That poodle needs a "field cut" for his coat. Without all the foo-foo hair styling they are very handsome dogs. Water retrievers at that. That big good looking fella will give Mr. Zeus the Lab a run and a dive for his money if you were to place the both of them in proximity to a lake and a thrown tennis ball.

Hey!
You know what bugs me?
When O'Rielly or Obama or anyone uses the term "folks". I find it very condescending.

Another thing :
When there is a posting stating "so and so" said (whatever). Then without fail some one will comment "so and so who?"

Postings and discussions about TV series:
"I haven't watched TV since they converted to color...."

I have plenty more, don't get me started......

Poodles take a lot of heat as overbred lap dogs, but a full-size well-cared-for poodle is a magnificent dog.

They make fine retrievers for water fowl. Very smart breed of dog. Not shy of the shotgun if acclimated from an early age. Needs to be run, and run often. Allowed to swim too. A field cut is a must for serious dog work. It doesn't have to be cut to the skin but a short cut does wonders for the breeds look and will be a much discussed topic when you're out with him/her.

Addendum - The name "Poodle" most likely came out of the German word "Pudel," which means "one who plays in water." The "Poodle clip" [southern translation - field cut] was designed by hunters to help the dogs swim more efficiently. They would leave hair on the leg joints to protect them from extreme cold and sharp reeds. The hunters in Germany and France used the Poodle as a gundog and as a retriever of waterfowl and to sniff out truffles laying underground in the woods.
