Sounds like she might have placed herself in a no win situation. It's hard to tell from the story if she over reported and was called on it or the university was at fault for forcing her to under report.
"UNC sophomore Landen Gambill told the Daily Tar Heel that after making the difficult decision to press charges against her rapist through the University Honor Court, she assumed the trial process would be simple. Instead, Gambill says she was treated with hostility and blamed for her assault:
“The woman student said to me, ‘Landen, as a woman, I know that if that had happened to me, I would’ve broken up with him the first time it happened. Will you explain to me why you didn’t?’” she said."
So that seems to suggest that the full story is that the complaining student accused someone of rape even though she subsequently had sex with him, I would suppose voluntarily.
According to the article, even the student court - with all the protections for the women and bias against men that they supposedly have these days - was able to see the problem with that accusation.
So now she's suing. Note: she's not pressing criminal charges against her rapist.
I could see that cutting both ways, lessening the need to go to real court and waste resources, but also as a kind of kangaroo court that some people would love to get their hands on.
'The Human Rights Honor Court For the Dignity Of All Genders, Persons, and Personhood.'
That article seems to be about many things, but not so much about its headline.
Also, to use part of what David quoted:
UNC sophomore Landen Gambill told the Daily Tar Heel that after making the difficult decision to press charges against her rapist through the University Honor Court
Rape is a crime just short of murder in its seriousness (hell, it wasn't that long ago that rape was a death-penalty offense in Texas). What sort of idiot takes a crime like that to a University Honor Court? You take a crime of rape to the criminal justice system. Unless, of course, your charge is basically bogus.
Meanwhile, last fall UNC's Vice Chancellor for University Advancement resigned after it was learned that he had taken 25 "fundraising" trips with a female UNC employee, the Associate Director of Development at the Dentistry School. She is the mother of a former UNC star basketball player.
Funny thing was many of these "fundraising" trips were to see her younger son play basketball. Of course, he played for Notre Dame, not UNC.
UNC was paying the Vice Chancellor $349,800 a year. The lady not so much.
Sexual assault -is- under reported on campus. With the double-edged sword that some things that are reported are hard to prove (or flat out two drunk people being stupid.) Which is frustrating, because you -want- to punish the actual criminals, but you -need- to protect and exonerate the people from being falsely accused. It's bloody difficult.

Exactly. With date rape especially, a lot of it is hard to prove and he said/she said. If you can't prove it, you shouldn't prosecute.
(and I agree, I don't know why you would bring it to 'honor' court instead of real court if you were serious.)
University Honor Court? For rape? Did anyone ask whether they're talking about rape rape? And asking her why she didn't break up with the guy is assumed to be impertinent, irrelevant and offensive?
Gender feminists have gotten hold of all the rope they need for the job and seem intent on hanging themselves with it. What in the world is taking so long I can't fathom. Just keep me away from the university in the meantime.

Was a whistle or urination involved?
How many of them were actual sexual assaults instead of the usual "he said she said but only 'she said' matters on campuses" crap?
From the article:

Hmmm.

Maybe they send some of their excess sexual assault cases to Duke, in exchange for some cheating offenses.
Even worse, Duke has a better basketball team this year.
If they didn't call the police, it wasn't rape and not actionable.

Once again, I am pleased to say, "GO TO HELL CAROLINA."
(Not that Duke offers much in the way of due process.)

No. No. That's not worse at all.
Somebody tell that Mexican Democrat from CO.

Regrets =/= rape
Sorry. Couldn't resist.
