't have any fire in the belly. As though she has to go through process to get one last massive cash infusion into the Clinton Foundation before she exits the national political scene.
Maybe she knows she won't get the WH for some reason. I assume that all our enemies and many of our friends overseas, as well as NSA & CIA, have most or all of those emails, emails being easy to hack and all. I wouldn't be surprised if she has already been contacted by one or more of the above, for purposes of blackmail.
"Her apparent campaign strategy is certainly bewildering. I can't recall a serious presidential campaign that has done anything similar, the minimal communication and taking of questions."
Closest modern parallel was Nixon in '72--just acting above the fray, staying away from the press and coasting on high numbers while the Dems fought it out. Though it's easier to do this when you're already the president, and of course it pissed off the press to no end.
If the question is why would any sane person possibly vote for her, then the answer is "Why, indeed?"
Other than being a Vagino-American who rode her husband's coat tails all the way through her career, what exactly are reasons why someone should vote for her?
Coupe said: "Old people are funny... Especially old women... More-so old women lawyers... Even more, old women non-practicing lawyers recently attracted to younger lesbian lovers..."
Meade's neither younger than Althouse nor a lesbian.
Just read this piece on piece on bloomberg. If this is the best they can get for Hillary! supporters, she's toast. None of those people are going to show up to vote on November 2016.
"Though it's easier to do this when you're already the president, and of course it pissed off the press to no end."
The press will grovel for Hillary as much as they groveled for Obama.
"Hillary is certainly today's Nixon."
47% of the population wasn't dependent on hand-outs in 1972. I bet the Clintons have polling (and they can afford really good polling) that shows she wins easily in 2016. Why should she expose herself?
Participants repeatedly praised Clinton’s experience, especially on foreign policy, though none was able to name any of her accomplishments as the nation's top diplomat.
Actually only one of the young and talented GOP candidates will be taking on Hillary Clinton. One who might speak fluent Spanish and be able to help the lady with her latino pronunciations as well as assist her to the podium.
You do know that we haven't yet had the primaries?
You astound in how quickly you absorb some of the talking points but you failed, so far, to call the gaggle of GOP young candidates as being in a clown car. That is the metaphor your betters are using.
@Gabriel (1:41), I agree with you that anti-Hillaryites ought to stop the she's-a-lesbian stuff. All that will do is push a few conservative lesbians to support her (and, yes, there are conservative lesbians, and conservative gay men; I know some).
However, when you say, "I would point out the number of heterosexual copulations required to produce five children--if a gay man is doing that he deserves some kind of award", I have to point you to Bruce Jenner, who is not a gay man, but (he says) a woman, yet has fathered 4 or 5 children. Anything is possible. But this really ought not to be part of our political discourse.
Vagino-American? I had to Google this to see if it's a new term & found that it used publically in a couple of places; is EVERYTHING hyphenated now? How about Clinton-American? That's surely a better description and a lot more accurate.
You astound in how quickly you absorb some of the talking points but you failed, so far, to call the gaggle of GOP young candidates as being in a clown car. That is the metaphor your betters are using.
The sheer number of GOP candidates being fielded is hardly a talking point, but I understand that the "you are spewing talking points" is a real zinger in conservative circles.
But how will they get them all on stage for the debates? Stack them up like cord wood? Stage some sort of Jeopardy style event?
What do the Democrats have as a field so far? Sanders, a communist. Clinton, a fascist and possibly Warren, a socialist and O'Malley, governor of Baltimore.
What's scary is despite what would normally be considered a joke field of candidates and potential candidates a county that elected an Obama twice can easily elect one these jokers.
"I can't recall a serious presidential campaign that has done anything similar, the minimal communication and taking of questions"
Actually, this seems to be a re-run of Al Franken's successful re-election campaign strategy. Say nothing, answer no questions, etc. It worked for him - amazingly enough given the history of how he got into the Senate in the first place.
The plan is a variation on the old joke: A bear is charging a campsite and every one is running. the question: "Why are you putting your shoes?""I don't have to out run the bear, I only have to out run you."
Hillary's campaign strategy: She doesn't have to be a good candidate or a good president, just 50% +1 better than the GOP candidate who is assumed to be another turkey like '08 and '12.
Not only is this cynicism of the highest order, it shows the complete bankruptcy of the dem party, to have no one better than a high mileage affirmative action drone with no vision or platform than because ovaries. This will be a rerun of 2000 except Algore was a better politician, and it won't be close this time. And the GOP has some promising candidates. Walker/Rubio '16
Warren G. Harding conducted his entire presidential campaign from the front porch of his house. Perhaps the Hildebeast admires such early 20th century techniques.
And garage's talking point is even funnier when we recollect that May of 2015 is much farther from the election than January of 2004, when the Dems still had 9 candidates.
But that's progressives for you, eternal blank slates.

You can give the lesbian rumors a rest, but I insist on knowing more--much more--about the nature of the Huma/Hillary relationship. We can assume that Huma will accompany Hillary into the WH--didn't she go along with the Scooby ride?
People who voted for Obama probably had no idea that he would bring along an unelected advisor like Valerie Jarrett.
Voters have a right to know what they're getting into.

Huma's family has ties to the Muslim Brotherhood. Hillary using her personal server to conduct official business is reason enough to be declared unfit for the office.

I would guess it's somewhere between Estella-Miss Havisham and Wormtongue-Theoden, but that's probably because I don't like Hillary Clinton much.
It's really not unusual for an older person to form a strong attachment to a younger one in an inferior position, especially if there is some dependence involved.
I have no doubt that they are close, and no doubt that Hillary has at least once thrown something at her head.
There will only be one young Republican on the debate stage with the elderly rich lady. That young man will have honed his debating skills over these many months whilst the quiet old lady will have debated only her own staff.
The only bonfire will be the elderly rich lady's temper flaring.

Gabriel, you may have a point. I doubt Weiner could have provided the specimen without videoing and posting it to Imgur.

Why?
Because she needs the ego gratification. Really really needs it.
Why?
Because,... vagina!

I know and that is your problem, not mine.
I agree YoungHegelian upthread: This is a (barely) repurposed PR piece put out by the Clinton Campaign.

I like the quote from the Drake prof: "Other than the fact that she desperately wants to be president … what would Hillaryism mean to the country?"
Contemplate that.
Hillary is certainly today's Nixon.
Except Nixon was far more intelligent and accomplished.
More ethical too.
I like the GOP strategy of using 75 candidates to take Hillary down.

Hillary 2016: Counting on Voter Ignorance
Gabriel: Hear! Hear!
There are many legitimate reasons to challenge HRC, I hate when that is diluted by playing into her narrative that 'everyone is mean to me'
Clintons have polling (and they can afford really good polling) that shows she wins easily in 2016.
Would that be the same stuff that predicted that the Conservatives were going to be thrown out in the UK?
Demographic analysis means something at this point, polling means nothing.
I wonder what the Democrats do if in the summer of 2016 Hillary "falls down" again.

My kids have those. They're "fly glasses." Supposedly you see through them as a fly sees, but I have my doubts.
It is Clinton, Inc. that is running, and any Democrat thinking about becoming a candidate has to consider that.
The other thing is that by the end of Obama's term, they might be "hunting Democrats with dogs," as Phil Gramm put it.
So, perhaps sit this one out and see what it looks like in 2020?

What makes you think Hillary! will debate?
There is nothing for her in that.
The only reason we have debates is that Jack Kennedy did so well with that idea in 1960.
It can be dropped just as quickly when the prospects are otherwise.
Oh, she will debate. Poorly is my prediction.
She is easily peeved
USA Today completely paved over that every "question" she took was pre-scripted and planted with vetted "average folks".
Who can the Democrats provide for a debate?
Right now Warren looks like the most viable candidate.
Everyone else is a joke.
