Further on down the road...

Untitled

That picture made me think of this old song...
When I think back, your love was like the sun
And I don't remember no cold days now
I just remember the warm warm sun
Further on down the road baby, you will accompany me...
It's on this fine album.

looks like you are ascending a hill.

Shouldn't the title of the post be "Further on UP the road"?

Just asking

Taj Mahal plays at the Stoughton Opera House on Nov 5th. Great venue.

Coincidentally, Nov 5th is the day Republicans vote. #GOTV

It's further on down the road from where we were yesterday.

@garage

Thanks!

Buy tickets here.

That's only a 20-minute drive for us.

Thanks. I was just checking Wikipedia to see if Taj Mahal was here with us on earth, not knowing he'd be here with us in Wisconsin so soon.

Very cool. I would love to see him.

Nuclear fusion happened.

The biggest news today, or for the last few decades.

It's a neat place to see a show. If I remember correctly it's a solo gig. Only drawback to that place is your butt will get sore sitting in the wood seats.

I love that song. My aged and respected father has the vinyl, and I grew up on stuff like that. Taj Mahal, Johnny Winter (RIP), Electric Flag, Janis, and pretty much anyone else who played at the Fillmore in 1969 or 1970. I was born too late =).

Any one who goes to the Stoughton Opera House knows to bring a cushion along.

They have no problem with that at all.

Is it churlish to mention that he had three wives and 15 children, none of which he spent any real time with?

Fusion could not possibly happen because that would suggest that private business and the free market would have solved the CO2 "crisis."

We all know that that is impossible.

There are two separate announcements from two different research groups on two separate fusion projects, so color me hopeful.

Imagine leaving all that coal and oil in the ground. Telling Putin to go pound salt with his natural gas.

If it were to happen, it would be a titanic shift in the course of world history.

On a par with the industrial revolution. Clean power. Really clean power.

Compact fusion, just in time for 2015, they year that McFly visited the future, I think, anyway, so somebody predicted it.

"Further on down the road baby, you will accompany me" = "That you're moving on the backroads
by the rivers of my memory - And for hours you're just gentle on my mind..."

The Bowe Bergdahl desertion verdict is in, but it won't be revealed to the public until after the election. Care to speculate?

(Trying to give this thread some direction before it becomes another episode of Crack's NeverEnding Rorschach Test.)

Compact fusion, just in time for 2015, they year that McFly visited the future, I think, anyway, so somebody predicted it.

"Connected to sensors, injectors, a turbopump to generate an internal vacuum and a huge array of batteries, the stainless steel container seems an unlikely first step toward solving a conundrum that has defeated generations of nuclear physicists—namely finding an effective way to control the fusion reaction."

And I though the Holy Grail was an effective way to sustain the fusion reaction.

Althouse directs us to 1969. Here's the digital download center as Amazon where you can pick and choose your tracks at $.99 a pop. Use the Althouse Amazon portal order. I wonder what the cut is on $.99?

The digital version is visible at my link, and if you click on it, you can choose individual tracks.

But I'm trying to say that the whole thing, the double album, is great, played in order, with all the tracks. You don't get the same experience with an isolated track. And it's not liked that one song is the best thing. What's cool is that the first disc "Giant Step" is more pop, including the title song, which The Monkees did, and the second disc "De Ole Folks at Home" is all old-timey and folky, including my personal favorite "Annie's Lover."

Here's "Annie's Lover."

("He never spent much time worrying about the peoples in the big, big city.")

I just noticed...

When I click on the title of a blog entry, the tab shows Ann's profile pic with "Althouse: [title of post]".

And when I click on the "xx comments" link, the tab shows the Blogger logo with "Blogger: Althouse - post a comment".

Meh, that's as deep as it gets for me, tonight, as this time.

My mom would correct the use of "Further" to "Farther".
