I mistook the middle of Canada for Alaska.
The worst was I thought I was in Israel when I was in Portugal.

The closest I got was the canadian coastline/nova scotia.

I got 11494 in my first go.
Of course, one of them I knew was Monterey, CA because I could see the Monterey Bay Aquarium sign. Which is one of the best aquariums in the world to visit.
All the others, I got the right continent, and all but one the right country (South American countries blend together for me, apparently)

Another fun and similar game is Locatestreet -- a lot like GeoGuessr, but with the ability to see only Street View images in selected areas.
Great fun! We guessed Iraq for one spot because it looked like the entrance to an airport built by Saddam.
It was Detroit.

Lots of fun thinga you can do with streetviews.
My favorite recent pastime with it has been tied to a new obsession with genealogy....loking at all of the Polish towns of my ancestors.
I also played a "paint this scene" game on an art blog a while back, where a random streetview was chosen for a daily painting.
