Swing state tracking poll: Obama 48%, Romney 44%.

Rasmussen says. The regular tracking poll has Obama at 48% and Romney at 46%.

Watching Paul Ryan on Fox News Sunday. How do Republicans hope to win if they have zero enthusiasm and are so cautious that they don't seem to believe in their own policies. The average voter is dumber than half of the population and the average voter will look 20 seconds of Ryan's performance, declare normal political bullshit, he doesn't answer the questions and turn it off. Ugh, Romney needs to hire 25 normal people to advise him and get rid of professional losers.

Come on Romney and Ryan - where's the fire?

It's a win win, for cons.

Romney is running against TWO teams, one Obama and the Left and the media who are also Leftists. Why doesn't Romney call out the media, if you don't challenge the lies and blatant bias the average voter will believe the biased coverage and lies are true. Exactly what does Romney stand to lose if he challenges the media? How much more can they screw him? They challenge Obama on nothing.

That is exactly what I hope to avoid by voting for Obama. Obama might be ineffective, but Romney and Ryan's policies, especially with a Republican congress, are guaranteed to explode the deficit even further and plunge us into a recession or worse. Austerity is a certain path to economic chaos.

I agree that Austerity is a problem. But why is that?

Consider that taxation is forced spending. One might pay down their debt, store money in the bank, or even use that money to start a business.

But when one takes that money, and spends it on programs, it stimulates the economy. And when you borrow money from future generations, it does it as well. That money is going to be spent on goods and services. And who benefits when the economy is growing? Why, it's the ownership class.

The problem with this approach is it removes individual's ability to decide on their own how they want to direct their labor. Maybe they don't want a big screen TV. Maybe they would like to save that money for college. How does this work, when that money is taken by the government, and given to someone else to spend on drugs (yes, I've seen this happen first hand), or other things?

Well, it creates a world of dependency, and it prevents the MIDDLE CLASS because that's where most of the money comes from (including FICA) from being able to save money.

Getting back to individual responsibility is going to be very, very painful. And who knows whether it is even possible.

Sorry, I'm tired of the collective. I'm tired of watching my children's productivity being consumed by the government. I'm tired of watching bad investment decisions by governments, in which the only answer to programs that have net negative returns become larger, as the insane solution to their failure.

I'm ready to take the pain now for my children, to get back to individual responsibility. The current path is damn clear.

The burgeoning Hispanic community has a college matriculation rate of 13%. Even with all this affirmative action, the college matriculation rate of blacks is 17%. Compare that to whites in the high twenties, and asians in the low fifties.

Your solutions don't work. They are going to be incredibly expensive to unwind. And I, for one, am not interested in a two tier society of Michelle Obamas at the top managing the food we eat, getting a $300K salary to protect her hospital by pushing away the indigents from the emergency room, etc.

I'd rather leave a better tomorrow for my kids, thanks very much, and I'm willing to feel the pain. That's what the tea party is all about, you know. We will work hard to get out of the decline, and clean up the mess the "Well Meaninged", ineffective authoriatan state liberals have left us.

Buster,

Crack is wrong about the "Mormon Conspiracy" but right that people, including poor people, want freedom and prosperity.

I just got back from spending some time with those poor people, and we were talking about the election. One of the participants - a black woman - said:

"What bothers me, though nobody will talk about it, is - if Romney is elected - he will always have the Mormon church whispering in his ear."

You guys can claim whatever you like about me, but, here in Utah, where normal people actually have to live with this cult controlling a larger part of their lives than they'd like, this is a very real concern. They see how Utah is run and know - not believe but know - Romney is a harbinger of things to come.

I met an ex-Mormon a few days ago, and he told me his story - he was born into Mormonism, met his wife on their missions, had seven kids, got talked into fundamentalist Mormonism by a midwife, and then, finally, got an aching feeling they were too-easily-led for their own good. His tale ended with the words, "Never follow a leader - never follow a leader - they're just after your money." I didn't agree but kept my mouth shut.

In the last two days, I have received two separate warnings about fluoride in the water. This is typical crazy cult talk, as we all should remember from Dr. Strangelove, and the reasoning is, in many ways, right out of that film. One guy was proud to announce he never drinks water - only Mountain Dew - and, now that the church has relaxed their policies, Pepsi. He did this to protect his health.

A few days ago, I was up early, and decided to do my grocery shopping before the crowds arrived. Among the items I wanted was a six pack of beer for after work. Of course, Utah beer is watered down, but I also had to wait until 7AM to make my purchase because - as the clerk informed me - the church has control over that as well.

How "American."

As for Romney breaking through the media, the only idea I have is that during the debates, whenever he has free time, i.e. his opening or closing statements, or anytime he wants to duck a question, he should recite more or less fluently a laundry list of all the issues the media are hiding, and offer more detail, sources, etc., on his website, whattheyarenttellingyou.com or some such.
