Turns out Hugo and I are/were the same age. I better get started on my Banana Republic Liberator/Impoverisher work. I'm way behind the gold standard this guy set.

No, he took the bronze.
Bongo Bobby Mugabe still holds the silver and the Kims own the gold.
May he be rotting in hell. I'm sure Cook, phx, Bitch Tit Mahal, Bug-eyed retard wino woman, Schtickmo, Fuck-head Frederson, and the rest of the leftard collective are all weeping together as one of their comrades goes into the great commune hot tent in the 9th plane of hell.
Venezuela long ago ceased to be a real democracy: The ruling regime effectively controls the Supreme Court (which in 2004 was expanded and packed with Chávez allies), the National Assembly (which in 2010 granted Chávez the authority to rule by decree for 18 months), and the National Electoral Council (which repeatedly allowed Chávez supporters to violate election laws and rules during the country’s 2012 presidential campaign), not to mention the armed forces and the federal police.
For that matter, Venezuela long ago ceased to be a country with real press freedom or real economic freedom. Besides imposing a series of draconian restrictions on media content, the Chávez government has “blocked critical coverage, closed broadcasters, sued reporters for defamation, excluded those it deems unfriendly from official events, and harassed — with the help of government allies and state-run media — critical journalists,” as the Committee to Protect Journalists detailed in an August 2012 report. It is a regime that seizes not only television and radio stations, but also banks, oil facilities, cement plants, food factories, sugar plantations, and much else.
"Within minutes of the death of death of repressive socialist Hugo Chavez on Tuesday, MSNBC featured ex-Washington Post managing editor Eugene Robinson to fawn over the "quick," "popular" leader. Though Robinson allowed that "freedom of speech suffered greatly" under Chavez, he praised, "He provided medical attention that the poor of Venezuela hadn't received before, and, and, frankly, it was the first time in many decades that a leader had paid that kind of attention to the poor majority in Venezuela.""
"With a nostalgic grin on his face, Robinson told guest Hardball host Michael Smerconish about the time he met the "quick-witted" anti-American. "He came to the Washington Post and there were several of us waiting to greet him," the liberal journalist giddily recounted. Robinson continued, "I didn't know if he spoke English at the time, so I introduced myself to him in Spanish when he got to me in the line, and he shook my hand and looked up at me and kind of grinned and said, 'hello, my name is Hu.'"
[OMG!!! That's so funnnay! So quick-witted! So Anti-American! Whoooo!]
What exactly would the American left disagree with Chavez on? Sure he ran roughshod over the press, but only the ones who didn't kiss his ass. Our media would be fine with that too, as long it was just FOX and talk radio. They have already tried it.
Today he finally became a good communist and on the anniversary of Stalin's assumption of goodness. Good news indeed. Lets hope quite a number of communist become good communists this year.
Though Robinson allowed that "freedom of speech suffered greatly" under Chavez, he praised, "He provided medical attention that the poor of Venezuela hadn't received before, and, and, frankly, it was the first time in many decades that a leader had paid that kind of attention to the poor majority in Venezuela."
This is no surprise. Freedom and personal liberty are always the first casualties in the so called efforts to help the 'poor'. Thugs like Chavez have no real interest in improving the lives of the poor but to simply provide the illusion of care so they can maintain a steady base of support.
Pretty much what Democrats have done here. Despite our so called war on poverty, we managed to create a huge permanent dependent constituency for the Democrat party bought and paid for by the productive class.
I think the prolonged and tumultuous rule of Chavez ended with him being herded into a volcanic caldera, though I have a dull mental memory that, in the course of his time in power, my socks kept climbing like two damp snakes around my ankles and intermittent beads of sweat raced cool across my back.
I was wondering - shouldn't Fidel be dead by now? What's taking so long? Or is he already dead? Somehow I think he may be dead. The celebrations would be such an embarrassment to the memory of that corrupt communist dictator for life.
In our country, our media ... it isn't that bad, (yet) but we are getting there. Certainly most of the media are bullied, and the rest provide dishonest biased one-sided reportage for free.
Yews, I watched that sickening display on MSNBC today also (know your enemy)and thought (among other unprintable things): "...not only how sickening, but how utterly, utterly, typical and sadly predictible."

Unfortunately Castro's parents both lived to be 100. If I am not mistaken he still has older living siblings. Poor Cuba.
The world is well rid of a nasty power mad tyrant who only stole 2 billion dollars in his 10 year run.
Meanwhile this morning in Atlanta a Marine Corps F-18 did a low level fly-by over the All Saints Episcopal Church downtown at 11:00 AM to honor the 11:00 AM funeral of Col. Wm. Leroy Bates who won Silver and bronze stars at Iwo Jima and at Inchon and the Chosin Reservoir in Korea where he served as a Company Commander in the 1st Battalion, 1st Marines.
That was a real man. Chavez, like Obama, are bad actors playing in a bad grade B Marxist soap opera.
Chavez subsidized home heating oil to our poorest citizens, as Obama & Congress decided a year ago to cut 25% from the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program.
Just hope the successor in Venezuela will keep this vital program going.
God bless the colonel. I had a patient years ago who was a Marine officer at Chosin. He had esophageal cancer and said that was not the worst thing he'd faced.
"Chavez subsidized home heating oil to our poorest citizens, as Obama & Congress decided a year ago to cut 25% from the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program. Just hope the successor in Venezuela will keep this vital program going."
Maybe he can fund it out of Chavez's $2 billion fortune! The Hugo Chavez Memorial Low Income Home Energy Assistance Fund. Because there comes a point when you've stolen enough money.
Deb (5:45) and edutcher (6:41) are both wrong. It wasn't his maker Chavez was meeting with that look on his face: it was his new master Moloch. Hint: Moloch is behind him, and Chavez didn't realize he was there until just that moment, when it became all too clear.
Garage calls in the libtard response! Perfect! Folks, never forget this moment. Garage would have said the same thing when Stalin died.
Chavez gave a Kennedy some oil, and everything's ok. Dictatorships are great! As long as RFKjr puts his stamp of approval on it. As long as New Englanders get free heating oil, it's all good!
As long as as Georgians get slave labor from West Africa, then that gold rice is just peachy keen!
The announcement of Chavez's death came hours after Maduro met with the country's top political and military leaders about Chavez's worsening health condition and suggested someone may have deliberately infected Chavez with cancer.
So what if he was a despot whose enemies had a habit of disappearing?
Who cares if he turned his nation into an economic basket case while sowing instability in the region?
What difference does it make that he was allies with Syria, Lybia, Iran, and North Korea?
The man gave money his nation didn't have to people in another nation in a ploy clearly designed to buy support from a politician who owed his career to nepotism. Doesn't that outweigh everything else?
Christopher: "The man gave money his nation didn't have to people in another nation in a ploy clearly designed to buy support from a politician who owed his career to nepotism"
garage and his left pals looooove them some money-hoarding commie thugs.
Always have.
Always will.
But remember, they insist you behave in a "civil" manner....
phx said... suggested someone may have deliberately infected Chavez with cancer.
You don't think that's possible?
3/5/13, 7:43 PM
Only if you think Chavez was the long time passive partner in anal sex ( and a hard drug abuser) with someone with full blown AIDS and that person knowingly infected him with AIDS along with a number of other STDs. If you think that then yes he may have been infected in a round about way with cancer.
@garage - Venezuela's poorest citizens subsidized home heating oil to our poorest citizens, as Obama & Congress decided a year ago to cut 25% from the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program.
Only if you think Chavez was the long time passive partner in anal sex ( and a hard drug abuser) with someone with full blown AIDS and that person knowingly infected him with AIDS along with a number of other STDs.
LOL. I know about that stuff, I just don't understand why you two bottomfeeders are talking about that to me.
You surmised it was possible to "infect" one with cancer. They elaborated on one of the few, if possible, ways to ultimately "infect" someone with cancer.
@garage - Venezuela's poorest citizens subsidized home heating oil to our poorest citizens, as Obama & Congress decided a year ago to cut 25% from the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program
That's crazy. Oil welfare queens like Chavez and Palin are one in the same. Provide for the Common Good!
Like it or not Chavez did stamp out a lot of poverty. That's a Good Thing!
And I can't remember any Venezuelans flying planes into buildings like our Saudi partners.
What I was looking for was a defense of the idea from someone reasonably not stupid that it isn't really possible that Chavez was deliberately given cancer.
So, it's either cancer or an American senator saying: Cut now and cut clean" as is the case with Senator Lugar to Pres. Marcos of the Philippiness in his regime's dying days when people power showed that the power of a government rested in the people.
When I was in the university in the late 1970's, student activists always stressed the fact that the U.S. intervened and interfered too much in other nations internal affairs to the point of propping up dictators like Marcos.
It's fun to track the Hugo-Barry bromance. The love! The affection. This was not your Stalin/Hitler non-aggression pact. It was more like puppy love on parade. It was Chabama!
But what happened? Chavez got bloated and fat. Kinda like Liz Taylor. And Obama--who always cut a svelte, chicken leg figure himself--lost interest. But not before Chavez let loose a volley of spite. "You are a clown," he said. "Focus on governing your country, which you've turned into a disaster." Ouch!
On his death, Obama said this about his fallen comrade. "At this challenging time of President Hugo Chavez’s passing, the United States reaffirms its support for the Venezuelan people and its interest in developing a constructive relationship with the Venezuelan government. As Venezuela begins a new chapter in its history, the United States remains committed to policies that promote democratic principles, the rule of law, and respect for human rights."
Wow. He skipped over you, in your own eulogy. Now that's just cold. From fist-bumping, hand-jiving buddies to the diplomatic bitch slap. At least if he called you a tyrant or a dictator, you would know there was some feeling! But when they don't talk about you at all, that's the worst.
He's talking about Kaposi's Sarcoma, what eventually kills most AIDS patients.
It used to be know among homosexuals as "The Gay Cancer".
LOL. I know about that stuff, I just don't understand why you two bottomfeeders are talking about that to me.
Lessee, here's the direct quote

Hating is a Lefty thing, Ritmo.
You're projecting again.
Please describe for me your feelings about Barack Obama.
Also, I'd love to hear about how you felt about Bill and Hillary Clinton back in the 1990s.
If you have to be profane, I'll understand.
Profanity is also a Lefty thing, you guys seem incapable of assessing anything with the use of four letter words. That, I guess, goes along with substituting feelings for reason.
As for Choom and Willie, both are incredibly corrupt party hacks who couldn't succeed without a complicit media.
They are also incredibly incompetent, as the state in which Willie left this country attests, as well as the ongoing Depression Choom can't seem to resolve with that fabulous Ivy League intellect of his. The only reason either of them got as far as they did is because they sold themselves to powerful patrons whose bidding they did.
As for the Hildabeast, she would be a minor English professor someplace if she hadn't hitched her wagon to Willie's star.
No, feelings, no profanity, no snark, just calm, reasoned analysis.
What I was looking for was a defense of the idea from someone reasonably not stupid that it isn't really possible that Chavez was deliberately given cancer.
But okay. I guess we can do goofy talk, too.
Like the idea of deliberately giving someone cancer isn't "goofy talk"?

Oh yeah. That was a regular Socratic dialogue. No rhetoric, demagoguery, emoting, hyperbole or nothing. And the total re-writing of presidential history was about as sound an analysis as they come.
Any chance that Karl Rove is looking to hire someone like you?
Obama is such a competent, hands-on executive that there's no possibility that the USA would have some kind of super secret program aimed at assasinating world leaders. And we all know that if there were, Bibi would have croaked a long time before Chavez......I think it's true that many of the people of Venezuela will truly mourn his death. A lot of these people don't have indoor plumbing and are probably not 100% behind his program of giving oil to Cuba and Kennedy constituents, but they will, nonetheless, mourn his death. And that's why they'll probably get another Chavez.
Because cancer is not a contagious disease, dude. You can't just whip up some cancer powder, put it in an envelope and mail it to Uncle Hugo. Cancer doesn't work that way.
"No rhetoric, demagoguery, emoting, hyperbole or nothing. And the total re-writing of presidential history was about as sound an analysis as they come."
Obviously, Ritmo is so used to trying to shout down anybody whose opinion he doesn't like, he can't tell opinion when he sees it.
He also can't rebut facts.
And, as for rewriting history, it's pretty clear who swept DotCom, Enron, and the housing mess under the rug for the next guy in line.
If Albert the Living Redwood had won, Ritmo would be telling us how the crash in '08 was McCain's fault.
Obama is such a competent, hands-on executive that there's no possibility that the USA would have some kind of super secret program aimed at assasinating world leaders.
Him and that other beautiful person, JFK.

No, but there are such things as carcinogens which can create cancer in an otherwise healthy organism.
And, if Hugo had been infected with AIDS through sex or a dirty needle, the resulting infection would have killed him.
And, since Kaposi's Sarcoma is a major cause of death among AIDS-infected homosexuals, if he was big into anal sex, it could be said he was given cancer.
Jay said... Obama is probably off having a good cry somewhere...
============ LOL. On the other hand, while Chavez was just a thug and will not have much of a legacy, Fidel Castro will.
He will not be remembered fondly for his bloodletting or dead end Stalinism....but by many nations and many peoples for being the 1st to stand up to too heavy an American imperialist thumb over Latin American economies...and show it could be done.
Castro was a consequential, bigtime historical figure - much as the older "exiles" and right wing Republicans wish he was not.
Critics say his actions have damaged economic performance and encouraged inflation, running at 25% by the end of 2009. In January 2010, the government devalued the bolivar in an attempt to boost oil revenues and simulate domestic production.
...because in bizarro world, inflation and currency devaluation always alleviate poverty.
...while the Soviet Union's defense guarantees were worth their weight in subsidies for Cuba's failing economy.
After they weren't, Cuba, like its fraternal socialist brethren in Eastern Europe, was shown for what it has been all along -- just another fucked-up poor country.
And, as for rewriting history, it's pretty clear who swept DotCom, Enron, and the housing mess under the rug for the next guy in line.
Well, one thing you can say about Eddie (not Haskell). When he finally gets around to trying for facts, he sure as shit can't tell the difference between those things and opinions.
Let's give him the recognition he deserves for being the first person to blame "DotCom" (but not the tech boom that created gains much more durable than the incomparably minor recession that followed) on Clinton, along with Enron.
And let's also give him credit for taking the novel approach of believing that W. couldn't do anything in eight long years to stop the incomparably bigger housing mess.
Yep. No need to shut that down. When Ed's mouth spouts such garbage and sewage of thought as that, it's best to let him go on. You never interrupt your enemy as he lays the groundwork for his own destruction.
When I was working in Saudi Arabia, the Venezuelans became the largest expat community - oil engineers fleeing Chavez's paradise. They hated him for wrecking the industry there and putting his cronies into the jobs. The oil production there has been on a steady decline.
Another friend used to tell me stories about how much Chavez purchased in luxury goods (liquor, cigars) to keep the military there happy. All in cash too.
News reports are saying that the Chavez family has amassed a $2 billion fortune. Wise investments, I guess.
The only people really crying over this are the Cubans - their source of cut rate oil is about to vanish, and I bet a lot of the medical teams they sent will never go back if they sense that Venezuela will flip back to normal.
I wouldn't second-guess the seriousness of Iran's weapons program, but any government that choreographs their unleashing of the atom thusly you've got to have some doubts about.
Chavez only stole 2 billion? What a lightweight! Venezuela has the largest oil reserves in the world and thats all that he was able to steal? Castro has stolen more than that from a country that no substantial natural resources worth speaking off.
Chavez was pretty amazing, at a time of rising oil prices he managed to screw up Venezuela's oil production and thus getting less revenue than before.
That is real genius. The only people who are going to mourn him in Venezuela are the lowlives who on their own are incapable of rising to any position in life, those that he put in charge of the state oil company and in the civil service. They are scarred that without Chavez its back to slums for them.
PHX if you really want to give someone cancer and in a relatively short time, lace their food with highly radioactive material. A known Russian technique. Somehow the CIA just doesn't seem competent enough to pull that off especially on a guy like Chavez who had very, very good security.
Furios just had a conversation with a Venezuelan customer on Sunday. The exchange rate on the parallel market went from 12 to 26 since December making imports almost impossible and thus making it really hard on the people since Venezuela hardly produces anything anymore. Only a communist can muck up an oil boom.
What I was looking for was a defense of the idea from someone reasonably not stupid that it isn't really possible that Chavez was deliberately given cancer.
Read my Slate link (right-wing echo chamber that it is) or shut up.
PHX if you really want to give someone cancer and in a relatively short time, lace their food with highly radioactive material. A known Russian technique.
What the Russians (allegedly) do with polonium is kill you by radiation poisoning, not give you cancer. Using cancer to assassinate people doesn't really make any sense, it takes too long to kill. There are a lot of biological agents that are more effective if you want to murder someone.
Europe had a hot summer after Brezshnev died. They said it was from the gates of hell opening for him. I expect a hot summer in South America. 3/5/13, 7:14 PM
When I heard the news this afternoon after a bout of snow shoveling I went to tell my husband that Chavez was dead. Rest in peace while roasting in hell. He said Satan's picking out a pineapple...
And, as for rewriting history, it's pretty clear who swept DotCom, Enron, and the housing mess under the rug for the next guy in line.

Ritmo may be the last Lefty to hear that Willie and Bobby Rubin knew Enron was coming and did everything they could to hush up the deals they'd made.
As for the mess that was DotBomb, as it's known to techies (Ritmo again betrays his ignorance), read about it here.
And let's also give him credit for taking the novel approach of believing that W. couldn't do anything in eight long years to stop the incomparably bigger housing mess.
Ah, but he did. The attempts he made to get it out of committee are well-known and well-documented.
As for the people responsible, Ritmo can have someone read it to him, here, here, and here.
Yep. No need to shut that down. When Ed's mouth spouts such garbage and sewage of thought as that, it's best to let him go on. You never interrupt your enemy as he lays the groundwork for his own destruction.
Again, Ritmo projects.
Take a long, hard look at the facts laid out in the articles to which I linked, as opposed to Ritmo, who has nothing but Lefty bombast to back him up.
Although responsible for many ills, to me Hugo Chaves represented a distortion in the Force as it related to the global chocolate market, and that is pretty much all. So here is my memorial to Hugo Chavez, or rather to the market, now that the distortion is gone.
There is much to said about Venezuelan chocolate. It is unique. And now he's dead and can no longer be blamed for chocolate market distortion.
You guys are so mean. It's not nice to speak ill of the dead. I prefer to remember Chavez for his positive qualities: he could have been worse, and he could have lived longer.
Chavez also tormented Colombia, harboring and supplying FARC, keeping the Narco and kidnapping rackets going after Colombia bled itself white putting down the Medellin and Cali cartels.
I find elation,at someone's suffering (esp. from cancer) and death unseemly, but there's a certain Bolivarian symmetrical justice between Hugo's death at he hands of incompetent Cuban oncologists and Che's death in a ditch at the hands of Bolivian peasant militiamen. Vaya con Dios!
The BBC just ran a report which showed Chavez as a dancing, singing, laughing leader. It wrapped up by giving both sides of the story- some Venezualans have tears in their eyes while others....say they feel they've lost their father.
Ritmo, seriously you just look stupid when you try to change the subject from what you brought up. Edutcher just handed you your ass. I have made these points to rebut your idiocy on other threads.
The 2008 crash was created by Clinton policies. Bush tried to reform Fannie/Freddy and was stopped by Dems including the current president in committee. All of this is well documented.
Enron was caused in large part by accounting deregulation passed by Clinton. Also well documented. But to clean it up they tried to blame Bush. If you want to blame Bush for growing government and adding a huge new subsidy to old rich people payed for by poor young people I am right there with you. But Eneon is all Clinton, And Clinton did it for the same reasons politicians always do it.
The list of things the government has screwed up because someone wanted to help is nearly endless. But in order to maintain your paradigm you have to rewrite history. In the end you are getting screwed by these people you lie for. You are really kinda pathetic.
Achilles, to back up what you are saying, it is notable that the great online magazine City Journal had an article in the year *2000* (yes 2 - oh - oh - oh) predicting the financial meltdown as a result of the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) that was passed under Carter but mostly was dormant until brought to life under Clinton:
The leftist media has decided to whitewash the nastiness of the Hugo Chavez regime, but this should make Sean Penn happy.
In this case, I am going with the media's celebration of Chavez's greatness since he was one of the few foreigners who was deliberately nasty to Obama.
Chavez revolution became internationally famed for its belligerent anti-Americanism. Even USA President Obama, who outstretched a hand of friendship on several occasions, was consistently rejected and addressed with the derogatory racial slur, “Negrito of the White House.”
"Same date for Stalin's death in 1953 and Chavez's today. Obviously not similar scale at all, but safe to call March 5 a good day for people who prize freedom and a bad day for dictators. A pity the great composer Sergei Prokofiev died on the same day as Stalin; he deserved to have more attention paid to his legacy." Garri Kasparov
Some residents arrange their calendars around the once-a-week deliveries made to government-subsidized stores like this one, lining up before dawn to buy a single frozen chicken before the stock runs out. Or a couple of bags of flour. Or a bottle of cooking oil.
[..]
Asked where a shopper could get milk on a day when that, too, was out of stock, a manager said with sarcasm, “At Chávez’s house.”
That's ok, because the poor have a lower opportunity cost for time than do rich people.
Even USA President Obama, who outstretched a hand of friendship on several occasions, was consistently rejected and addressed with the derogatory racial slur, “Negrito of the White House.”
I doubt very much that Obama, a committed centrist and lackey of the American empire, "outstretched a hand of friendship on several occasions" to Chavez, any more than he has to Castro.
Robert Cook: I doubt very much that "Obama,, a committed centrist and lackey of the American empire, outstretched a hand of friendship on several occasions" to Chavez
Robert Cooke calls Obama a centrist. Would he call Chavez a capitalist because he's a billionaire? Robert needs to account for the fact that committed socialists can often be complete hypocrites. It doesn't change their focus or how you would describe their ideology. It just means they are liars.
Because cancer is not a contagious disease, dude. You can't just whip up some cancer powder, put it in an envelope and mail it to Uncle Hugo. Cancer doesn't work that way.
isn't that how the CIA created aids and passed it on to the black and gay communities to wipe them out?
Pictures of Obama and Hillary Clinton (another staunch centrist and supporter of empire) engaging in social pleasantries with Chavez at what was obviously some kind of gathering of state leaders is hardly proof Obama had tried to formally extend America's friendship to Chavez.
Not that I think that would have been a bad thing, necessarily. The whole point of having a United Nations is to gather leaders and representatives of nations together, some friendly to one another, many antagonistic, to engage each other and come to terms non-violently and non-militarily in order to avoid violent military engagements.
The reason we don't engage Cuba or Venezuela is not because we deem their leaders to be bad men and tyrants--heck, we are and have been friends with lots of bad men and tyrants, and we really don't care about bad men and tyrants or the evil the do, our self-flattering rhetoric aside--but because they are not inclined to take orders from us.
Ah what a wonderful thread. Let me add my congratulations to little Hugo on his new position in hell. I wonder how much sulfer he smells now?
Color me completely unsurprised that Bitchtits Mahal is sad that a leftist dictator is dead. I hope you go to Cuba for all your obesity related health issues, fatboy, with similar results.
Also, can't let it pass that Phx thinks that cancer is a communicable disease. Despite my several advanced educational degrees, I do not possess the words to adequately express the depths of stupidity which you have achieved. If it were possible to do so on a blog post, I would start a slow clap.
May all who share in Chavez's tyranical desires meet the same fat. Death to leftists, whatever country they are afflicting.
Oh, and let me not forget Cooktard. Your butt buddy has shook lose the mortal coil. Let me attempt to properly express my feelings to you in your time off loss.
To quote Eric Cartman in the brilliant South Park episode "Scott Tenorman Must Die"
Yes! Yesss! Oh, let me taste your tears, Cooktard!
"Robert Cooke calls Obama a centrist. Would he call Chavez a capitalist because he's a billionaire?"
That's a non-sequitur.
In any case, I'm being "liberal," (if you will) by calling Obama a centrist. I honestly don't know if he even has any actual political convictions other than the attainment of power for himself.
However, he is a "centrist," at least nominally, in comparison with many in the Republican party who appear to be sons of the John Birch Society. Political labels aside, Obama is a servant of the American financial and power elites, and he carries forth the same agenda of increasing American dominance abroad and further enriching the already wealthy--at the expense of the non-wealthy--as did his predecessors.
“Wherever there is a jackboot stomping on a human face there will be a well-heeled Western liberal to explain that the face does, after all, enjoy free health care and 100 percent literacy.” ― John Derbyshire
Jesus Cooktard, I actually cited exactly where I took that quote from.
I get that you are a humorless braindead leftist, but you beclown yourself by injecting eroticism.
I was being glib when saying that Chavez was your butt buddy, but if explicitly cited South Park references bring to mind eroticism to you, I would wager that you are no stranger to balls on your chin.
If you can't get a modern cultural reference due to your commie wannabe bubble or just advanced age, tis not my problem.
Here is another quote that I'm sure you are familiar with, my advice to you is "Die quickly."
"Here is another quote that I'm sure you are familiar with, my advice to you is 'Die quickly.'"
A bit touchy, Mr. Mommy Jeans? In any case, I'm not familiar with that quote, at least, not as directed at me. Unlike you,I'm sure, I am well-liked by all who know me. (I mean, what's not to like?)
Yes, that was Grayson's accurate and succinct description of the attitude of the Republicans in Congress toward those without insurance, (none of whom are they, of course). He was overly generous in not including the majority of his fellow Democrats as among those who had no better plan for the uninsured and under insured than this. I mean, "Obamneycare?" It's a gift to the insurance companies and a boot in the ass to those who need affordable and efficacious health insurance.
I see Mr. Cook doesn't see anything out of the ordinary with a supposed 'man of the poor' attaining billionaire status while simultaneously downgrading his own country's economy.
Ironically Chavez for all intents and purposes is in the same league as the Wall Street fat cats that Mr. Cook firmly believes are all criminals yet is admired because he wraps himself in a socialist flag and expresses his hate for America.
For all of Mr. Cook's degradations of American politicians, none have ever left office and attained billionaire status yet, those socialist crusaders like Chavez and Castro certainly seem to have no problem securing disgusting wealth while their subjects feign gratitude for the scraps of their dinner table.
Let's give him the recognition he deserves for being the first person to blame "DotCom" (but not the tech boom that created gains much more durable than the incomparably minor recession that followed) on Clinton, along with Enron.

Hey stupid shit:
The overwhelming majority of financial crimes committed by Enron took place while Clinton was President.
Enron gave the biggest donation at the time to the DNC in 1996.
Your ignorance is hilarious to watch.
PS: Bush first proposed reforming Fannie Mae in 1993.
I guess in your pea brain the President changes laws with the wave of his hand.
And let's also give him credit for taking the novel approach of believing that W. couldn't do anything in eight long years to stop the incomparably bigger housing mess
Hey genius, why don't you tell us, specifically, what Bush was supposed to do to reform OFHEO and how he could do it by himself?
Col. Angus, Have indicated that I have any particular positive feelings toward Mr. Chavez?
To be honest, I don't know enough about him that I can know to be factual to warrant venturing an opinion. Castigating other heads of state or other governments is irrelevant, except insofar as we are involved with them in cooperative endeavors. We need to be concerned with the failings of our government.
This is what affects my life and yours, not Hugo Chavez. Of course, we are encouraged to hate such figures as Chavez (and Castro) in order that we do not look too closely at our own gangster government, or regard it at best with a distorted view such that we cannot focus on the naked reality: the fix is in and we're the marks.
Robert you refer to our gangster government yet simultaneously advocate for greater and bigger government. A large, benevolent government is an oxymiron. The larger it is, by its very nature it will take advantage of one side over another. The more power it has, the more it will seek, that's just the nature of a body of people who get to make the rules.
Forgive me for saying so, but you have a very childlike view of a huge government that provides cradle to grave benefits but doesn't dictate. Sorry but that doesn't exist. If you truly cherish freedom and liberty, the less government the better.
"Robert you refer to our gangster government yet simultaneously advocate for greater and bigger government. A large, benevolent government is an oxymiron."
I don't assume we'll ever have a "benevolent" government. What I advocate for is a government that is answerable to the people and to the laws of the land, a government envisioned in our founding documents.
We have a big and powerful government, an inevitability given our country's geographic boundaries, and made truly manifest by our being an unscathed victor of WWII. Until we collapse on our own--which will happen--there is no going back to a "smaller" or "less powerful" government. The best we might hope for is to make that powerful government more responsive and answerable to the people.
Honestly, I don't think we'll ever achieve it, and I take as a given that we will meet the fate of Rome and all other fallen empires...a crumbling into corruption and tyranny and then oblivion. We're already corrupt, and we're at least halfway toward tyranny, if not virtually there, so all that remains is the collapse.
But it is responsive to the people Robert. The people have asked for and have been receiving ever larger portions of government largesee. Take a hard look at the Federal budget and look and see how much of the $3.6 trillion being spent is going toward entitlement spending. If we collapse, it will be because we are trying to pay for everything for everyone.
As for tyranny, perhaps you should visit some real tyrannys to get a taste of what its like to live under the boot.
"But it is responsive to the people Robert. The people have asked for and have been receiving ever larger portions of government largesee. Take a hard look at the Federal budget and look and see how much of the $3.6 trillion being spent is going toward entitlement spending. No, our current government is not responsive to or in service to we, the people. If you think so you have been badly fooled. It is in service entirely to to those who pour money into Washington: the financial elites, big corporations, Wall Street, the banks, etc.
Not all tyrannies look like a Hollywood version of same, or are exact mirrors of 1984.
Given that we house more people in our prisons than any other nation on earth, I'd say there's something scarily authoritarian going on. Given the harsh sentencing guidelines (such as "three strikes you're out" laws) from which judges in many cases may not diverge, where minor or first time crimes may result in cruelly long sentences, I'd say there is something frighteningly authoritarian going on. Given that our president has claimed his commander in chief powers give him authority to detain, imprison for indefinite terms, or kill anyone on earth, including American citizens in America, without due process and on his say-so alone--and given that he's acted on this self-proclaimed unconstitutional power--I'd say there's something fucking tyrannical going on.
The list of things the government has screwed up because someone wanted to help is nearly endless. But in order to maintain your paradigm you have to rewrite history. In the end you are getting screwed by these people you lie for. You are really kinda pathetic.
It's hard to compete for pathetic with someone who's banging away on the internet at 3 AM.
But I do appreciate your searing memory of the big economic nothing known as Enron - which was still not brought up by or cared much about by me. And I also appreciate your reminding me that in eight years Bush couldn't lead well enough to convince anyone to do anything about this impending disaster. It's good to know that Republicans supposedly know so much about all the big, bad things that are gonna happen, and yet, can't convince anyone in government to do anything about them. No wonder he, in his oh-so-unsophisticated way, dubbed himself "the decider". He sure as shit wasn't a "convincer" of anything to anyone. Nor could he have been "the persuader". Some leadership there.
With an explanation that pathetic, no wonder you have to berate the concept of helpfulness. It takes a real stretch to believe that Bush wanted to help anyone with anything. Much easier to believe that he deliberately wanted to harm the country or was just too incompetent to do anything useful whatsoever.

Obama's mentor in economy destruction.
Turns out Hugo and I are/were the same age. I better get started on my Banana Republic Liberator/Impoverisher work. I'm way behind the gold standard this guy set.
On the other hand, I'm alive.
Anyone else notice that his wives got blonder as he got more powerful?
Obama is probably off having a good cry somewhere...
Also, just for kicks, this is the anniversary of Uncle Joe's death. Stalin, not McCarthy.
Have to start the lottery on Fidel.
But who will be #3?

No, he took the bronze.
Bongo Bobby Mugabe still holds the silver and the Kims own the gold.
What's the Spanish word for "schadenfreude?"
Chavez to Obama: I'd vote for you and you for me.
That's on the record by the way.
Satan to Hugo-A-Go-Go:
"Nationalize this"
Well, something good happened today.
The fawning over him in the mainstream media obituaries is disgusting. Drudge's candor is a breath of fresh air.
I hope that was Chavez's expression when he met his maker: Oopsie!
Irreverance? More like Karma.
Irreverance? More like Karma.
Just waiting for the resident leftist to come out of the woodwork to condemn us for speaking ill of the dead.
Well, fuck 'em.
When they manage to get that dictator muthafucka in his grave, I'll leave some time to metaphorically piss on it.
And amen for Drudge's candor.
Hugo Chavez was a communist thug.
Sadly, to many democrats, that sounds good.
The Chávez administration has used an array of legislation, threats, and regulatory measures to gradually break down Venezuela’s independent press while building up a state media empire—
hmmm.
In our country, our media
Chavez underwear climbed all the way to his neck.

It's always a good day when a Commie despot dies.
The world is a better place with another leftist dead.
The WAPO reaction just shows that they like them some Commie dicators suppressing Civil Rights as long as there's free shit for them.
Idiots.
Stupid useful idiots, the lot of them.
Today he finally became a good communist and on the anniversary of Stalin's assumption of goodness. Good news indeed. Lets hope quite a number of communist become good communists this year.
Chavez - man of the people.
Take back your Peron, ay,
your Chavez ay,
your Castro, ayyiyi
South America, take it away
Am I a swell writer, or what!
I was wondering - shouldn't Fidel be dead by now? What's taking so long?
Or is he already dead? Somehow I think he may be dead. The celebrations would be such an embarrassment to the memory of that corrupt communist dictator for life.
I didn't finish my thought above...
In our country, our media ... it isn't that bad, (yet) but we are getting there. Certainly most of the media are bullied, and the rest provide dishonest biased one-sided reportage for free.
Sean Penn & Oliver weep.
I dance.
Wait, I thought Cuba had fantastic health care, how could this be?
One dead and gone, but not to worry, you communist bastards, there still is one in the white house and others being born everyday.
Hell needs a new PA announcer...
@Amartel/

Poor Cuba.
One dead and gone, but not to worry, you communist bastards, there still is one in the white house and others being born everyday.
They may not have a strategy but the right-wing is a hoot!
What did Arafat, Castro, and Chavez all have in common? They were billionaires.
Carter's message to Obama:
"Call me if you need to talk.."
What, if anything, does this have to do with Caylie Smithington murder trial?
Yes RLLY
Chavez, like Obama, are bad actors playing in a bad grade B Marxist soap opera.
I vehemently disagree, you Rethuglican winger!
They are both good actors playing in a good grade A Marxist soap opera. (Hawk a loogie here).
Here's hoping what comes next is better.
Chavez subsidized home heating oil to our poorest citizens, as Obama & Congress decided a year ago to cut 25% from the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program.
Just hope the successor in Venezuela will keep this vital program going.
We're already 16 trillion dollars in debt!
Europe had a hot summer after Brezshnev died. They said it was from the gates of hell opening for him. I expect a hot summer in South America.
Suicide watch for Danny Glover.
"the 11:00 AM funeral of Col. Wm. Leroy Bates "
God bless the colonel. I had a patient years ago who was a Marine officer at Chosin. He had esophageal cancer and said that was not the worst thing he'd faced.
Thus ever to tyrants.

First he had to do the interview with St Peter
THEN he met his new master.
ROFLMAO!
El stupid continues.
Maybe the supposed global warming is because so many liberals are going to hell, if so, its worth it.
suggested someone may have deliberately infected Chavez with cancer.
You don't think that's possible?
So what if he was a despot whose enemies had a habit of disappearing?
Who cares if he turned his nation into an economic basket case while sowing instability in the region?
What difference does it make that he was allies with Syria, Lybia, Iran, and North Korea?
The man gave money his nation didn't have to people in another nation in a ploy clearly designed to buy support from a politician who owed his career to nepotism. Doesn't that outweigh everything else?
phx: "You don't think that's possible?"

Only if you think Chavez was the long time passive partner in anal sex ( and a hard drug abuser) with someone with full blown AIDS and that person knowingly infected him with AIDS along with a number of other STDs. If you think that then yes he may have been infected in a round about way with cancer.

WTFRU talking about?
Anybody know the lyrics of "When You're Hot, You're Hot" in Spanish?
He's talking about Kaposi's Sarcoma, what eventually kills most AIDS patients.
It used to be know among homosexuals as "The Gay Cancer".
I just want to say to Robert Cook that I am sorry for your loss.
I want to be happy about this news but I'm sad because it means the right-wingers will have one less person to hate.
Hating is a Lefty thing, Ritmo.

But, but, but, but Donald Trump has so much credibility!
And it's all about just asking the right questions!
What I was looking for was a defense of the idea from someone reasonably not stupid that it isn't really possible that Chavez was deliberately given cancer.
But okay. I guess we can do goofy talk, too.
Irreverence well deserved.

Oh yeah. That was a regular Socratic dialogue. No rhetoric, demagoguery, emoting, hyperbole or nothing. And the total re-writing of presidential history was about as sound an analysis as they come.
Any chance that Karl Rove is looking to hire someone like you?
Like the idea of deliberately giving someone cancer isn't "goofy talk"?
Okay, take it a step further. Now why is that goofy?
Oh fuck, neva mine.
GM,
Why do I get the feeling that you believe Kim Jong Il was born on a magic mountain?
But hey, if a state controlled press claims it happened it must have happened.
Anyway Chavez was apparently worth $2 billion at the time of his death.
It really is amazing how much money communists make. Why it's almost as if they're merely using populist rhetoric to cover up massive corruption.

Garage: Like it or not Chavez did stamp out a lot of poverty. That's a Good Thing!
Oh, really?
Critics say his actions have damaged economic performance and encouraged inflation, running at 25% by the end of 2009. In January 2010, the government devalued the bolivar in an attempt to boost oil revenues and simulate domestic production.
...because in bizarro world, inflation and currency devaluation always alleviate poverty.
C4: and show it could be done.
...while the Soviet Union's defense guarantees were worth their weight in subsidies for Cuba's failing economy.

Not very far. They photoshop their shit. Those are signs dude.

"Anyway Chavez was apparently worth $2 billion at the time of his death.
It really is amazing how much money communists make. Why it's almost as if they're merely using populist rhetoric to cover up massive corruption."
Not possible. It's all for the people. All of it.
And it was okay that he shut down the media because the ones against him were just all paid for by rich people... the US media told me so.

Ritmo may be the last Lefty to hear that Willie and Bobby Rubin knew Enron was coming and did everything they could to hush up the deals they'd made.
Read all about it here and here.
Does anybody here really take Ritmo at his word?
May he forever enjoy his monopoly of one.
That's a lot of words you expend trying to convince anyone that 2008's massive fuck-up compares in any way to anything economic occurring in 2001.
Ed's magical, hyper-partisan, reality-bending tour. Step right up, everyone - right this way.
Bwaaa ha ha ha ha ha. Dead.
CNN describes Chavez as "polarizing" which means he is either a pair of sunglasses or a Republican.
Only a communist can muck up an oil boom.
Imitation is flattery -- between Keystone XL and Solyndra Pres. Obama is doing his level best to leave us shivering in the dark.
The BBC just ran a report which showed Chavez as a dancing, singing, laughing leader. It wrapped up by giving both sides of the story- some Venezualans have tears in their eyes while others....say they feel they've lost their father.
C-fudd should be a big fan of Chazvez, who hated Israel and persecuted Jews.

With Venezuelan Food Shortages, Some Blame Price Controls
Some residents arrange their calendars around the once-a-week deliveries made to government-subsidized stores like this one, lining up before dawn to buy a single frozen chicken before the stock runs out. Or a couple of bags of flour. Or a bottle of cooking oil.

Asked where a shopper could get milk on a day when that, too, was out of stock, a manager said with sarcasm, “At Chávez’s house.”
That's ok, because the poor have a lower opportunity cost for time than do rich people.

I doubt very much that Obama, a committed centrist and lackey of the American empire, "outstretched a hand of friendship on several occasions" to Chavez, any more than he has to Castro.

Euro-style socialism pushed by Obama and Democrats is now "centrist"?
Talk about bullshit on stilts.
Obama is a Socialist/soft Fascist. His policies speak for themselves.
All the denial and arguments disputing that ignore his actual policy proposals and Executive Orders in order to reach that conclusion.
"Euro-style socialism pushed by Obama and Democrats...?"
"Talk about bullshit on stilts."
Yes, that is bullshit.
Robert Cooke calls Obama a centrist. Would he call Chavez a capitalist because he's a billionaire? Robert needs to account for the fact that committed socialists can often be complete hypocrites. It doesn't change their focus or how you would describe their ideology. It just means they are liars.

Furious A,
Pictures of Obama and Hillary Clinton (another staunch centrist and supporter of empire) engaging in social pleasantries with Chavez at what was obviously some kind of gathering of state leaders is hardly proof Obama had tried to formally extend America's friendship to Chavez.

Mm, your tears are so yummy and sweet!
Oh, the tears of unfathomable sadness! My-yummy!

It's a quote from your fellow leftist idiot Alan Grayson. Not very politically aware are we Cookie? Tsk Tsk.
What's not to like about a humorless unrepentant Stalin apologist? I'm sure your social circles are filled with the most wonderful people imaginable.
And I see no denial of the amount of balls that come into contact with your chin.
Not that there is anything wrong with that.
Although your Communist heroes didn't take very kindly to those sorts of activities.
"And I see no denial of the amount of balls that come into contact with your chin."
There's no reason I should address myself to your private fantasies, is there?
Easy there comrade, settle down.
I don't judge you your lifestyle choices.
Fear not comrade, no need to report your sexual deviancy to the politburo. You will not go to the Gulag just yet.
Forward!

Hey genius, why don't you tell us, specifically, what Bush was supposed to do to reform OFHEO and how he could do it by himself?
I can't wait to read all about it.
Really.
Here is a blunt and potently true description of the present state of our government.
And yes Robert, I do recall some complimentary things you had to say about Chavez. I'm sure with time and willingness, I could find then.
This sounds pretty much like a tyranny to me.
But he sure liked to talk tough!
"Just hope the successor in Venezuela will keep this vital program going.
We're already 16 trillion dollars in debt!"
You are a pathetic fucker, Mahal.
