Mark Bittman shows James Hamblin how to cook spaghetti squash.

Comment at The Atlantic:
"Oh James, I could so teach you to cook. And I love the look of bewilderment on Mark's face when James eats the raw spinach of the box."

I hope the young man doesn't actually practice medicine. He exudes uselessness and incompetence. Also, I can easily picture him wearing his onesie pajamas, sipping cocoa and pondering his love of Obamacare.

But seriously. Was that supposed to be humorous? The simplicity of the dish, plus the stupidity of the young man, were frustrating to watch.

That guy's 31? Whatever he's been eating seems to be working.

I love spaghetti squash and this was an interesting recipe.

However, I bet this James Hamblin, MD, kid has his lunch money taken every day at the hospital.

So, that's an advertisement for Aetna?

Mark Bittman is frankly a crackpot.

And I'm not referring to a kitchen utensil.

Here's a soupcon of his "thoughts":

"I have spent a great deal of time talking about the food movement and its potential, because to truly change the food system you really have to change just about everything: good nutrition stems from access to good food; access to good food isn't going to happen without economic justice; that isn’t going to happen without taxing the superrich."

Geezus, everything is politics including that piece of bread you're eating.

Like I said: pot meets crack.

I think the number-1 reason why people don't cook, isn't because they don't know how, it's because of the clean-up involved.

I watched a cooking show with a demonstration of how easy it is to make for yourself the thing you buy pre-prepared! It was just so quick and easy! But, behind the cook were two pans, a knife, a cutting board, etc.

The pre-prepared came in its own disposable dish. Heat it up, eat it, throw it out. No clean-up required.

In the same kitchen, imagined darkly:

Bittman (staring blankly into the distance): Bring forth this editorial manchild so that we might prepare the spaghetti squash of social justice!

Assistant: This is a win-win-win-win, Mark. You're on fire. Everybody wins. The Times, The Atlantic, Aetna, The People!

Bittman: It's all connected.

Assistant: Absolutely, Mark. You're all win.

Bittman: The wind, the solar cycles, my carbon footprint. The People shall cook and love cooking. The People shall love one another and love the Earth!

Assistant: Totally, Mark.

Bittman: This bores me!

Like Bittman, I haven't had a good spaghetti squash since the Reagan tax cuts kicked in.

Another of this loon's insights (just last week):

"What’s more depressing, gutting progressive moves in school nutrition or gutting progressive moves in restaurant meal labeling?"

Normal people see a potato and think of french fries or a baked potato with sour cream; he sees a potato and thinks of the military industrial complex.

Really, the man is a crackpot.
