A slice of Wisconsin politics.

I framed this screenshot from the lead article at the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel webpage:

Meade sent me that link and highlighted the quote: "A few dozen protesters gathered in the rotunda, and their shouts were at times barely audible inside the Assembly chamber during the address."

Wistful echoes of 2 years ago, when thousands of protesters jammed the Capitol and banged drums and chanted for weeks on end.

Meanwhile, in the sidebar over there:
Feingold calls for legislation to rid election campaigns of corruption
And I call for peace on earth and goodwill toward men.

That second sidebar link — "Man arrested at Capitol had earlier run-in with police" — refers to something that is also in the Scott Walker article: "In one surprise at the Capitol Tuesday, police arrested a 20-year-old Milwaukee man for entering the building with what he claimed were Molotov cocktails in his backpack.... So far, however, no evidence has turned up that Smith knew about Walker's speech or was targeting it specifically."

Random Molotov-cockery, not necessarily Scott-Walker-related.

Whatever happened to that kid on the segway?

Farmer म्हणाले...

Segway Jeremy? Heard he died for our sins, then was resurrected. Meade was Pontius Pilate.

Fascinating.

You'd think the Republicans had won, or something.

Meade म्हणाले...

"Meade was Pontius Pilate."

Do me a favor. Could you please address me as Meanios Meadātos? It's just a Greek thing, I worked so hard to get that title, so I'd appreciate it, yes, thank you.

That guy with the Molotov cocktails should be prosecuted for failing to recycle.

Feingold calls to eliminate the democrat party as it is currently run? Excellent.

It's refreshing to see a head on picture of Walker. Have you noticed how whenever he sits for a TV interview that the camera operators from the Madison stations always seem to shoot him from above so that his bald spot will show? They don't seem to do that when they interview democrats.

"It's refreshing to see a head..."

Yes, I commented on that to Meade when I first saw that. Rarely do they choose a flattering picture.

Should states cut income taxes?

Taxpayers claim tax credits on their federal returns. Citizens from low and no income taxes states will claim less and no credits, giving states like California and Illinois a bigger share of the Federal pie.

How about lower sales taxes?

Not quite true from where I sit. Feingold's goal is to get rid of contributions to Republicans in election campaigns. Didn't you get the memo, Professor? Nothing a wealthy Democrat is illegal (c.f., David Gregory).

AprilApple, that is how I read the statement, too.

Molotov cocktails?
See, I knew it would come to this. Obviously we need background checks for anyone wanting to buy gasoline, and bic lighters should be limited to only 8 flicks.

Sorry for the typo.

Nah. Of course not. Why just the other day I walked into the Illinois state capitol with a back pack full of gasoline bombs. It completely slipped my mind that they were in there.I told the guard they must be left over from earlier that week when me and my friends went to the gasoline bomb range.
Nothing political about it.
