2 years!
The Daily Beast preserved the tweets of Jofi Joseph, AKA natsecwonk, which included crap like:
“I'm a fan of Obama, but his continuing reliance and dependence upon a vacuous cipher like Valerie Jarrett concerns me.”2 years! What does this say about national security?
“Was Huma Abedin wearing beer goggles the night she met Anthony Wiener? Almost as bad a pairing as Samantha Powers and Cass Sunstein ...”
“So when will someone do us the favor of getting rid of Sarah Palin and the rest of her white trash family? What utter useless garbage....”
(I know. It's Samantha Power (not Powers) and Anthony Weiner (not Wiener).)

That it's strictly secondary to the political needs of Team Hyde Park. Or wasn't that 100% apparent after l'affaire Petraeus?

I read this item and the one about Carney and thought of the opening lines of "War of the Worlds." I wonder how our nation's leaders look to alien "intellects vast and cool and unsympathetic," the Rouhanis, the Putins, the Assads...
"No one would have believed in the last years of the nineteenth century that this world was being watched keenly and closely by intelligences greater than man's and yet as mortal as his own; that as men busied themselves about their various concerns they were scrutinised and studied, perhaps almost as narrowly as a man with a microscope might scrutinise the transient creatures that swarm and multiply in a drop of water. With infinite complacency men went to and fro over this globe about their little affairs, serene in their assurance of their empire over matter. It is possible that the infusoria under the microscope do the same. No one gave a thought to the older worlds of space as sources of human danger, or thought of them only to dismiss the idea of life upon them as impossible or improbable. It is curious to recall some of the mental habits of those departed days. At most terrestrial men fancied there might be other men upon Mars, perhaps inferior to themselves and ready to welcome a missionary enterprise. Yet across the gulf of space, minds that are to our minds as ours are to those of the beasts that perish, intellects vast and cool and unsympathetic, regarded this earth with envious eyes, and slowly and surely drew their plans against us. And early in the twentieth century came the great disillusionment."
Holy cow, there's someone in the White House who knows how to use a computer. Let the tech surge commence!
St George,
In "Independence Day" they managed that whole thing in 2 lines of the script:
President Thomas Whitmore: What do you want us to do?
Captured Alien: Die. Die.
Is Jofi a man or a woman? He/she sounds bitchy.

So when will someone do us the favor of getting rid of Sarah Palin and the rest of her white trash family? What utter useless garbage....
That sounds suspiciously like a few people around here in the past few years.
What does he know about Cass Sunstein? I'll bet Prof. Althouse has enough connections who could answer this question for us. Is Sunstein habitually unfaithful, or does he have some even more unsavory, Weiner-esque perversion? Inquiring minds want to know.
Take his salary and multiply by maybe 50,000 more wastes of our tax dollars and we could save what $5 Billion or so? Now that's real money. In fact that is about how much the Repubs want to cut from the annual food stamp program.
"So when will someone do us the favor of getting rid of Sarah Palin and the rest of her white trash family? What utter useless garbage...."
He sounds like a typical far left librul Democrat.
This is a start. First they get rid of personnel who tweet something unflattering about Valerie Jowett. Then, after the dust has settled in a year or two, they investigate and discover who has been selling nuclear arms to the Mexican drug cartel. They might even have time to fire someone for the IRS scandal and those so called dead Americans at Ben Ghazi.
Based on all the posts in Sinhalese on his Facebook page, I think Mr. Joseph's family is from Sri Lanka. He uses Che Guevara as his avatar, and he really likes pictures of cats.
Seems like a solid pick for Obama's National Security Council.
I don't know. Those tweets don't sound like a high priority to me.
Since you've read all of them, I will respect your judgement..
"During his time tweeting under the @natsecwonk name, Joseph openly criticized the policies of his White House bosses and often insulted their intellect and appearance. At different times, he insulted or criticized several top White House and State Department officials, including former National Security Advisor Tom Donilon, Deputy National Security Advisor Ben Rhodes, Secretary of State John Kerry, and many many others."
So he made fun of people. He's the guy at the office who gets caught making stupid posts about his boss on Facebook and is fired. Is the White House enough extra to take this past ordinary?
"2 years! What does this say about national security?"
They are not interested in controlling HIM, just YOU!
See they check YOUR emails, YOUR phone records, YOUR TEXTS messages.
They just never checked HIS!
getting rid of Sarah Palin and the rest of her white trash family?
Anybody else find that language alarmingly violent?
Sounds like a professional asshole. But that describes just about anyone in the White House.
2 years! What does this say about national security?
Ahh, they knew and used him to say things they dared not say.

Those words essentially track the thoughts of a certain blogger also linked to the WH. Taking down the elephant anyone? In some minds it would only be wrong to do so from a helicopter (because of CO2 emissions).
Here's his bio from a page at Princeton. (I'll offer even odds that Princeton will take it down soon.) It turns out he used to work on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee as a staff advisor for Joe Biden.

It isn't any different than anything every lib has been saying for the past dozen years or so.....at least.

Three reactions—
1) Made me wonder how many spies there are in top levels of our government. Unstable people like this guy who are wittingly or unwittingly taken advantage of by foreign powers
2) He's a Biden man. Worked for him from 2001-2004. Must have gotten along well. Maybe same sense of humor.
3) He advised the Under Secretary on a range of multilateral arms control treaties. How reassuring. I'll sleep more soundly tonight.
Looks like he's never had a real job.

I don't think the remark is comparing Sunstein and Weiner's private sexual pecadillos, (although...who knows?). Rather, it's either comparing them as both being insufferable assholes--as Weiner famously is, (I don't know anything about Sunstein's reputation in this regard)--or he's simply astonished at the mismatch between Weiner and Sunstein and their respective spouses. You know, that question we all have when viewing an unlikely pairing:
"WTF did (he)(she) see in (her)(him)?!"

He sounds like a typical far left librul Democrat.
You mean the party of the working people, the party of compassion, kindness and intellect? Those librul Democrats?
Is Sunstein habitually unfaithful, or does he have some even more unsavory, Weiner-esque perversion? Inquiring minds want to know.
I think its perversion that he wants to use government power to nudge (shove) me to make the decisions he thinks I should make. Creepy, creepy man.
"What does this say about national security?"
What it says is that when a "White House national security official" tweets:
“So when will someone do us the favor of getting rid of Sarah Palin and the rest of her white trash family? What utter useless garbage....”
that we have a clear and present danger to the citizenry as a whole. It is WAY beyond unacceptable. Anyone who finds this tweet remotely acceptable or agreeable is, like the tweeter in question, a truly dangerous lunatic.

I don't get your point, exactly, but to answer your question: people who have no business knowing the info they're gathering about us.
We, the people, should have the info revealed by Snowden in order to know that those people are spying on our every move and communication.
