"The first electric blanket was invented in 1912 by American physician Sidney I. Russell.

Too late to nominate Sidney I. Russell for the Nobel Peace Prize?

I blame George Bush.

It's even too cold for polar bears in Chicago

In Philadelphia it is a balmy 15 degrees. I've been periodically breaking ice in the backyard water container for the birds, along with giving seeds and raisins.

Wait until NOAA "adjusts" the temperature data. You will discover that the temperature has actually been in the high fifties all week. Global warming, you know.

Next year at this time, the warming will be so severe that the arctic ice caps will be impinging on Northern Canada.

Don't put out raisins if neighborhood dogs can find them.

They're poisonous to dogs, like grapes.

Thank you rhhardin for the dog/grape incompatibility information. I did not know that, and will henceforth take precautions.

Who cares? I'm so tired of talking about the weather.

Thanks. I know that raisins, grapes, chocolate, etc., are poisonous to dogs.

Dogs cannot access backyard without an 8' ladder. Three way brick enclosure plus solid wood 4th.

But the color of the sky as far as I can see is *not* coal grey.

Bright and sunny here!

The sun always shines over Fen's head, doesn't it?

It feels positively balmy outside, looks like by our birthdays it will be tropical.

What difference, at this point, does it make?

Only 70 here today...and it's going to dip down to 66 tomorrow...time to drag out the long sleeved shirts and put the sandals away.

We're finally above zero!

That is precisely the reason I left Northern Michigan and moved to Southern California 28 years ago.

Well, down here in the subtropical part of the Midwest, we are a balmy 16 degrees right now!

Finally got above freezing at lunchtime today. Heat wave tomorrow, temps will only be a few degrees below normal.
