"If the rumors are a Kremlin hoax, the U.S. should publicly shoot them down as quickly as possible. To allow them to spread would be a display of weakness — the kind that a bully like Mr. Putin is always eager to exploit. Back in 1961, the perceived weakness of young President John F. Kennedy at his Vienna summit with Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev led indirectly to the Cuban missile crisis. Only when Kennedy showed resolve did the Soviets later back down."
Writes Garry Kasparov in the WSJ.

But whatever Obama can do to surrender to Russia, Obama will do. That's the way he rolls.

A google search (Magnitsky Act kasparov) provided a working link
Oh I get it. Kasparov is putting pressure on Putin by telling Obama that they have to play chess.
Putin, playing white, went first. Now it's black's turn.
Obama is the black King, Michelle the Queen. Name your own Bishops, Knights, and Rooks. The rest of us are the pawns.
The media tells me that Obama is a world-class strategist and could beat Spock at multi-level chess, so I have no worries that Putin will get the best of him or us in a mere one-level chess match.
1) Is this the "chessmaster" speaking? When did he become an expert on international relations?
2) Obama can be counted on to never act strongly in this area. If we'd had him in '63, we would have had the Russki's nukes in Cuba.

It seems you are just as uninformed on 2 as you are on 1.
I agree he is misinformed on number 1, but number two not so much.
Why do I think Dictator Zero's new "flexibility" only means several new ways Putin can tie in knots.
The Soviets didn't "back down". They removed their missiles in exchange for America (a) removing our missiles from Turkey and (b) promising to never invade Cuba.
Objectively speaking, the USSR gained more from the Cuban Missile Crisis than we did.
The Kremlin responded to the Magnitsky Act by banning American adoption of Russian orphans
I thought that was supposed to be in response to the Tennessee woman who sent a child back to Russia? Or does the cause shift depending on what they want to criticize at the moment?
