In an emotional, rambling midnight television address, Mursi said he was democratically elected and would stay in office to uphold the constitutional order, declaring: "The price of preserving legitimacy is my life."
Liberal opponents said that showed he had "lost his mind."

It's the Middle East, as people say explaining whatever treachery is at hand.
Liberal opponents said that showed he had "lost his mind."
Were they liberal protesters when they traded Honsi Mubarak for the guy they are currently protesting? If so, what does this say about liberals and unintended consequences?
The Military held Egypt together as an American ally that made peace with Israel. The Muhommeds of the insane religion murdered Sadat for making peace and Mubarack as the head of the Air Force took charge and restrained the murderous SOBs for 30 years.
The Egyptians want peace and food back. Killing every Jew on earth will not make up for losing that good 30 years.
The rabble rouser has been our President Obama and his clique of anti-semite advisers being crafty trouble makers hoping to see a collapse across the middle east from Libya, to Syria, to Turkey, to Lebanon and Egypt so the Jews in Israel can be bluffed into surrendering their sovereignty and then be easily murdered.
The price of preserving legitimacy is my life
in other words, he's about to flee the country dressed like a woman.
Choom is rooting for Morsi.
We can't have another foreign policy failure, can we?
I'm thinking Egypt's Army Comamnder has a 46 cent solution.
"Egypt's army commander and Islamist President Mohamed Mursi each pledged to die for his cause..."
Sounds like a good opportunity for a televised duel.
Liberal opponents said that showed he had "lost his mind."
And THAT implies he's alone. The truth is the people chose wrong, so everyone - Morsi and the Brotherhood included - can afford to be humbled. Instead they engaged in a clusterfuck and now, rubbed raw, are prepping for a do-over. No vaseline this time.
Ask the female reporters covering it,...
Obama has already threatened the Egyptian military with the withdrawal of military aid by the U.S. if the army ousts Morsi.
So the Muslim Brotherhood Nazi Party wishes to remain in power. I wonder when they are going to burn down their Reichstag?
Note how the media moves the word liberal around.
The Egyptians want peace and food back. Killing every Jew on earth will not make up for losing that good 30 years.
That's a good opinion. Yours, or do you think it is theirs?
I always wanted to go to Egypt. Then suddenly flat did not want to go there. The people I talk to who do go there, or did, say in the coffee places, cafes and such where a public t.v. is running, will alway show news items against Israel, how they have it so nice and contrast that with how bad Arabs have it all over the place, if only the Jews would be gone, the television media for one is a steady stream of that, and if you get up and change the channel it would be changed right back because people want it. Insist on the news.
The US should take no position; let them work it out.
But, since we seem to have to take a position, Zero chooses the bad guys.
In a fight to the death, I'll take the Army Commander over Mr Sharia.
May they both get their wish.
So, possibly world or at least region changing events are happening in Egypt. The area is on a razor's edge about to erupt into chaos and war that could spread to other areas of the world which are also the experiencing an extended recession or depression: the worst in our lifetimes. The instability is frightening. People world wide feel hopeless and are justifiably frightened.
Meanwhile, our so called news media ignores the events. Instead we get debates on whether it is worse to call someone nigger or cracker. We debate whether Zimmerman was hurt bad enough to be justified in trying to save his own life. Meanwhile, people in Egypt are rioting and protesting by the HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS. People in the Middle-East are starving. Islamists are slaughtering Christians with impunity.
The Chaos goes on and on and our worthless piece of shit of a President is either agitating the situation on purpose for some unknown reason. (I suspect he does know what he is doing and that his motives are pure evil in the classic sense of eeeeeviiiiil.) Or the dumb schmuck is so far over his pay grade that he is cowering and spinning just trying to preserve his own precious ass and being protected by the leg humping chihuahuas we have as media. Probably both.
We are so screwed.
This guy's name is like so many fucking names in the Middle East. I've seen @ least 4 different spellings.
This is why dueling should never have been outlawed.
So just what is his cause? Let us know before you die, Mr. Morsi.
I realize this comment reflects my sketchy knowledge of Egypt, but I'm not being helped by the American media.
What DBQ said.

But Choom is a foreign policy genius. Just ask him.
But, since we seem to have to take a position, Zero chooses the bad guys.
He always does, doesn't he?
The really sad thing is that no matter who takes over, Egypt may just be screwed. They're running out of cash.
In a country that imports 40% of its food, Egypt may be seeing famine in the near future. At that point, with refugees fleeing every way they can to some other place on the Mediterranean, we may be seeing the largest humanitarian crisis in our lifetimes.
Chip...Hatred of Jews is always there across the board, Coptic and Muslim. But it has an element of fear mixed with respect for a superior group. The Wars in 1948, 1956, 1967, and 1972 were Egyptian defeats, although the 1972 War surprise attack from two sides gave the Egyptian planners great respect for their initial victory before the crushing defeat.
As in Iran, the urban areas in Egypt (which are 20% Coptic) are liberal while the rural tribes are illiterate and ALL they have in life is the god allah to hang onto.
Obama's encouragement of the Muslim rule is a terrible thing to do to these people.
"You say you want a revolution
Well you know
We all want to change the world"
This will not end well.
Well, we can only hope his wish is granted.
He'll be Mohammad Mercy Mercy by the end of the week.
As in Iran, the urban areas in Egypt (which are 20% Coptic) are liberal while the rural tribes are illiterate and ALL they have in life is the god allah to hang onto.
Morsi just needs to have his Obama moment and declare his rule is premised on the "gun and god clingers".
Am I the only one who thought of Men in Black when Morsi said he was willing to die for his cause? I mean the scene where the farmer tells the newly-arrived alien "You can have my gun when you take it from my cold dead hands" and the alien says "Your proposal is acceptable" (splat). I certainly find Morsi's proposal acceptable.
To paraphrase the great man: Let the other son of a bitch die for his cause.
A big issue is that as Americans, and like many people, only rely on the print media or televised "news" shows, we have zero information on what is going on outside, in the rest of the world. Unless you are are on the internet and look at news sites from around the world you have no idea what is happening. We are fed junk news. Distractions.
We are clueless....WORSE than clueless we are being misinformed and lied to.
To look at current "news" shows you wouldn't even know that anything of significance is happening in Egypt, Syria. Or if you do get a glimmer that something might be going on, you have no context, no historical information......nothing.
Our so called news media people should all be strung up and disemboweled for the absolutely horrible job of reporting "news". When the shit hits the fan for REAL, I know who to blame.
Who here doesn't understand that the Muslim Brotherhood is the Nazi Party of today in the middle east. They have a long and storied history with Hitler and the Nazi Party. This is what and who people are supporting in the ME and what Obama is supporting. He knows this and if he doesn't, then it's just another nail in his coffin of incompetence.
The BIG news this morning on Fox and HLN was that it was HOT. Big deal....it is always hot in the summer. Next breaking story.....it is cold in the winter.
Wall to wall Zimmerman, show trial. Crickets on most of the Obama scandals. Obamacare being postponed for businesses until after the next election. Irs. Fast and Furious.
No discussion on the disasterous Obama foreign policy.
Who do you think is going to be eager to step in and pick up the pieces in Egypt when Obama tries to cut off any aid to a new, non Muslim Brotherhood regime? Who you gonna call? Ghost Busters? Russia? China? Putin must be doing a happy dance right now.
What a disaster Obama is and our media is too busy getting thrills up its collective legs over a Black Man in the White House to look at anything objectively. I don't think they can even if they wanted to, since most of the media hacks have been brainwashed by Big Academia.
We are so fucking screwed.
Obama supports the radicals.
A thought:
Morsi was elected.
The United States government should have quickly started to undermine an elected head of state in a muslim country, because he is too beholden to Muslims we do not like?
Perhaps it was better to let the people in the country undermine him, if they choose. This is what they are doing now.
I am no Obama fan, but he is not always wrong. Seems to me that taking a passive role (which means letting the Egyptians take the lead) was not a bad option here. Of course it may not work out well for us or the Egyptians, but an Egyptian popular movement bringing down a radical Muslim government (if that's what it actually was) is better than the United States doing it.
And what of the Egyptian army? We seem to view it as a conservative, restraining force, which indeed it has been for a while. Past events are not guarantees of future results. We will still have to see where the military leads Egypt. Put the wrong man at the head of the army, and it could be worse than Morsi.

Egypt was the breadbasket of the ancient world, and her fecundity continued into modern times, though droughts in central Africa did cause famine from time to time. The Muslim Bros. have done dreadful damage to Egypt’s economy since their rise to power (god knows what they’ve done with Zero’s bribe money, but I can guess) but the food crisis has been building for decades, and is directly attributable to the universal hero of all sides in the current fight, Gamal Abdel Nassar, who was either persuaded by Russian Lysenkoists or persuaded himself that the High Aswan Dam project was a good idea.
May they both lose!
Morsi is an islamist nut job (although the Salafists are even crazier) and the Military control all of the industrial monopolies that keep the economy in such a mess. Both are corrupt and need to be tossed out.
The real problem in Egypt is POPULATION. They are drowning in people with little education, qualified only to do government jobs and with the inability to even grow enough food to feed themselves. Whoever takes over is going to have to address that problem first. Bottom up reform of society and industry.
The "liberal" opposition in Egypt is a joke too - no proposals, no solutions. Just constant demands for "freedom" - which translates as anarchy
I see bad things - the people in power need a scapegoat to play squirrel with the populace. Will it be to persecute the Copts? Invade Libya to get oil and money? Invade Sudan to take farmland?
This is not going to end well
The better democratically elected presidents do not die for their personal honor but compromise for the welfare of their state. Morsi should seek some kind of accommodation with the people who oppose his rule and not make this into some kind of life and death struggle. Morsi was democratically elected, but he doesn't seem to have any democratic instincts or talents.

The problem is Obama is not passive in this struggle. He has supported the Muslim Brotherhood, an historic enemy of the United States and Israel, against Egypt's moderate secularists, and his active support continues through his measures to handcuff the Egyptian Army.
Obama's goal is to blackmail Israel into a position of strategic impotence, to force the Jews to retreat behind indefensible pre-1967 borders, to force them to surrender Jerusalem to their sworn enemies, to cripple the Jewish State militarily and economically to its eventual destruction. That's what our President wants. To get it he chose to empower an enemy on Israel's heretofore least dangerous boundary, hence Mosri.
At least Egypt has an activist Army to rectify the situation when the Executive assumed power it did not have a right to.
Would that something like that was available here.
How sweet would it be to quickly re-do the 2012 Presidential election, with the same or new Republican candidate.
Dust Bunny Queen:
Some people, including some "experts", believe that normal is defined by a single degree. It is difficult for them to grasp the variability of diversity. The concept of diversity is an enigma for them.
It is ironic that even as they strive to reduce diversity, they exploit it to a profitable effect.
David Goldman (Spengler) has been singing from the Egyptian 'failed state' hymnal for a while now.
Note how the media moves the word liberal around.
The word "liberal" doesn't mean "leftist" anywhere but the US. This is Reuters, so I'm assuming they're using the more common definition, which is someone who believes in less government intrusion.

Yes he was, but the Muslim Brotherhood wasn't.
