"How about a friendly kiss goodbye"... to Larry Hagman.

A great clip reel, via Throwing Things.

He played the baddie JR with a twinkle in his eye. Loved that.

I liked the Dallas re-boot. JR rules.

RIP Larry.

The war between Texas and California started with the ratings battle between Dallas and Falconcrest.

Well that's certainly the end of an era. This constantly passing parade of icons shows just how surely death becomes all. He seemed like a nice guy, and open-minded. But not opposed to living the fun life that ultimately took its toll, despite a good 81 years. RIP.

Eh, you can have Dallas, he's always gonna be Major Nelson to me. Of course, Barbara Eden wearing a skimpy outfit calling him 'master' might affect things.

caplight45 ayon kay ...

Never got into Dallas. Like Dan Davis comment he will always be Major Nelson to me.

His mother was Broadway actress Mary Martin. Seems like he got bounced around a lot according to his Wiki page. What with Mom's acting career and Dad's la practice.

One word - "Master".

Agree with cap and Dan, but I remember him farther back than that, when he was brought in to salvage "The Rogues".

Always a good actor.

I never watched "Dallas," but he's very amusing in the clips at the link.

Whoever cast Hagman as JR Ewing was brilliant. Although he had played weasels in movie or two, most only remembered him as Maj. Tony Nelson on "I Dream of Jennie". Barbara Eden mmmmmmmmmmmmm

I had known him from "Jeanie" & Dallas days, but when I saw him play the translator on "Failsafe" that really opened my eyes.

Still for my money, no greater TV villain then J.R. Ewing. One of a kind. Evil with a twinkle in the eye.

J.R. Ewing was the kind of Texas oilman that, after shaking hands, you counted your fingers. Larry Hagman was great in the role.

I saw Linda Grey in a movie from the mid 60's, and she was hotter than a chili pepper!

Mary Martin's little boy. RIP.

Dallas was broadcast here in South Africa on Tuesdays, and had such a impact that restaurants would close due to lack of patrons. His passing was the second item on the main evening news here earlier. It was nice to hear that Linda Gray was at his side when he died.

It seems the video was taken down.

"It seems the video was taken down."

Still working for me.

I always liked Larry.
In truth though, prior to the me Dallas appearing I thought he had already died.
I wonder what's going to happen with Dallas now that they've renewed for a second season? Can it survive without JR Ewing?

MadisonMan ayon kay ...

@jr565, they had filmed 6 episodes this year already. I imagine Episode 7 needs a rewrite.

Leslie Graves ayon kay ...

That was so much fun. Thanks!

Great actor.
