Dead Hollywood.

An appealing memorial to those who crossed over to the other side this year:

Via Throwing Things where there's one comment: "TCM totally made the right call on their choice for the final slot. My mind just went directly to James Garner." But James Garner is second to the last, not the last. And the person shown last is the right call. And it's not Robin Williams or Philip Seymour Hoffman.

It was Shirley for sure. The Temple part in the video was played by the Swan House at Atlanta History Center

They do this well every year...

So many talented people, and many of the good eggs, too. I'd forgotten about Bob Hoskins, and "Jaws".

So many who are still with us that I'd rather see on the list. . .

Remember all the tweets and comments about how it was good she (Shirley Temple Black) died since she was a Republican?

Did I miss something, I saw Mickey Rooney but I did not see his name, he died in April. I replayed just to make sure.

Mickey Rooney is one of the first ones. Watch it again.

Many needed no names in the clip.

I thought the last would be Miss Bacall.

Mickey Rooney had a long career and a long, long life. He got to outlive most of those who would have truly mourned his passing. That's a mixed blessing. The amputated portions within the human heart does not make its beating any easier.

Miss Temple is a fitting finally. Can someone explain Frank Mankiewicz to me. As noted he was a "Journalist and Political Strategist". I also know several members of his family were luminaries in the "biz" and he headed NPR. That seems like thin gruel to me. Was he really included in the TMC video because his son works there?

So many good ones gone, some I forgot that were gone. Some I will miss.

It would be hard to rank them

Eli Wallach, Number One!

Shirley Temple ruled.

It's been said that she saved Hollywood in the Depression. How many people have had that said about them?

Babe Ruth is said to have saved baseball. Who else can be said to have saved something?

We'll exclude Jesus.

that was beautiful

I don't know if movies will ever mean as much to younger generations. But to me (born 1943), this was like a eulogy for friends, family, and . . . what should I say? Others.

I'll have a Shirley Temple please.

Thanks for sharing this. Well done. The Oscars should take note.

As for James Garner, that was my grandma's crush (although she could have been his mom). When the Rockford Files were on, she said it's time for my James!

Rockford Files is on Netflix. Great show. So well written.

They should have included Elizabeth Pena.

All I want is nothing more
To hear you knocking at my door
Cause if I could see your face once more
I could die a happy man I'm sure

When you said your last goodbye
I died a little bit inside
I lay in tears in bed all night
Alone without you by my side

But if you loved me
Why'd you leave me
Take my body
Take my body
All I want is
And all I need is
To find somebody
I'll find somebody
Like you (oh)
(Like you)

See you brought out the best of me
A part of me I've never seen
You took my soul and wiped it clean
Our love was made for movie screens

But if you loved me
Why'd you leave me
Take my body
Take my body
All I want is
And all I need is
To find somebody
I'll find somebody

But if you love me
Why'd you leave me
Take my body
Take my body
All I want is
And all I need is
To find somebody
I'll find somebody
Like you (oh)
