Anonymous said...: I've known this for some time about fish in restaurants. The only red-snapper I've eaten, I've caught in Florida. Only way to be sure.

Sea-bass is another one. Often not explicitly labeled Chilean Sea Bass which is not bass and rebranded toothfish.

Also, pig rectum (bung) has been substituted for calamari. Tons of pig rectum is shipped to China where it essentially disappears, but may think it is repackaged and branded as calamari (the Chinese eat all sorts of things), though some of which might be re-exported to the US.; 2/21/13, 11:48 AM
