"North Korean dictator Kim Jong-Un sentenced his uncle to be eaten alive by a pack of 120 wild dogs...."

"Jang Song-Thaek, 67, along with five close aides, was stripped naked and thrown into a cage of hounds which had been starved for three days, according to new details emerging from China."
The pack of animals spent more than an hour mauling the group in a punishment called 'quan jue,' or execution by dogs, a report in Chinese newspaper Wen Wei Po said.
ADDED: Tim Stanley, a historian of the United States, writes in The Telegraph:
Western news outlets are slowly picking up the story but I'd urge caution. North Korean media has made no reference to starved dogs, including in Kim's New Year's message – even though the chubby prince did describe his uncle as "filth" (and a Happy New Year to you, too, comrade!). Moreover, why were 120 hounds used when half a dozen would do? And why the audience of 300? It's all a bit James Bond, a bit shark-tank-in-an-underground-bunker.

I've seen the torture videos from the Saddam Hussein regime. They are probably still available online somewhere. This is of a piece with that.

Wow garage.....you're willing to believe the most lame bullshit about Republicans, but are willing to give corrupt, evil, vicious Communist dictators the benefit of the doubt.....

Even if this didn't happen, the real scum is Kim Jong-Un. North Korea won't live under tyranny forever - I hope Kim lives long enough to experiences the Ceausescu/Mussolini treatment.

The brutal way dictators rule- showy executions make examples of a few and the rest will be easy to govern. Thank god we live in a nation where that doesn't happen.

Just read the comments at the DM and the average Brit commenter makes GM seem positively brilliant in comparison.

This guy just might be too crazy even for the Chinese.
It would not surprise me if they were to make a regime change in NK to a regime that is less crazy and troublesome for them while still retaining a buffer state.

Why 120 hungry hounds to kill 6 people? Showmanship as the dogs attack en masse. It's much more entertaining for a psychopath.

Why an audience of 300? It serves as a powerful warning - this can happen to you.

Perhaps I'm not as gullible as you. I didn't believe his father scored 11 hole-in-ones out of 18 holes either.

I forgot to add, this makes the execution of the guy killed by a mortar round look merciful by comparison. It may not have been pretty but it certainly was a fast way to go.

Fritz म्हणाले...

So are we supposed to be upset that he killed some fellow communists or that he starved some dogs?

Given that you believe all the bullshit and lies coming from President Obama and the Progressives, I'd say you are much more gullible than me.

By the way, the way the story should end is "...he then had the dogs slaughtered and served at a lavish banquet that night."

I'm tempted to feel some sympathy for his uncle, but then I remember that you don't become a close confidant of that family without some blood on your hands. What's the old saying? Lay down with dogs, wake up with, uh, vicious starving dogs?

The South Koreans and Chinese ought to make a deal--a united Korea run by Seoul and with no military presence north of South Korea's current border. Then a combined "mercy invasion" to put that regime out once and for all. I can't imagine Beijing needs the headache of an unpredictable gang of crazies on their border, and the Cold War is long over.

That's just silly. Even the hungriest dog can't eat a whole person, and you don't want a bunch of leftovers lying around.

Sigivald म्हणाले...

It's all a bit James Bond, a bit shark-tank-in-an-underground-bunker.

He says that like that would make it less attractive to Mr. Kim.

(Also, why 120 rather than 6?

Because six men could kill 6 starved dogs if they worked together, assuming they weren't restrained.

And because it's more of a spectacle.

The entire point of such a thing is to be a spectacle for the onlookers - and for the overkill factor to make a point to whoever the intended audience might be.

It seems like a mistake to assume that the Kims are entirely rational - but also one to assume they're completely irrational.

[Assuming that they're not just a front for the military, who are alleged to actually run North Korea, with the Kims as a distraction - but in that case, the logic still applies.])

We can be grateful to Martin Bashir for documenting just how grotesquely hateful a psychopathic 18th century slaveowner (and a MSNBC host) can be. I see no reason why an autocratic dictator cannot reach similar depths......I take the story with a grain of salt, but I wouldn't reject it out of hand.....At least he didn't waterboard the poor guy. That would have really been reprehensible.

Skeptical Voter म्हणाले...

Well Idi Amin liked to throw his victims to crocodiles back in the good old days in Uganda.

And Kim Jong Wacko is expanding his repertoire in execution style. There's the guy who was blown up with a mortar round. Although truth to tell, I have my doubts that the mortarmen could drop the second round in the exact same spot they dropped the first one. But "close" is good enough in horseshoes, hand grenades and mortar rounds if you're only trying to kill one guy standing up.

And why not hungry dogs? After all Kim Jong Wacko did in his old girl friend and several of her fellow rock group members by executing the lot of them with a machine gun. If you've ever seen what a .50 caliber slug can do to a human body, you'd realize that what's left of a person after execution by machine gun is truly dog meat. Still that's better than feeding them to a wood chipper ala Saddam Hussein.

That article Sorun linked to (at 12:01 pm) says the account of the execution appeared in a Hong Kong paper that is the Chinese government's official mouthpiece. It was followed two days later by an editorial in another Chinese paper saying the "backwardness" of the North Korean system made it clear the time for coddling North Korea was up.

Sounds to me that China's laying the groundwork for getting rid of the guy.

The regime also tied prisoners to the ground and had a tank run over them, not to mention kidnapping Japanese children and adults and holding them prisoner for years.

Balfegor म्हणाले...

I wonder whether there are new possibilities opening up now, for coordination between China, the US, Japan, and South Korea to topple the North Korean government. South Korea, Japan, and the US cannot move aggressively without risking portions of Seoul to North Korean artillery (at a cost of perhaps hundreds of thousands of deaths), but China is not similarly exposed. China could steamroll the North.

Michael म्हणाले...

Most lies are easy enough to spot: a bit too much detail, an extravagant slip. 120 dogs was a good number, possibly an auspicious number, but not the actual number if, indeed, dogs did the deed. 7 would have been highly believable.

Balfegor म्हणाले...

Re: traditionalguy:

I don't think DPRK nukes are yet a threat to China, but the window is closing. As of now, my understanding is that South Korea/Japan/China do not think that DPRK has successfully miniaturized their nuclear devices to put them on a missile, though this is such old technology that it is only a matter of time. DPRK's missile guidance technology also seems to be crap, but I guess that could all be a clever ruse.

David म्हणाले...
