I was a crossing guard in grade school. I think I was a lieutenant or a captain or some officer of great authority in the ranks of 10 year old crossing guards. One day while throwing my official badge and belt in the air and catching it, it landed on a roof. Dad had to call the cops to get it down. Got my ass whooped for that. There is always a higher authoritay.
Can't for the life of me figure out why this is a story.
Could it have something to do with the possibility he spent his college days just dribbling and not studying.

Adrian Dantley sort of reminds me of myself. Except, he does it for the kids and I do it for the dogs. And also, he was a first-team All-American 2 years in a row, ranks 2nd in career scoring for Notre Dame, 6 time NBA All-Star, NBA Rookie of the Year, 2 time NBA scoring champ. And I wasn't.
I was awarded the Oscar Robertson Trophy though. Just like Adrian Dantley was. (Lie).
Now A.C. Green is going to have nightmares about crossing guards.
It says $14k year and one hour a day. With a 180 day school year that is $81 dollars an hour plus benefits. Can that possibly be right? That is insane.

"Dantley's real-world job these days, though not as glamorous as his old one, has its benefits. Lots and lots of benefits, actually. Montgomery County officials took a lot of heat after a 2010 story in the Washington Examiner, a D.C. newspaper, reported that crossing guards there were taking in about $41.50 an hour. 'Once considered the best-kept secret among a workforce of 30,000,' the newspaper reported, 'the position has become one of the county's most popular, particularly among those seeking health care coverage for their families.' Guards are part-time employees, and they normally put in one hour a day, but they receive the same insurance and benefits package as full-timers."
Shit. It was a feel-good story until you guys mentioned the pay.

I guess that's what all that American education qualified him to do.
At least he has some drive to do something useful with his time.
I used to hate Dantley and the Detroit Pistons. Sad the read he's actually a nice guy. I just hope Laimbeer isn't training blind guide-dogs in his spare time.
Always liked Joe Dumars though. He seemed like a normal guy on team filled with Egoists, Freaks, thugs, and Grifters.
The Pistons didn't win basketball games, they mugged their opponents.
I think that's really a nice kind of job to have. You're protecting kids. And he's probably pretty tall, so everyone can see him.
I don't earn that kind of money as a crossing guard, and no benefits.But, I enjoy the Wisconsin weather, the children are great and it gets me out of the house twice a day.
Heaven forbid someone want to keep busy. And if the guy is smart enough to take advantage of ridiculous public sector benefits, more power to him. That's why he's not bankrupt like Latrell Sprewell.
