Woman found guilty of giving cannibis to her baby... via breast milk.

In New Zealand, where the senior court official said: "Child abuse is family violence in these circumstances, and it is clear this baby and its mother needed help."

I suppose alcohol, tobacco or prescription drugs of various sorts would have been acceptable.

@phx, well, yes, of course, but it's only a matter of time before the statists fix that too.

Maybe having a child should require a license. Yeah. That's the ticket. We need more regulation. The little people need what I like to call "help."

I assume New Zealand permits abortion? Because based on what I understand about pot-smokers I think they'd rather abort than give up weed.

People seem to like statism up until the relentless kudzu of rules ensnares them.

But by then it's too late. Now they own you. You're a slave to the state, allowed to exist only by their benevolence, your rights doled out piece by piece, and withdrawn by whim or pique.

I hope she enjoys her slavery to NZ, and that they are kind masters.

I feel like this would have a calming effect on the baby, but possibly in the same way having a baby stare at blank white walls all day would.

That baby needs to put down the milk pipe and get haircut and a job.

Cannabis!? Out here in California, they call it "medicine".

As in, "I really need my big fat bong full of medicine."

How dare they call it child abuse!

But, hey, it's victimless, right?

in Colonial days, mothers gave their babies a little brandy - laced with opium when they wouldn't pipe down.

But what if it was "medical marijuana"?

New Zealanders...they got their own ways.

Let's take a closer look at that drug delivery system.

If they don't get her for giving her kid cannibis through breast milk, they'll get her for making her child fat because of all of the junk food he'll need to combat the munchies.

New York children will not be able to nurse from anything larger than 40D.

Lot of loopy decisions coming out of NZ lately. Maybe the judges are using Cannabis as well.

I had a 12 hour workday yesterday; two client site visits, shopping & house prep for the hurricane today.

So, brain in a fog, I sit down for my daily Althouse read and what do I see:

Woman found guilty of giving cannibals to her baby.

It took me a bit to read it correctly, but my faith in humanity was there on the edge for that little while, let me tell you.

@Pogo. NZ is far more free than America. I can call by PM a series of obscene perjoratives, in public or on a blog, and no one cares. You get scored on inventiveness.

In the US of A you get arrested.

And Marihuana is illegal here. There are no laws for medical pot.

Go do something good, like voting the bastards turning your country into a banana republic out.
