"Johnson, a Republican, ranks to the right of roughly 95% of his Senate colleagues in two well-established nonpartisan rating systems.... Baldwin, a Democrat, ranked to the left of the vast majority of her House colleagues in the same rating systems before she arrived in the Senate last month."
From Wisconsin.
To use the old travel-guide cliché: a land of contrasts.

To use the old stagecraft cliché: conflict is the essence of drama.
Thanks again, Tommy Thompson.
Luckily, Baldwin never accomplishes much other than being the poster child for a far left politician.
People motivated to vote for Obama for the narrowest of reasons will easily vote for the other dems so 2008 and 2012 were good years. Certainly something seen locally in my state. In 2010 somewhat the opposite. Voter turnout
Maybe they could celebrate their true diversity, as opposed to the PC style one, which is merely leftwingers of different ethnicities.
Still hard to believe Ron Johnson is a senator.
"No pair of senators are further apart."
Playtex used to say "lift and separate", but the real breakthrough was the Wonderbra, which pushed them together.
Ron Johnson is a very succesful business person turned politician.
Tammy Baldwin major accomplishments have to do with the fact that she likes bush.
I always think of Wonder Woman when I hear Baldwin's name. I think she is the kind of official that is willing to let loose a bit. Gotta love Madison.

I'm with Patrick. I blame Tommy.
Sounds like Althouse and Meade talking Friday's choice in movies.

I don't think Dubya or Poppy reciprocate.

Harder still believing a small c communist is President.
I'm sure they find common ground on the vital issue of dairy price supports.
How long until they're discovered in a closet of the Capital building doing the dirty deed with each other?
They both like pussy.
It's kind of like that with the House and Minnesota. Michele Bachmann and Keith "Nation of Islam" Ellison represent Minnesota in districts that touch each other.
I still want to know how Wisconsin elected Tammy Baldwin.
Wisconsin elected Scott Walker twice. Wisconsin elected Tommy Thompson three(?) times. Wisconsin's recent statewide elections have consistently seen conservative Justices prevail in statewide races for Supreme Court. Wisconsin voters elected Ron Johnson.
Can there actually be people who voted for Scott Walker AND Tammy Baldwin? For Ron Johnson AND Tammy Baldwin? Can any of those people cogently explain the two votes?
Or is this explainable by the simplest available explanation; that the Obama electoral turnout machine succeeded where other Democrats didn't in Wisconsin? Is it possible that there really aren't any Walker/Baldwin and/or Johnson/Baldwin voters. There is just a majority of, uh "Obama" voters, when they feel like turning out.
Will Tammy Baldwin's Senate career be as long and as distinguished as Russ Feingold's?
I still want to know how Wisconsin elected Tammy Baldwin.
Tommy was a poor candidate. Too old to run an energetic campaign, and poorly financed after the primary. Baldwin outspent him early went negative and he never recovered. He never should have run. He was at best a one term senator. Not certain that another candidate would've beaten Baldwin, but they'd have had a better chance.
Patrick, I won't argue with you.
But what your are suggesting, perhaps quite rightly, is that there are voters whose votes were decided based on some personal quality of the candidates. Likability, age, reputation, I dunno; whatever name you might wish to put on whatever quality you might pick out.
And to that I say, "WTF?!?" How could someone possibly be on the fence between Tommy Thompson and Tammy Baldwin, such that Tommy's age or percieved energy level might make a difference?
There may be an answer to this inquiry; one that I probably ought to admit to. That there are thousands upon thousands of voters who are such low-information imbeciles, that they wouldn't understand much about the policy differences between Thompson and Baldwin if we took a half a day to explain it to them.
Whichever the candidate; just don't interrupt the mailing of their government checks every other week.
