"Thanks, Chuck. Go Packers."

Gov. Walker on "Meet the Press" this morning. I'm waiting for the transcript, but I'll just say that he used the expression "fresh and organic" again to refer to the kind of government he wants, and he all but announced that he's running for President.

UPDATE: New post here with the transcript.

Common ground!
The Bears still suck.

Original Mike ayon kay ...

Did MTP go back to providing transcripts?

traditionalguy ayon kay ...

Walker is into a trot now and may break into a gallup when the pollsters ring the bell...soon. That Randy guy is pulling ahead.

traditionalguy ayon kay ...

If Reince Priebus (sic) is Chairman of the Republican Party, that should give Walker first billing on the fund raising shindigs ...THINK KOCH.

traditionalguy ayon kay ...

That can be Walker's campaign slogan: "Things go better with Koch." Or maybe " Give the world a Koch" or was that,"Give the Kochs the world?"

furious_a ayon kay ...

"Walker/? 2016 -- Organic from the Bottom Up"

The yard signs practically print themselves.

Bob R ayon kay ...

Yeah, the Kochs are going to be a liability, given that team blue is going to put up a bunch of candidates ho have never accepted funding from billionaires and never used their political connections for personal gain.

Original Mike ayon kay ...

Koch Brothers! The last resort for those who've got nothing.

MaxedOutMama ayon kay ...

The Whole Foods of politics? I have to say I am not impressed by the slogan.

"Boring and functional" works well for me. I also like "Tediously competent".

I believe that federal government unions are only legal because of an executive order by JFK. Walker as President could be very interesting.

This gives the Althouse blog a front row seat, much to shits and chagrins of garage mahal.

During the debates Walker said his plans were to, if re-elected, serve the entire term as Governor. Was he sincere when he made that statement? Why should we trust anything that comes out of his mouth?

Wince ayon kay ...

Have a Koch and a smile.

It's the real thing, Koch.

JackWayne ayon kay ...

Walker is my current preferred choice. He needs to get out there and start speaking.

Gahrie ayon kay ...

On the other hand, when Tim Russert asked then Senator-elect Obama in November 2004 if he would serve out his full Senate term, Obama replied: "Absolutely." But hold on a minute, that was four years before the 2008 election. Well, in January 2006—right about where we are now in terms of the 2016 cycle—Russert asked Obama if he would run for president or vice president in 2008. "I will not," he replied. Nine months later gave birth to "I have thought about it over the last several months." Four months after that, Barack Obama stood in front of a cheering crowd in Springfield, Illinois, and announced his candidacy for the White House. So much for filling out his term in the Senate.

Original Mike ayon kay ...

I don't know what it is, but I don't see Scott Walker as presidential timber.

Gahrie ayon kay ...

Earlier this week, Sen. Elizabeth Warren stated unequivocally that she would not run for president in 2016: "I am not running for president and I plan to serve out my term." That's it, then, right? No how, no way.

virgil xenophon ayon kay ...

But was he wearing his cheese-head hat during the interview today? Now THAT would seal the deal..

(The willingness of presidential candidates to wear silly headwear being the sine qua non of a true presidential candidate. JFK was the only modern one who refused. Once when offered a Chieftain's War Bonnet by some Indian tribe he refused to put it on--he only proudly held it for the photogs..)

Really, Chuck?

Lt. Governor Rebecca Kleefisch would serve out his term. She's a hottie BTW."

Curious George ayon kay ...

"...18 to 24 year olds was statistically essentially a tie. So we reached out to young voters, not just traditional voters, who were voting our way."

Apparently living in your parents basement wearing a onesy isn't all that it's cracked up to be.

Mid-Life Lawyer ayon kay ...

Shhhhhhh....Don't let them know the Koch thing doesn't work. The amount of wasted energy and rhetoric directed atthese patriots that 99% of the electorate could care less about, is one of the greatest things we have going for us. Probably second only to their fixation with climate change.

Chance ayon kay ...

Enough with the flyover state Presidents.

he all but announced that he's running for President.

The primaries will show whether he has a national appeal outside of Wisconsin. For me for now he's the most interesting possibility, mainly because He's had a lot of recent successful campaigning under his belt.

During the debates Walker said his plans were to, if re-elected, serve the entire term as Governor.

So the promise will come back to haunt him? Be real, no one who is likely to vote for him will give a damn.

Have a Koch and a smile.

Hey, it worked for his opponents so far, right? Er … not so much. But keep beating that dead horse and throw in the 'war on women,' too, because THAT had so much traction with the voters. And please don't forget about climate change. Sure it's a losing issue at this moment but just wait until the poles melt and the oceans rise. THEN the stupid voters will be sorry …

Wilbur ayon kay ...

Walker has a Pawlenty's chance of getting the nomination. He just isn't known outside of his state. To most voters elsewhere he's unknown.

Bush and Reagan both already had name recognition when they ran. Dukakis is the last governor I remember who emerged in the campaign to get the nomination. It helped that he ran against a less than stellar field.

Some would say the same about the 2016 GOP field.

Wilbur ayon kay ...

Well, Romney too, I guess.

Drago ayon kay ...

garage mahal: "Tax cuts and piss tests. So fresh. So organic."

Thanks for another good laugh garage.

Hindi-nagpakilala ayon kay ...

Excellent point Gahrie. Walker is no better than Obama when it comes to casually lying to the people.

It is amazing how both men have shown that they willing and able to be deceitful with the American public, yet so many fools still blindly support them.

So the promise will come back to haunt him? Be real, no one who is likely to vote for him will give a damn.

Another excellent point. Walker supporters don't seem to care at all about his blatant dishonesty and thus it won't affect their vote at all.

Same thing happened when it was pointed out that Walker lied about an endorsement he claimed to have received. Instead of condemning Walker's falsehood, his strongest supporter on this blog attacked the messenger as being "toxic" for just bringing the issue up!

Smart money is on "yes", plus, on reform of the Government Accountability Board along with amending the statutes that allowed Chisholm to launch his witch hunt in the first place. When all the facts finally come out, it will be Walker and Republicans who will be widely seen to be the true progressives in Wisconsin. The courage of Eric O'Keefe and the other targets of the John Doe terrorism will become legendary.

The Democrats have done a good job making sure everyone has heard of the Koch brothers. Why haven't the Republicans done the same thing with Steyer and Soros? I only recently learned about Steyer's massive donation to the Democrats.

Did you miss the elections Shortnbus? Walker beat Burke. His "plagiarism problem" is looking to take another sabbatical.

I think you were attempting a joke here, but spoiled by yet another spelling error. Walker does have a plagiarism problem of copying other campaigns though.

All in all I'd be remiss if I didn't state

Wilbur ayon kay ...

"Walker does have a plagiarism problem of copying other campaigns though."

It doesn't seem to have had any impact locally (statewide).

Or, The GOP can deal with it like Democrats deal with Biden's plagiarism: Oh, that's just Goofy Joe being a rascal again.

paminwi ayon kay ...

Dear ken in tx: pay the fuck attention. If you have only heard about Steyer and Soros now you are obviously a clueless individual.

Bless your heart!

Rick Lockridge ayon kay ...

Jeff Zucker has been to my alma mater CNN what Ebola is to West Africa (What? Too soon?) but he did give us this gem, which Walker should appropriate: "We are going to do less....with less." Exactly.

grackle ayon kay ...

The Democrats have done a good job making sure everyone has heard of the Koch brothers. Why haven't the Republicans done the same thing with Steyer and Soros?

Because it's not worth the effort? Because no one really gives a damn on either side? Because as an issue it's already been tested(by the Democrats) and found to be a non-issue?

Mark ayon kay ...

...Because campaigning hard against the Koch Brothers worked so well in keeping the Senate in Harry Reid's hands.

Hell of a plan there, Harry.

The only place I can find this is at Wisconsin Reporter. Either it is bogus, or no one else has bothered to cover it. Of course, it did happen on Election Day.

GAB, Milwaukee County DA bail on key provision behind war on conservatives

In a court filing that one constitutional law expert calls a “stunning reversal,” the Government Accountability Board appears to concede that the “legal theory” driving the secret John Doe investigation into Wisconsin conservatives is legally “indefensible.”

A joint motion filed by both parties on Election Day in U.S. District Court in Milwaukee stipulates that a court-issued injunction preventing the accountability board and Milwaukee County District Attorney John Chisholm from enforcing a constitutionally suspect section of Wisconsin campaign finance law will remain in force.

The agreement also halts further proceedings before U.S. District Judge Rudolph Randa, while Milwaukee-based Citizens for Responsible Government Advocates, a conservative 501(c)(4) group, petitions the state Supreme Court to hear the case.

A constitutional law expert tells Wisconsin Reporter that the GAB and the district attorney have essentially “rolled over” on the merits of CRGA’s case, and that the accountability board and the DA are coming to terms with the fact that their interpretation of state campaign finance law is indefensible.

“Really this is just stunning,” said the legal expert, who asked to remain anonymous due to his proximity to the case. “A couple of months ago this is the legal theory that John Chisholm was defending to the hilt. At this point, the state has rolled over on the issue and agreed that their own conduct must be enjoined.”

Meade ayon kay ...

Koch brothers, Steyer, Soros... all are distractions from what the majority of voters want government to focus on: Economic prosperity (growth and opportunity), Law, Order, and Freedom.

If the Republicans successfully lead the nation toward and keep their focus on those 4 things, they will continue to win elections and inspire hope and optimism. That's what Scott Walker did.

The candidates who get bogged down with contentious social issues such as marriage, abortion, race, health insurance, etc., and stay stuck on issues of negativity, envy, and fear will lose.

This one is a real hoot:

Guest Blog: In strong defense of Mike Tate
What follows is a guest blog by Graeme Zielinski, former Communications Director for the Democratic Party of Wisconsin.

I’ve seen that there are some knives out for Mike Tate.
I just worked on the Illinois governor’s race, where we were wiped off the face of the earth in a PLUS-EIGHT DEMOCRATIC STATE by the same monied wave of destruction that encountered Democrats across the country.

In Wisconsin, we had a preview of this unholy pottage of dark money and partisan craving, in the 2010, 2011 and 2102 Scott Walker cycles.

Fun watching liberal heads explode .

It will to to SCOWI, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of the groups under investigation. They of course will get rid of the case. Then Walker & Co. will get rid of the GAB, and then get rid of Shirley Abrahamason. A full blown dictatorship. What Meade calls "freedom".

Health insurance is a social issue? If you don't see the connection between ObamaCare and freedom and economic prosperity then you are a fool.

BTW, virtually every major GOP candidate that won last week campaigned on the repeal of ObamaCare.

Meade ayon kay ...

Thanks, garage. Go Packers.

Meade ayon kay ...

@Curious G, yes, ObamaCare is essentially a social issue. It's a social issue that seriously affects the economy.

Notice the winning candidates did not talk about repealing ObamaCare because... abortion, birth control, rape, marriage, gayness, religion, etc.

They talked about repealing it because we cannot afford the economics of it. And then they went on to win the most votes.

Drago ayon kay ...

Like Walker said he wants to "repeal" Common Core, which isn't even a law. There is nothing to repeal. They can get away with saying they will repeal things because most GOP voters are abject morons.

Hammond X. Gritzkofe ayon kay ...

Well said, Meade - though I'd suggest an inverse of your order.

Freedom - Liberty, sovereignty and dignity of the individual;

Order - uniform application of the Law, no favoritism, no exceptions;

Law - it follows from the above, the minimum necessary;

Economic Prosperity, growth and opportunity - will surely follow.

Chisholm's "investigation" had nothing to do potential law-breaking. Its purpose was chilling conservative fund raising. Now that the election is over, it serves no purpose. In fact it's a potential liability if it draws too much attention. Best that it just fades away.
