Congratulations. It's no wonder the Republicans call you "Law Professor Ann".

Congratulations! That's a milestone to be proud of.

Magnificent!! 1984 was a very good year for U of Wisconsin Law School.

You don't look a day over 29 academic years.

Great accomplishment. Congrats.

Got to love that tenure

Are you bragin', or complainin'?

So what was the biggest change in the content of what you teach over that time period? ( excluding, of course, changes related to teaching an entirely different course. )

What was the biggest change in your teaching method?

Congratulations! That's some stability.

Congrats - I am in my 18th year at the same job. It is the longest I have ever worked in the same job. [I am one year younger than you. I doubt I will make it to 30 years since I hope to retire before then].

Congratulations, Ann. I retired from teaching after 27 years. There IS life after teaching! :) It may be time.

Drago বলেছেন...

Congratulations!

I think.

I mean, one might assume you were happy in this role and that longevity was the goal.

One might also wonder whether or not after a few years in the academic "saltmines" the idea of moving back to a more competitive (assuming that non-academic roles are more competitive based) corporate/litigation/etc role might have been viewed as perhaps "daunting" in some way.

Again, not to diminish your 30 year anniversary. Simply an open question.

Ambrose বলেছেন...

Congratulations. 30 years of fortunate students.

David বলেছেন...

Wow. That's stamina.

Do you plan to reflect on the changes in the schools, and the changes in you?

And share?

You picked an interesting and challenging field. That always helps.

mccullough বলেছেন...

You and Michael Jordan were rookies at the same time.

DrSquid বলেছেন...

Congratulations! No wonder you're so out of touch.

Bob বলেছেন...

This seems like a good time to ask: What prompted you way back in 84 to exit the world of the NY biglaw associate and enter academia?

Titus বলেছেন...

Congrat's Mary but 30 years doing the same job? Perhaps it's time for che che change!

Ann Althouse বলেছেন...

I have no reflections on the subject other than...

Round numbers are interesting.

The end of every academic year brings you to 4 months without classes, so by fall everything always seems new again.

One mostly lives by the day and in the day.

I have always felt fortunate to have this job, and at this point I'm also fortunate to be free to retire.

Law professor is quite possibly THE best job... at least if you like reading and figuring out things that are not beautifully written and are not too afraid to talk about them.

No more pencils,
no more books,
no more of Althouse's dirty looks!

Beldar বলেছেন...

Congratulations on a significant milestone, Professor Althouse!

"It was 30 years ago today,
Professor Ann taught the law her way..."

Congratulations. I had hoped to get to 30 years with my employer and then retire, but only got to 27.

n.n বলেছেন...

Congratulations. But, you don't look a day over 29.

Freeman Hunt বলেছেন...

Congratulations!

They give you a rocking chair?

Congrats! I've been at it about as long, only at the high school level. I hope, like me, that you still enjoy going to work!
