#3 is for people who don't mind the mistreatment of the elephant. There is a backstory on the elephant in the water in the Andamans shot. Most of us won't do it any more.
6, 8 and 16 are excellent and I love 8 and 15.
The underwater shots are pretty mediocre as underwater shots go.
Which reminds of a a NGS photo- I think is was NGS- from a previous year, which showed a crouching lion near a giraffe. Marvelous photo. I have long wondered if the giraffe survived the encounter.

I liked 1, 8, 9, and 15. Maybe I just like bears? Number 9 reminds us of why polar bears are so dangerous. Number 5 strikes me as a cliché. Can't help it. I can see why a person with a fine arts degree would like #16, but it's a bit too abstract to me.
8 and 14
Been to #11.
Always really enjoy this contest, as it focuses on a perfect shot.
3 or 11. I must like water.
14 makes me dizzy just to look.
As travel photos go, #2 is Number 1.
#10 has been taken a million times.

there are a zillion commercial versions of 5.
there is a sunset in SF every day and a fog bank every other day.
I love the shot. I'm from near there, but it is not unique...

I spent more time looking at the Saudi-Yemeni war. Just a preview of our future in Obamaworld.

The Milky Way above Yosemite - 15. Just makes you feel puny.
I thought these pictures would take me away from the world of politics and politicians. But no, there was #4.

Not for long. Those fuckers are doomed. DOOMED!
#15. Hands down.
3, 5, and 15. As to the elephant issue, men died building the Panama Canal. That doesn't detract from the amazing feat of engineering.
Also 7 and 14
@Curious George, if you got out in Alaska during white-out conditions, it won't be the polar bear that's doomed.
My favorites are 6, 7, 10, and 16.
They suck. 15 is obviously the best.
