"A group of Muslims plan on forming a 'peace ring' around a synagogue in Oslo, Norway, following the recent attack on a synagogue in Copenhagen."

"Hajrad Arshad, the 17-year-old organizing the event, told Norway broadcaster NRK that the group wants to 'extinguish the prejudices people have against Jews and against Muslims.'"

Good. I hope they don't lose their heads over it.

Not sure I would be comforted by that if I were going to the synagog. It only takes one ringer among the ringers for this to go very badly.

Yawn. Every time, when the Muslims feel there's a danger maybe they'be gone too far... they go and do a peace ring and cry on the TV that they're not all like that.

Never a mass protest, though they're good at that for other things.

Remember a few years back when everyone was crying joyful tears at the Muslims 'protecting' Coptic Churches in Egypt? Yeah, how'd that work out.

Propaganda, nothing but. It's like saying the Allies were the bad guys in WWII because Oskar Schindler was German and he was a really good guy.

But this is what I'm talking about in the other thread. A tiny number do the actual killing, but the community at large runs interference to ensure that the flow of Islamic colonizers continues. The peace ring guys aren't going to come out and say yes, there needs to be greater policing of who comes into the country. That yes, Muslims need to police their communities and absorb the cultural norms of the host. No, they're just going to give a show that will prevent exactly 0 future attacks but give the fifth column something to crow about.

Madisonfella,

Do you believe that it's possible when group X is looking bad, that group X might make a public act or statement to diffuse that image, *without making any actual steps towards fixing the actual cause of the problem*?

Then kindly shove it. You can argue that they are in fact doing something legitimate, but don't snark that this somehow disqualifies the very idea of bad faith.

Funny how the same guy who refuses to provide links when asked is always demanding other people provide links. Bonus points for building that "precise phrasing" part too. your Uncle Saul must be very proud of you.

What is funny is that even tho I never claimed anything about "precise phrasing", an example of that precise phrasing is quickly found:
"One day, I hope to wake up and find that everyone finally realizes that there is no such thing as a peaceful muslim. There are only muslims."

Men commit rape at ten times the rate that women do. Does that mean men who oppose rape aren't the male norm?

There were only a few dozen murders in Norway last year, and around 120,000 Muslims. If the norm for Muslims is to be pro-murder, one has to wonder why there is only around 1 murder for every 4000 of them. Maybe the rest are just lazy?

There were peaceful Europeans among those who landed at Plymouth and Jamestown.

Doesn't change the fact that the Indians would have been well advised to drive every single one of them into the sea without exception.

Even if every single Muslim in the 'peace ring' does so in good faith, it does not change the fact that:

1) They seek more Muslims moving into Europe
2) Those Muslims will seeks to impose their culture on the host.
3) They will do so violently if the host does not submit.

Every woman in Jamestown who gave birth to at least three offspring who survived to reproduce brought about the inevitable destruction of the Indian as the men defending the stockade. Likewise, every 'peaceful' Muslim family that does not actively fight any more of their own following them into the West is complicit in the bloody war that is coming to Europe.

You, madisonfella, are just as guilty. You will provide cover for as long as possible and so ensure the maximum amount of chaos when all goes to hell.

And if history is any indication, when the balloon finally goes up and you find yourself in the unenviable position of having to explain to the only tribe that would possibly take you in that you are part of why so many of their sons will die in the Reconquista, you will try to cover tracks by having the loudest voice demanding 'justice'. While I, today, say let the Muslim have his slice of the world from Morocco to Pakistan but leave Europe to Europeans, the day will come when you demand the heads of children, all to protect your own skin.

The voters time? Taxpayers dollars? The voters are the legislature, this wasn't a public proposition. And the incremental cost for this is virtually zero.

Ervin Kohn, the leader of Oslo’s Jewish community, said he would allow the event if 30 people or more attended. He said it might "seem counter-productive" otherwise.

What's the over/under here on attendance? Is it 30?

And, what do they need to form a peace ring for?

It doesn't really tell me in the article, it just references some sort of attack in a far away place.

Who are they trying to protect these Jews from?

The Legislature works for the voters/taxpayers/residents of the State of Virginia and when they spend time and money on symbolic nonsense like this which is outside the jurisdiction of their State, they are wasting the time and money that belong to the voters/taxpayers/residents of the State of Virginia. If they've already solved the problems of their State, they should adjourn early and go home.

You should definitely vote against your state rep in Virginia if he was part of this. Otherwise, your irrelevant opinion noted.

I fee the same way about my senator, Bernie Sanders, pushing for a Fed bailout of Greece. What does that have to do with the issues of the State of Vermont, or Leahy trying to push gun grabbers onto the Supreme Court, for that matter.

But here we are and this is how our democracy works.

Revenant said...

It is actually a bit worse than that, if you look up the text of the bill. It isn't "in support of Israel"; it is a call for total Israeli political supremacy over the Biblical lands of Israel, including the West Bank and Gaza.

In short, it is a bill that not only flaunts established US foreign policy going back to 1948, but flaunts established *Israeli* policy, too.

An amusing attitude to take, given that the thread kicked off with someone complaining that Virginia's Democratic legislators were refusing to vote. Either zero or one of them was his state rep, so why should we care about his opinion of the others' behavior?

Here's the difference between you and I.

I wish legislatures would waste more time doing nothing, and spend less time "Doing something!"

It's a disease, I tell you. It's the "We need to do something!" disease.

Just once I'd like to see a legislature get elected on the platform that nothing ought to be done. That every time they "Do something!" they end up just screwing things up more.

Why doesn't this group of Muslims just encourage ISIS to do religious oppression the Amerikan way: insist that "Allahu akbar" or "Boko haram" be engraved prominently on all the bills and coins, that "moments of silence" be observed at public facilities so as to grant time for the believers to pray, require pledges and anthems of religious patriotism in all classrooms and sports events, and provide for monuments engraved with the Koran to be featured in courtrooms, park lands and national monuments throughout the land?

Not to mention, found public schools to indoctrinate the youth in ISIS "exceptionalism."
