"We've got to work hard to make sure that they know we hear them and we are going to do everything we can to deal with folks who find themselves in a tough position as a consequence of this."
Anything in there indicate that he actually plans to do something to make the victims whole?
NBC offers us this wonderful reassurance: That part of the law does not impact the 80 percent of Americans who receive their health insurance through employers or through Medicare or Medicaid.
Nope, not that part. There's another part that screws everyone else.
Really, what an absolute clown. And I mean that in the most sincerely non-partisan way. Why do we have such awful people in positions of power in this country? Never mind, I know the answer.
Richard Nixon used to say, "Let me make this perfectly clear."
The lefties trying to defend Obama are making things worse. The two themes so far are, "You had a crappy plan," and "The insurance companies...."
People know better. Insurance companies may see a big bump in their ratings in public polls. Being attacked by a known liar may be good for your reputation.
He also said he should have been more "clear". More clear??? He couldn't have been more clear. "If you like your plan you can keep it. Period." What's not clear about that?
Reading the pull quote out of context, I thought Mr. Obama was apologizing to those poor Democrat Senators and Representatives facing tough elections next year.
After reading the context, I think I'm still right. Explicitly Mr. Obama is making apology-sounding noises to people losing their insurance. Implicitly it's Senator Joe Manchin & company who are actually giving him heat.
The word "assurances" make sense in that context.
It certainly doesn't in terms of people losing their insurance. See TomHynes at the top.
Hey, Obama, let me try to talk to you in your educated speech.
I got cancelled. No insurance as of 12/31/13. My four kids and wife are also cancelled. My son with Down syndrome is cancelled because he "might" be eligible for Medicaid.
I have had this plan since about 2006. That's long before your ACA debacle happened. Blue Cross tells me your ACA debacle is why they have to cancel the plan.
Blue Cross is the biggest insurer in America. You forced them to cancel the plan I liked. Now I estimate my costs will be about 33% higher.
Now, you spent some time at an Ivy League school. So did I. Let me tell you that I can tell a lying fuckface when I see one. You are one. Shut up now.
What a load of shit. I've looked at "His" plans and they are utter garbage. I suspect the news is missing this because most reporters have kick-ass Cadillac plans and have no idea just how bad the Obamacare coverage is.
"my intention is to lift up and make sure the insurance that people buy is effective."
You mean, like forcing people in their 50s and 60s like me to buy maternity coverage? Or pediatric coverage?
"Or women were being charged more than men."
Insurance is based on risk. Men younger than 25 get charged more for car insurance and for good reason.
Minutes after Obama gave his semi-apology he is ready for the golf links.
Notice he didn't say he was going to make it right.
Notice he didn't say he was going to direct Kathy Sebelius to IMMEDIATELY change the regulations to allow lower cost polices LIKE THE ONES CANCELLED to be purchased.

Well one way that Obama and his minions will attempt to "fix" this is to force insurance companies to do things to mitigate the damage. Obama is a constitutional law professor who doesn't seem to understand much about contracts.
My BCBS plan is gone also. Offered newe one is $2000 more deductible and 67% more expensive. At least I get pediatric and maternity coverage in case I get pregnant. I'm 62 and male so I could pay for it with the Enquirer money but now I won't have to. Yay ObastardCare!
"I am sorry that they found themselves in that act of terrorism based on assurances they got from me that the war on terror was over, we won, so reelect me and let's move on. We've got to work hard to make sure that they know we hear them and we are going to do everything we can to deal with folks who find themselves in a tough position as a consequence of this. And by 'this,' I mean my fairy tale presidency" - BHO, Sept. 12, 2012, speaking of the American diplomatic mission at Benghazi, in Libya, which was attacked on September 11, 2012, by a heavily armed group of... terrorism actors .
Big Mike said... Anything in there indicate that he actually plans to do something to make the victims whole?
If he really cared he'd have spent the last three years doing everything he could. But I'm sure he'll eventually get around to offering them our money to make up for his incompetence.
But they're not "finding themselves in this situation based on assurances they got from" President Obama. They're "finding themselves in this situation" because of the law. You can't apologize for the law, Mr. Obama, and think that makes it all better.
"I'm not wrong. We'll keep pushing this load of crap on the American people. We'll make some token effort to make a couple of people happier, but we're damn sure working overtime to root out all criticism and put those people out of work or in jail. The DOJ, HHS, IRS EPA, FDA, DHS, ATF, and other agencies at my disposal are being issued steroids and amphetamines as we speak."
I don't want your half-assed non-apology apology, Barry.
I DO want an apology from every shit-for-brains, smug, liberal reporter who blindly bought Obama's and the Dems' fantasies, and ignored the regs that were written THREE years ago, that projected the numbers of Americans who would lose their plans. And blindly ignored economic reality to buy that the new plans would LOWER costs - when tens of millions more people were supposed to get coverage - on our nickel.
You didn't do your job, and now tens of millions of Anericans who DID have insurance and were responsible citizens are being or will be screwed.
And you're STILL not doing your job, because you're not reporting how the regs also forecast half of people on employer plans will get canceled, too - it's just that that day of reckoning has been conveniently postponed for a year.
"We've got to work hard to make sure that they know we hear them and we are going to do everything we can to deal with folks who find themselves in a tough position as a consequence of this."

last night I saw Kelly Files, a cancer patient whose insurance was cancelled and he talked about how much the replacement cost. He said he would not put his children through that kind of financial hardship and would let nature take its course. There, Obama, you have his 'suicide' note. How many like him are out there? Death panel takes on a new meaning, indeed.
This was a heist, a bonanza for the insurance companies from the get go, a classic pay to play Chicago style. Ever wonder who gave him billion dollars campaign moneys?
Fuck you barry, fuck you and bugger off you lying sack. Fuck you and bugger off to everyone who voted for your shit pile obamacare. Fuck you and bugger off to everyone, every single one of you who, lying, defended barry and his shit pile. You should all be groveling apologetic on your knees before those of us screwed over by you piss on you. What a bunch of lying, ignorant fucks each and every one of you is.
1. On many of them, almost every single doctor was in the network. That means that when you met the 1/1000 who took no insurance at all, you were confused. Now, people will get used to checking to see if a doc is covered.
2. On those old, crummy, plans, you could often see a specialist without a referral. No 'visit the PCP for this weird mole' first... you could just say 'dang, that looks like melonoma' and head straight to the dermatologist. That's crazy! It's much better to have to WAIT to receive care, so you have a chance to resign yourself to your fate.
3. Under the old plans, there were too many choices. Imagine someone who's just diagnosed with cancer. Do they really need the stress of trying to figure out which cancer center is best for their particular case, and then the added stress of traveling to and from treatment? The plethora of choices was cruel and unusual. Now, they can just go to the closest hospital, survival rates be danged, and be at peace, knowing that someone else has made all the choices for them.
In other words, the policies being canceled let the middle class have the same benefits as the wealthy. That's ridiculous. The wealthy's health care isn't special if the local plumber has it too! Those were bad plans. Now, we'll have more equality in health care. Except for the political class. Because it's no fun being a noble if the burghers have all the same stuff you do.
I don't think this can possibly be a bonanza for the insurance companies if people are going to "go naked" rather than sign up for the new glorious "Obamaplans" that they can't afford, or just plain don't like and will not cooperate with.
I do think that this is a slow-motion trainwreck that is now well under way, and no one can tell just what the outcomes are going to be.
If I do something similar with my wife (i.e., say I'm sorry but don't change my behavior or even attempt to make up for if) I'm lucky if I end up on the couch.
Democrats and the media (BIRM), OTOH, are like battered spouses who are sure their man means well and does right by them. It must be their own fault (stupid me, why did I choose such an awful plan?).
If by some miracle they get past all this "roll-out" circus, and get people to signed up to these plans within "the system," I also think it is impossible for "the system" to work, i.e, you go to a doctor or clinic and have a procedure performed, the doctor or clinic will just have a hope that he/it will get paid for doing the work someday, and they can't stay in business long that way.
Whatever happens, I think Obama and the loony left have succeeded in wrecking the present system, and it is anybody's guess what will eventually replace it.
And he could eliminate "the situation" with a single phone call to the people who work for him. The people who created "the situation" in the first place.
But he's really, really sorry. Really.
Oh, and he's sorry about next month, too. Keep that in mind.
This healthcare fiasco should be presented every time the government wants to expand its power. Unlike private sector companies and the ability to move one's business from one company to another, from government incompetence there is no escape.
He can't "fix it," Freeman. Not only that he does not want to, but every attempt at "fixing it" will create new problems; it is now a moving situation, and there is no telling where it will end, or what the landscape will look like by then.
Unfortunately, fixing this before the damage is done to all those who are being canceled come 1/1/14 is about as feasible as fixing the train as it's in the process of jumping the tracks. Way too many parts in motion, way too many forces in play.
The only way it makes sense is if he means that his assurances caused people to believe him. Instead, they should have assumed he was full of BS and gone out to "upgrade" their insurance to make it Obamacare compliant.

Obamacare passed because of Obama's assurances, and Obamacare put people "in this situation". Is he sorry for Obamacare?
If not, what does he mean? Did anyone rely on Obama's assurances to change their actions and then lose their insurance? No, it was all Obamacare.
Back to choom for Choom.
SorryNotSorry, as they say on Twitter.

These guys are good guys.
Obama's guys, you see, they are good guys and all.
You see, in Chicago you hear Bob Marley man.
Only the fittest of the fittest shall survive.
Could you be loved?
Oh yeah, then be loved!
Don't let them school ya.
Or, even try to fool ya.
We've got a mind of our own; Go to Hell if what you're thinking isn't right.
We've got a life to live.
What if the President offers to make good on his promise? Won't that put Republicans in Congress in a bind? How can they say no?
Thanks, Otter.
Though there's some John Belushi going on, too. Don't be sad, people without insurance. Look at me crush this soda can on my head!
How to use "I am sorry" and not apologize.

On my blog I have a photo of a newspaper front page reassuring us that nobody died on the Titanic (yet).
What a shithook.
God, the president is such a lying twat.
Of course, "twat" is probably racist in this context.
He also said he should have been more "clear". More clear??? He couldn't have been more clear. "If you like your plan you can keep it. Period." What's not clear about that?

Either they allow you access to too many doctors and specialists.
Or they allow you to avoid paying for services you don't need.
Everything's going to be above par from now on.

Here's the thing that's going to kill the Democrats.
Who are the 5% of the people losing the plans they picked for themselves?
People who are self-employed.
These are very highly motivated people.
Yeah, right. Sure he is. I can see it in his nether regions.

There's got to be a way that Obama was right all along. Let's find it. Must be somewhere here.
Still looking.
But note this: he has greatly engorged the greedy, needy, lazy class. They might win this fight. I think they probably will.
But they're not "finding themselves in this situation based on assurances they got from" President Obama. They're "finding themselves in this situation" because of the law. You can't apologize for the law, Mr. Obama, and think that makes it all better.
The translation from Democrat English is:
"I'm not wrong. We'll keep pushing this load of crap on the American people. There's no "I" in "we".
TomHynes, it means: You f*ck-up, you trust us.
""I am sorry that they are finding themselves in this situation based on assurances they got from me.""
Says Obama
"...and I will personally recompense them for any losses they may suffer as a result of my lies," Obama did not add.

Worth repeating.
It's not just the words. It's. the. law.
Fucking sociopathic, narcissistic prick.
Wait until the employer mandate locks in next year and all insurance policies have to meet the ChoomCare requirements. Also the waivers expire.
They'll be coming for the Medicare folks next.
What doctor will want to work for WalMart wages with 50+ hour work weeks? What hospital will accept a pittance for their investment?

I work in IT, and I will vote Democrat if they have the site fixed by Nov 30. It will be a first class tech miracle.
The law could be fixed by repealing it.

In a more honorable time the appology would have been followed by a resignation-like Nixon's!
I work in IT, and I will vote Democrat if they have the site fixed by Nov 30. It will be a first class tech miracle.

"Fixing" the site would result in what? Showing more people faster what a disaster Son of HillaryCare is? Hardly an incentive to "fix" the website.
"Has any politician used the fucking word FOLKS any more than this CHUMP? "
VOLKS.
I work in IT, and I will vote Democrat if they have the site fixed by Nov 30. It will be a first class tech miracle.
You can put lipstick on a pig....
I suspect they'll make some cosmetic changes, and then the allies in the Media will declare things fixed.
All Hail the Messiah who has fixed the portal!
Henry - damn. I just hate it when snark goes wrong. In my defense, Animal House was a long, long time ago.
If you have not received your policy cancellation yet, don't worry, it is in the mail.
Good night and good luck!

"I am sorry that they are finding themselves in this situation based on assurances they got from me."
Is Obama somehow saying that his assurances caused the situation? I think it would make more sense if he said:
