"If you want to survive, come out! If you want to die, stay inside!"

"I knew those guys were lying," said Elosy Karimi, 23, one of the survivors, who stayed inside — inside the ceiling — for more than a day.

When are we going to start taking this seriously?

Remaining unarmed in the face of such danger seems like an act of faith in the humanity of people who don't seem to have much. Some boogeymen are real.

IMHO this story should be on the front pages, and by and large it is not. It's a dress rehearsal, and they are looking to take the show on the road.

"Immediately, Christian students began pouring inside seeking refuge, and their Muslim classmates hid them, he said. Many of the students later crawled out in single file, dashing for the university’s gate, he said."

In large parts of Africa and East Asia, Christians and Muslims get along quite normally together. The radicals want to change this.

Black Muslims killing Black Christians.

Non-Story.

After that Germanwings tragedy,I would recommend that all pilots whistle a happy tune and make a conscious effort to look cheerful when walking through passenger areas of the terminal......It's not that difficult to sow seeds of distrust and paranoia after a mass murder. The Christians in Kenya will look upon the Muslims there in a different way now.

"Militants" killed, "Muslim men" showed solidarity with the victims.

Whistling is a sign you're a terrorist - to the TSA anyway.

This is a terrible event anywhere, but especially in Kenya. Everybody is dirt poor and the young have little chance...unless the get Education.

Education means status.
Education means a Government career.
Education means everything in Kenya.

This happened to a Teachers'College at the heart of the Kenyan's Education Dream.

These students were at the top half of one percent in brains and in determination to succeed, many having come on bare feet hundreds of miles from their tribal villages they left to take entrance test to see if they had a future.

Everybody in the world needs to quit lying about Jihadists being a crime and fight this Religious War to the death.

There will be no real battle against these evil creatures until we get some serious people at the helm. For that, we will have to wait until January of 2017 at the soonest.

God forbid, longer.

BarrySanders20 म्हणाले...

At least they don't have to worry about suffering from microaggressions.

These students now must try to determine what they did to provoke this act.

Somali Muslims commit act of terror, and New York Times readers respond by condemning: 1) America 2) Christians 3) Religion 4) Bush... For NYT readers, there is an answer for everything, and it's always the same answer, no matter the question.

Michael Fitzgerald,

I didn't give your comment much credence, but then I clicked on the comments to the linked article. Lo and behold, the third comment in managed to blame all of this on the US's interference in Somalia.

It's like reading Robert Cook blame the "troubles" in Ukraine on US interference.

I'm not sure why this was posted here. Althouse has never shown an interest in JV sports before.

In fairness to Robert Cook, it might have been "Simon." Or both. I don't remember.

You're referring to this thread; briefly-stated, Cook's position was that the United States has needlessly antagonized Russia in regard to the Ukraine, while mine was (and is) that the west has done so. The difference is that Cook is always interested in blaming America for everything, while I'm more interested in figuring out what precisely we did wrong so we can fix it as we move forward.

Kenya, like virtually all African countries, has gun control.

State military and police have guns, terrorist have guns, criminals have guns, but all others are disarmed. Hence it is easy to force the populace to do one's bidding.

That school was a 'gun free zone'.

And you see the results. All the teachers should have been armed with assault rifles.

You forgot 5) Israel. But otherwise, yeah. Poor helpless muslims at the mercy of forces beyond their control... If only they had a democrat party economic stimulus package, that would fix things. Maybe a Joe Biden three-letter JOBS program...

You should consider the possibility that we didn't do anything wrong, yes?

Let's stipulate that America never did anything wrong before November 2008. Okay?

Then we elected Barack Obama.

That was pretty majorly, disastrously wrong, no?

So enough of this disingenuous "America never did anything wrong" crap. We both know better.

DanTheMan म्हणाले...

I was referring to the thread above re: Russia and the Ukraine.

It may well be possible that the US did nothing wrong, and thus the Russians are entirely responsible for any negative results.
Your rant about 2008 says much about you than me, I'm afraid.
