The plot thickens..

"But Kristof and Farrow aren’t just ‘friends.’ They are close friends. Romantic? I’m not suggesting that. They travel together, Kristof writes about Farrow often, he Tweets and re-Tweets her. They are too close for him to be delivering Dylan’s accusations."

NYT: "All the news we see fit to print."

Has anybody seen Inside Llewen Davis and can anybody tell me what it was supposed to be about?

The music was great, but did it actually have a plot?

when you post these it's like the "this marks the end of our broadcast day" announcement.

I hope that's not a groundhog, because he can see the heck out of his shadow.

It is. They are going out to buy arugula and visit one of those Danish modern museums.

"Low light" kind of like the SuperBowl on my TV anyway

Took forever to load, but worth it.

At the Superbowl venue, in MetLife Stadium, they have JumboTron-like screens in each of the four corners. During yesterday's game, the hue and saturation were off. The Bronco jerseys were bright red, not orange. I was in the stands, watching the contrast. It was weird.

Also, the audio in MetLife Stadium was too loud (for the speakers) and too rich (ditto). The result was distortion.

I finally saw Blue Jasmine. I agree that it was a great performance by Cate Blanchett, but that was the only worthy thing about it. The working class men were modeled after Terry Malloy and Stanley Kowalski rather than any working class man you're apt to encounter in real life......But Allen has a surer touch when presenting a haute woman with artistic pretensions. He's probably known plenty......I got the sense that Blue Jasmine was modeled more after Mia Farrow than Blanche Dubois or Ruth Madoff. Jasmine is married to a fraud. She turns a blind eye to his sexual and financial transgressions so long as he buys her off with expensive jewels and maintains a facade of respectability. When, however, the Baldwin character tells her that he's leaving her for a teenager, she completely loses it. She reports his financial misdeeds to the Feds. The subsequent disgrace ruins both him and her.......When you stop to think about it, this is a stylized way of retelling the Farrow/Allen partnership and breakup. He had bought Farrow's blindness not with jewels but with juicy roles. When he announced his affair with Soon Yi, Farrow dropped a dime on him........There's a lot of wish fulfillment in fiction. Blue Jasmine as a crazy woman talking to herself on the park bench is Allen's profoundest wish for Farrow. The son who blames the mother and not the father for the family's disgrace is another bit of wish fulfillment.....If I can see this subtext in the movie, you can bet Mia Farrow and her children have also spotted it. That's probably why they're speaking out so forcibly against Alen.

Check your white privilege. This black history month, remember everything is your fault and you should feel bad.

James Lileks' dog Jasper died last week. Not unexpected, but sad nevertheless. He wrote a very nice post about it. Always sad to lose a dog.

That was mean of me, and I apologize. Envious, if anything.

As for Obama and the IRS, he is right that there is no evidence of corruption in the sense of any outside (the government) person or agency paid, or wined and dined, these people to do what they did, but then no one has suggested this that I know of.

However, there is plenty of evidence that not only the IRS, but also a number of other government agencies, in this context is corrupt in the sense that my operating system has been corrupted when it has been invaded by a malicious virus.

On all of O'Reilly's questions, none of which related to anything new that he could possibly have been surprised by, he tried to tap dance and did not get away with it.

Just watched the re-run of the beginnng of the O'Reilly show.
If you think O'Reilly was disrespectful, picture the scene if Obama had tried to pull this on Megyn Kelly or Greta van Susteren!
